I’ve also been traveling the last few days and eating out at restaurants way too much than I feel comfortable with.
The first twenty pounds came off so quickly that I just have to remember to stay as determined as possible and not get frustrated when the scale is slow to budge. What makes it easier for me, is again, noting how much BETTER I FEEL every day now than I did five weeks ago. One exercise that I really recommend is to make a list of every single thing you are looking forward to when you reach your goal weight.
For example, I’m REALLY looking forward to buying a whole new wardrobe because nothing I own fits me anymore.
Another huge help to my weight loss plan and efforts is my UP by Jawbone activity tracker and app. What I love about this tracker is that it’s a pedometer and sleep tracker all in one, plus more. I highly recommend investing in one of these guys if you’re serious about learning more about your daily activity patterns.
I am just getting started on my journey since I’ve been asked to be in a wedding in May. I'm an animal advocate, brain stem surgery survivor, life lover, constant learner, and so much more. I enjoy traveling, pop culture, coffee, tweeting, music, movies, photography, volunteer work, trying new things, going new places, and meeting new faces.
Think about how you will look, how you will feel, the types of clothes you'll wear or the types of activities you'll be able to do.
Go online and search for "vision boards" or "inspiration boards." Many blogs, websites and pictures will come up that you can use to get an idea of how to design your own board. You can also talk to the staff at craft stores or scrap book stores for ideas on supplies you'll need and items you can put on your board.
Purchase items like: glue, construction paper, scissors, tape, thumb tacks, stickers, or colored pens and pencils.
You can even post pictures of what you want to do or feel like when you've reached your goal weight.
For example, list hamburgers from a fast food outlet in one column and in the other column, list a homemade burger using healthier and lower calorie products.
Even better if you can use images and not just words (perhaps take photos of the old food and the new food).
This could be a series of sports images, a set of URLs for online exercise tutorials or comic-strip like exercise images for an exercise you want to do every single day (such as push ups).
You can also post up pictures of activities you want to do when you're fit - like crossing the finish line of a race. In addition, put up pictures of fun workout clothes, shoes or put the lyrics up of inspiring workout songs. This will be especially true if you've met your goals, made progress or have changed your goals. Change out pictures or motivational sayings as you've progressed closer toward your goal or have met your goal. Add and remove things from the board as needed; you can paste new things over the top of old if needed. BMI doesn't measure body fat directly, but gives you an idea of how much excess weight you may be carrying. Subtract your ideal body weight from your current weight to get an estimate of how much excess weight you're carrying. Take into consideration your BMI, ideal body weight and any suggestions your doctor may have given you. There is no reason why you couldn't create a digital version of this inspiration board, if it's easier for you to carry it around on your laptop, cell phone or touch tablet. A major reason for the popularity of smoothies is their chameleon-like ability to be transformed into whatever you need them to be. Because smoothies are so adaptable and because they are mouthwateringly yummy, it’s easy to get carried away and add ingredients that turn your smoothie into a sugar-loaded, super-sweet calorie bomb and to supersize your portion size. I say all that to say this, you need to have a clear idea why you are making a smoothie in order to control what ingredients you’re adding and how much you’re making.
Use water, coconut water, non-dairy milk or low-fat milk as your smoothie base to make it a low-calorie smoothie.
Add protein to make your smoothie filling, feed your muscles and to make it more of a meal. Making thick smoothies allows you to reduce the calories in your smoothie, while still feeling full and satisfied.
If you like your smoothie thick, pre-soak chia seeds for about 20 minutes in a few tablespoons of water (1 tbp chia to 2 tbs liquid). Add 1 or 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed (also known as linseed), which has a nutty flavor (stronger than chia seeds). The main disadvantage of flaxseed, especially compared to chia seeds, is that they tend to spoil quickly. Try adding fiber-rich psyllium seed husks to thicken a smoothie, without adding any flavor. If a smoothie recipe you’ve been eyeing is likely to end up runny, cut down on some of the liquids (e.g. Smoothies are packed with nutrients, protein and fiber, so be sure to drink a couple of glasses of water as well.
Okay, now that I’ve almost made a dissertation out of how to thicken a smoothie, lets move on to weight loss smoothie ingredients.
Water has, of course, zero calories, and will be the lowest calorie liquid, along with tea, that you can add to your smoothie. Below, you’ll find a list of different liquids to add to your smoothie, along with their calorie content (serving size 1 cup). Fruit and vegetables will make up most of the carbohydrate and fiber content, and much of the nutrients in your smoothie. Adding a little fat to your weight loss smoothie will make it more effective in warding off hunger and keeping you healthy.
Generally, use ripe fruits in your smoothies, as they give you the most bang for your buck, in terms of sweetness, making it less likely that you’ll need to sweeten your smoothie further. If you haven’t added any of these ingredients already, try adding one to your smoothie to boost weight loss.

Day after day of following a diet or new eating pattern can be difficult or get boring after awhile. Prior to starting your inspiration board, spend some time visualizing yourself at your weight goal. If you've never made an inspiration or visualization board before, you might want to get some ideas of what to do before making one for yourself. They might even have ideas or products (like cork board or a dry erase board) that are designed for inspiration boards.
If you want to make a board that you can change or update think about choosing a dry erase board or pin board. Remember that whenever you're feeling down, you want to be able to look at these pictures and remember what you're aiming for rather than feeling like you can't match up, ever. If you've made a fairly interactive inspiration board, be sure to follow up the tasks you've set yourself on it, or make use of its information to keep you going. Whenever you're attempting to lose weight, it's a good idea to chat with your doctor first. He or she may recommend some moderate weight loss or a lot depending on your gender, age and activity level.

I know I didn’t gain all the weight over night and neither will I be able to lose it that fast either! Wine glasses are getting bigger and bigger, so be sure you know how much wine you’re actually drinking, otherwise the health risks start to outweigh the benefits. Furthermore, if you’re exercising (as you should), fuelling your muscles with protein will aid recovery from your workout and maximize your results.
