These days, I don’t meditate to relax or relieve stress, although those are great reasons to meditate. Real meditation means letting go of everything, and letting go of everything reveals a depth of self that is infinite and free from the world.
There is perfect silence and stillness there, and an abiding sense of completion and communion.
This distinction—between an experience of no boundaries and an actual self-sense that is unlimited—is important.
You see, most of us fail to realize that the peace and freedom we seek is already an inherent part of who we are at the deepest level. Because, when you discover that a dimension of who you are is always already free, infinite, and forever untouched by circumstance, it gives you confidence. That doesn’t mean that having a strong meditation practice always means that you and I are at peace. Because, through your practice, you have touched that place in yourself again and again until you are convinced that it’s both real and essentially who you are. As our experience of this dimension grows through practice, so too does our conviction in the part of us that is unlimited and already free. But the deeper understanding I’m speaking about is the key to finding real and lasting confidence through meditation. When you really give yourself to your meditation practice, this freedom becomes magnetic and compelling.

The idea behind meditating is to reach a deeper level of concentration and to engage the mind in higher thinking practices. Location Paddington: UPSTAIRS at the Woollahra Community Centre, EJ Ward, 189 Underwood St.
To harness the power of meditation and break emotional walls that are fueling your insecurities, the first thing that you should do is acknowledge that you have a problem. If you do not like writing or do not have enough time to spare daily, consider visiting a counselor or a psychologist. Make sure that your Inhale and exhale deeply before each session and let your mind wander freely for several minutes. Below is a guided meditation that will take you to the beach with a serene setting to listen to and some powerful words to build your self confidence.
If you use it to complement meditation, you can boost self-confidence, and enjoy faster and lasting results.
To harness the power of visualization and boost your self-confidence with meditation, imagine that you are strong and confident.
Did you know that your spiritual and physical realms work in together to determine the direction your life will take? After meditating and manifestation all wants and needs via visualization, talk positively about yourself after each session, to boost self-confidence. Repeating affirmations such as “I believe in myself” or “I will succeed” after meditating will tune your subconscious mind to think positively, and increase your chances of building self-confidence over time. Keep all your affirmations short, positive, and very easy to understand, for faster results.
When you are trying to build self-confidence with meditation, never let past mistakes dictate your present and your future.
Interpret all your challenges as learning paths and use them to better your technique. Contrary to what many preach, meditating to boost self-confidence is not an arduous task. All you have to do is to acknowledge that you have a problem and find its root cause, meditate often, and use technique such as visualization and positive affirmations to strengthen your subconscious mind further.
The general surge in interest for monitoring and measuring our level of health and physical activity has been wrapped under the movement name a€?Quantified Selfa€? coined by Wired magazine editors Gary Wold and Kevin Kelly. The logging of personal biometric data (known as life logging) can nowadays be easily achieved through inexpensive wearable hardware that are connected to mobile apps.
Most popular are wristbands that can measure biometrics such as heart rate, blood pressure, calories burnt, distance run, sleep cycles and other data. An Electoencephalogram (EEG) is a test that detects and measures electrical impulses and signals in the brain.
These electrical impulses correlate to the brain activity of the individual or levels of consciousness. Different brainwave patterns represent different brain activitiesA or levels of alertness hence can give us a good indication of whether we are stressed or relaxed, focused or having our mind all over the place. Although they can be applied in different ways such as for medical examinations, aid tools for professional therapists or personal development tools, the best known application of wearable EEG headband is Neuro-Feedback. The best known EEG headband product leading the market today is Muse owned by Toronto based Interaxon.A Muse is a sleek design headbandA which has been developed specifically to assist users train their brain to meditate and enter calm and focused states of mind through little as a few minutes a day.
The data is passed on to your mobile device via a bluetooth connection and then logged in an app which gives real time feedback and stats on the braina€™s activity and progress of your meditation sessions. On the other hand when the mind gets distracted by thinking, the wind starts picking up again. Moreover, the app, as is the case with the more popular fitness apps, gives you feedback on progress. Although such wearable tech are not a substitute to a real guide or teacher and while also it depends on your will to keep consistent effort, the bottom-line answer is again yes. Many times we are programmed by ourselves and others that we are not good enough or that we are not smart enough or that we will never amount to anything. You were unconsciously programmed when you were given some of these negative suggestions and without realizing, it formed a false belief in your subconscious mind. Today you may still be responding to those false beliefs, thus causing low self-esteem and a lack of self confidence.
It will help you realize that you are a special person and that you can be transformed by the renewal of your mind.
Creating positive self-talk or “talking like you like yourself” is one of the best things you can do for improving your sense of self-confidence and self-esteem. In this 5-part series, we are going to look at different kinds of self-talk and how it can help you build your confidence and achieve the success you dream about and deserve in your life. The commentary you create each day shapes your life, so it pays to make sure it’s as positive as you can make it.
So I’ll ask you again, how many times have you told yourself the same story over and over again? I mentioned the other day that one of the best ways to build self-confidence is to get comfortable sharing your unique self.
It may seem like a small thing, but just as you deserve respect from others, they also deserve respect from you.
Instead of getting stressed at new situations or social situations where you feel less than confident, relax and let your light shine.
Your uniqueness will grow along with your experiences instead of stagnating by always being with the same people whose ideas and opinions never change.
In the first part of the Believing in Yourself series, one of the first steps to building confidence I mentioned is letting go of past mistakes. Many times, the reason we can’t let go of a past mistake is because we don’t want to be honest with ourselves about what really went wrong.
Instead of trying to stuff it into the back of your mind, allow yourself to spend some time reflecting on the mistake. How did you feel about the circumstances that led to the incident, and how do you feel about them now?
Who do you need to talk to; get opinions from; or ask forgiveness from in order to release your feelings around the event? This is one of the hardest things to do, but it needs to be done in order to remove past mistakes as obstacles to your future confident self. Another part of forgiving yourself is realizing that you are not the same person you were then. Even if it’s been awhile, consider apologizing to the others affected by your mistakes and asking for forgiveness.
If too much time has passed and you can’t make amends directly, you can make indirect amends through acts of restitution and kindness, and other good deeds. The Believing in Yourself workbook includes writing prompts you can use to work through some of the issues this post addresses. One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do was learn to be the real me again after my divorce.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that developing good listening skills goes hand in hand with good conversation skills.
Where this comes in handy for you as someone learning to be yourself is that the better the connection you make with another person, the easier it is for you to be your real self around them. This is so important, not only for being yourself and building your confidence, but for living a full life as a whole. People with low self-esteem tend to go along with what everyone else wants to do and never let anyone know what they’d really rather be doing.

In fact, there are three key insights I want to share with you that can help you find confidence through meditation much faster than I ever did.
Spending time diligently letting everything go while sitting quietly without moving is like soaking in a sea of pure goodness. If we are to trust the mystics and sages of the East, this freedom is a fundamental part of our nature.
Our identities are mostly tied to the limited criteria of what we’ve accomplished, where we grew up, who we know, our class, our race, our history, etc. I used to think that deep and powerful experiences of this limitless self were the main event.
If you know from the outset that you are accessing a deeper part of yourself when you meditate, and not just falling into an experience of ecstasy, you will derive more benefit from meditation. Once you start to know and trust in this deeper aspect of yourself, you start to see meditation in much simpler terms. As you gain confidence through your practice, you realize that there is nowhere to go, no distance to travel, and no experience to have in order to rest in eternity. Sitting still, letting go of every thought, feeling, interpretation, and aberration in my mind never ceases to amaze me. When you get the hang of it, you start to relish that choice for pure freedom above everything. If you understand these three insights and the difference between experiencing infinity versus accessing a deeper dimension of self, your practice will take off.
Start meditating today and release the source of your stress with these proven meditation techniques. It can help you to connect with your subconscious mind, harness and strengthen it, and live a healthy, peaceful, and balanced life. Over time, these professionals can help you to understand yourself, find the source of your problems, and then advise your on how you can use meditation as a catalyst for boosting your self-confidence. To prevent interruptions, you can lock the door or meditate when there is less traffic at home (early morning or closer to bedtime). It is also good for eliminating negative energy from the body and manifesting wants and needs in life.
Spend a few minutes daily to reaffirm this position and you will notice your self-confidence grow over time.
Instead of looking down upon or seeing yourself as a failure, remember that falling asleep when meditating, negative thinking when visualizing, and failing to recite positive affirmations as needed are all part of the process. We have come a long way in the engineering of consumer level EEG headsets and wearable tech devices to monitor and get feedback on our mental activities on the go. Other portable devices can measure other things such as sugar levels in your blood or urine. EEG headbands are basically wearable headbands that have small sensors embedded that can read and measure your brain activity. Where once brain monitoring EEG devices where bulky and super expensive equipment owned by well funded institutes and laboratories, the same level of technology and results is now achievable through sleek and lightweight headbands you can carry around or wear anywhere without looking like a complete weirdo.
The recorded signals are represented as frequencies or waves, normally referred to as Brain Waves. Another way of describing an EEG headband then is a wearable device that monitors and gives realtime feedback on the activity of your brain. What this means in a few simple words is that you can get real time feedback of the state of your mind you are in and this can guide A you to change it accordingly.
The amazing thing about this is that you have a lightweight wearable personal meditation trainer that can drastically cut down the time and frustration (typically with beginners and medium practitioners) to reach the meditative state. It uses seven sensors in different positions around the headband which measure your brain waves and hence the braina€™s activity. Muse gives real time feedback by translating your brain waves, hence your braina€™s activity, into sounds such as sounds of the wind and the weather.
This helps you have a trackable progress, and hence motivation towards your meditation efforts.
This type of programming causes us to feel inadequate and develops a low self-confidence and self-esteem. The therapeutic suggestions will build your self-confidence, self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-esteem. We all talk to ourselves on a daily basis (and some of us even answer ourselves) so it’s nothing to be ashamed of. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing, that little voice is always going in the back of your mind. When you tear yourself down more than you build yourself up, you risk losing any of the confidence and self-esteem you’ve worked so hard to create. According to an article posted on the Cleveland Clinic Wellness website, we humans have about 60,000 thoughts a day, and many of them are negative. Paying attention to your self-talk, and catching the negative thoughts before you express them is the best way to start talking to yourself in a more positive way.
That article I mentioned earlier also said that out of our 60,000 daily thoughts, about 95 percent of them will be the same thoughts we ‘thunk’ yesterday. Again, think about the stories you tell yourself most often, but this time think about activities you do every day and notice how relevant or not your self-talk stories are. Instead of using self-talk to beat yourself up and keep yourself stuck, use it to take action. Showing your positive attitude brings out the best in you and uplifts those around you too. It’s easy to be confident when you’re showing your best self to others, because you know you’re at your best.
If the people around you aren’t accepting of who you really are, then maybe it really is time to widen your circle and connect with people who are interested in the same things you are. It’s always hardest for us to forgive ourselves for things that have gone wrong, and this only serves to keep us stuck, unable to move forward and become the confident, successful person we are meant to be. If you’re ready to move forward (and I know you are because you’re here reading this), you can try these simple strategies to deal with the past and finally move on to being who you are meant to be.
Then create a plan that will help you act differently if you ever encounter the same situation again.
This is especially true if you’ve been carrying the burden of a past mistake around with you for a while. You don’t know what kind of feelings they’ve been carrying around, so this step can be healing for you both. Taking concrete actions will cement in your mind that you’ve changed and moved on, and also show others that you regret whatever hurts your mistakes caused. Sometimes the feelings of pain and grief that you carry around as a result can be more damaging that the consequences of the original mistake. It’s so much easier to be confident when you’re being authentically you than it is when you’re trying to be who others think you should be.
When you’re feeling low on confidence, you don’t think the real you is worth anything so you do whatever you can to hide behind a mask.

This does such a number on your self-esteem it’s not even funny, because you’re not only being dishonest with the people around you, you’re being dishonest with yourself.
This is one way to create a connection with other people, because when you really listen to them it makes them feel important.
That doesn’t mean you have to be one of those loud, obnoxious people who think everyone needs to hear their opinions on everything.
Whether it’s playing the piano, learning to paint, or volunteering at the local animal shelter, for example, doing what you love brings out the best in you and people can see that. You need to be out and about building relationships and interacting with people who accept and respect you for who you really are. Do you want to be remembered as the artist and foster mom of countless teens that didn’t have a place to go? It doesn’t mean you’re looking for the worst to happen; it just means you’re prepared for any setbacks before they derail your dreams.
When you conquer negative self-talk, and learn to “talk like you like yourself,” your self-esteem will improve.
If you think that you’re destined to be overweight, then it doesn’t matter how many diet books you buy or how many nutritionists you talk to, you’re still going to be overweight. Just because you have a negative thought doesn’t mean you have to grab on to it and make it part of your mindset.
If you really want to eliminate your negative self-talk, then you have to focus on consuming good stuff. The more I practice, the more my understanding of this free and infinite dimension has changed. That’s certainly part of the picture, and those are important and valid aspects of who we are as human beings. Through practice, part of you becomes rooted in a dimension of self that is forever unchanging and always at peace.
You know that whatever is happening, no matter how dramatic, part of you isn’t touched by any of it.
And, it’s possible to cultivate that confidence through a strong, stable, and consistent meditation practice.
Whether I focus on relaxing, paying attention, or sitting still, each is a doorway to deeper letting go. Whether you want to relax, stimulate creativity, gain enlightenment, or cultivate compassion and mindfulness, we help you learn how to let go. The ideal state is when the body is at rest and the mind is quieted of idle chatter or thoughts.
Over time, you will notice a pattern highlighting the insecurity that you should tackle to lower your self-confidence, and live a healthy and productive life.
This revolution is partly driven by market trends, increasing demand for health & fitness apps and devices together with a growing interest in acquiring personal biometric data of all sorts. When the mind gets calmer, the sound of the wind changes and slows down to a quiet ambience with chirping birds. The idea is that while in normal meditation nothing except your awareness can bring to your attention that you mind set off wandering again, with neuro-feedback devices such as Muse you get a gentle reminder through subtle changes in your ambience muss.
In short it will not tell you how to meditate but how you are meditating which is a hundred times more helpful, even considering that no one really shows you how to meditate after all! The real insidious part of self-talk is that it’s such a natural thing to do, it’s easy to not pay attention to it. If you catch yourself telling an old story that’s full of negative thoughts, find a way to change it to a more positive outcome or just stop telling it all together. Does not being able to do high-school calculus 20 years ago really mean you can’t do math on a daily basis?
It also allows your true personality to shine because it’s much easier to be yourself when you’re feeling good about yourself. And when you’re at your best you can also feel your most confident because your realness and integrity shine through. When you’re stressed, you can’t be your real self because you’re worried about what others are thinking. It’s much easier to share your uniqueness when you’re feeling happy and light than it is when you’re feeling dark and stressed. You also expose yourself to others’ opinions and cultures as well as ideas you may not have considered before.
The more varied interests you have, the more unique and well-developed your personality becomes. It’s much easier to be confident when you’re spending time with people who get where you’re coming from, instead of with people to whom you continually have to explain yourself. If you answered the questions in the first part of this post, you should be able to see just how different you are now from your past self. In seeking to let of past mistakes, you may be helping someone else let go of past hurts that are keeping them stuck too. By owning up to them, and asking for forgiveness from people you’ve hurt, you allow yourself to let go and take another step forward toward the confident person you are meant to be.
And sometimes you can get so caught up in being what other people want you to be that you lose your own sense of self. Here are a few of the things I work at on a daily basis to let the real Ruthie show herself. If you have to hide your true self to be around certain people, maybe it’s time to rethink those relationships and find people who accept and embrace your true self in all its quirky glory. Building relationships is all about communicating with others, so by building up your conversation skills, it will become easier to not only share yourself but to learn and grow by listening to others as well. In fact, most people don’t share their opinions because they don’t want to be seen like that. Do one thing every day to show your unique self, and your self-esteem and confidence levels will grow too. Try to think about what you’d like your life to look like if money and time weren’t factors. This vision has to be strong enough to motivate you when you’re still living your ‘before’ story. You’ll gain more self-confidence and you’ll feel more optimistic about your life in general.
You have the power to change your focus which means you also have the power to reject any thought that crosses your mind Instead of grabbing onto it, let it float by and look for the next positive thought instead.
Start by looking in the mirror and telling yourself, ‘Today, I choose to be happy’ or ‘Today, I choose to fully accept myself’. Truth is, I don’t often hear people talk about meditation in the context of developing confidence, but that’s why I practice meditation.
You are soaring without moving a single muscle and the animating mystery of life infuses every cell of your being. Picture yourself on a beautiful island, enjoying your hobby, or having a good time with family or friends.
Does the fact that you can’t cook a gourmet meal really mean you’re hopeless in the kitchen? Not only will you feel better, you’ll notice that your self-talk is more optimistic when you focus on the good.
When you speak these thoughts out loud, they’ll begin to affect how you talk to yourself and how you live your life.
Truth be told, I probably spent more time mastering ‘how to struggle’ than I did ‘how to meditate’. Chances are a good portion of those habitual thoughts you’ve been having don’t even apply to your life anymore.
How do you get from where you are today to that bright, shiny future that you’re looking forward to?
By doing this, you’ll be better prepared mentally and emotionally when you encounter setbacks or problems along the way. In the Confidence Builder’s Kit, the first step is to visualize the future you want to create.
