Pin The Jungle Book (1967) to pinterest.Below are more The Jungle Book (1967) Phots and Pictures for you. Disney has announced two more castings for Jon Favreau‘s upcoming live-action film, The Jungle Book, that is actually, for the most part, animated. Joining the cast is Christopher Walken as King Louie, the leader of monkeys and apes; and Giancarlo Esposito as Akela, the leader of the wolf pack. Disney consistently calls this film a live-action feature in all of their press releases, but also says that the only character to physically appear on screen is Mowgli.
The Jungle Book also stars Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, and Neel Sethi as Mowgli.
Rocky was to be voiced by Frank Fontaine, who recorded his lines, and animation went as far as detailed storyboards.Richard M.
During pre-production, Disney assigned animator Larry Clemmons to head story development on the project.
She reportedly never forgave Walt Disney for the gaffe.Darleen Carr who played the voice of The Girl (Shanti) is the younger sister of The Sound of Music actress Charmian Carr (Liesl von Trapp).
She stopped working with Disney Studios after this film. The xerographic system, which had been used since 101 Dalmatians, was further refined to combine both Xeroxed cels with hand inked details.
For example, while the basic animation on the village girl at the end of the movie was with Xeroxed cels, her mouth was inked by hand. The backgrounds also moved back towards the more traditional look of earlier films. The Vultures were originally going to be voiced by The Beatles. The band’s manager, Brian Epstein, approached the Disney studios about having The Beatles appear in the film, and Disney had his animators create the Vultures specifically to be voiced by the band. But when Epstein took the idea to the Beatles, John Lennon vetoed the idea, and told Epstein to tell Disney he should hire Elvis Presley instead.
A panther named Bagheera one day comes across an abandoned boat, in which a small baby is seen.
Taking pity on the baby, Bagheera takes it to a small family of wolves, who adopt the boy.10 years pass, and Mowgli has grown into a wiry young boy, who has long since been adopted into his wolf pack, despite his differences.
However, word has reached the pack that the tiger Shere Khan has been spotted in the jungle. Bagheera volunteers to take Mowgli to a man-village some distance away.Mowgli and Bagheera set out sometime after dark. Mowgli spends a few moments with their son, who one day dreams of following in his Father’s footsteps.
However, a group of monkeys suddenly appear, and take Mowgli away.Mowgli is taken to some ancient ruins, lorded over by an orangutan named King Louie, who figures since Mowgli is a man-cub, he can help him learn how to make fire.

Bagheera and Baloo show up shortly, and after a fierce chase, get Mowgli away from King Louie. As Mowgli rests from the ordeal, Bagheera explains to Baloo why Mowgli must leave the jungle, and after telling Baloo of the danger that Shere Khan poses to him, Baloo reluctantly agrees to take Mowgli back, even though he had promised Mowgli he could stay in the jungle with him.
When Mowgli finds out about this, he runs off again. After some time going through the jungle, Mowgli encounters Kaa, who hypnotizes the boy. Kaa manages to carry on a conversation with the tiger, and just barely hides the fact that the man-cub is nearby. Just as it seems that Shere Khan may devour Mowgli, Baloo appears, and wrestles with the tiger, who ends up clawing at the large bear. As the three of them look through some bushes, they see the man-village, and by a small stream, a little girl appears, gathering water. I'll admit it, Iadore Disney movies, I could never choose just one Disney movie as myfavorite, I love them all for so many different reasons. The JungleBook is one of my fav's though, after buying the new release on DVD, Irealized that I love this movie now more than ever. The reason that Ithink this movie is so wonderful is because of the characters, theyjust brought so much life to the story and really made this into awonderful Disney classic.Mowgli is found in a basket as a baby in the deep jungles. Bagheera, the panther who discovers the boy, promptly takes him to a wolf who hasjust had cubs. She raises him along with her own cubs and Mowgli soonbecomes well acquainted to jungle life.
Mowgli is shown ten yearslater, visiting the wolves and getting his face licked eagerly when hearrives.
That night, when the wolf tribe learns that Shere Khan, aman-eating tiger, has returned to the jungle, they realize that Mowglimust be taken to the man village, to protect him and those around him.Bagheera volunteers to escort him back. They leave that very night, butMowgli is determined to stay in the jungle and loses Bagheera. Kaa, thehungry python, hypnotizes Mowgli into a deep and peaceful sleep, trapshim tightly in his coils, and tries to devour him, but comically fails. The next morning, Mowgli tries to join the elephant patrol.
The boysoon meets up with the fun-loving bear Baloo, who shows Mowgli the funof having a care-free life and promises not to take him to the manvillage.
Begheera, apanther, that we've all known this kind of person, the one that justwants to get down to business and get as much done as quickly aspossible, the party pooper, but deep down still has that heart. That is untilShere Khan the tiger comes back to the jungle…One thing I love about The Jungle Book is the villains.
In most Disneymovies you have one villain, sometimes with stupid and funny sidekicks whoget bossed around all the time. He kidnaps Mowgli but doesn’t really want to harm him, whichperhaps makes him the least cruelest of the three.

Shere Khan isvery swift and cruel but also very calm about his cruelty and not the leastbit temperamental. Last but definitely not least (myfavorite of the three)- Kaa, the snake, and a very big one I might add. See-King Louie wants to be like Mowgli, Shere Khan wants to kill Mowgli and Kaawants to… eat Mowgli.
There’sthe elephants, the vultures (who are actually nice and quite humorous too),Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther. He diedwhile the film was in production, and sadly never got to see the outcomeofthe movie. I have seennearly every Disney film, and not one of them has beaten out Uncle Walt’slast supervised animated motion picture. The only one that I believe comesclose is Aladdin (And no, I haven’t forgotten about The Little Mermaid,Beauty and the Beast or The Lion King). I wish Disney would make films like they did in 1967 ratherthan today (I mean Atlantis: The Lost Empire? Many years later I saw The Jungle Book andagain I had tears in my eyes, but this time of laughing. This is the funniest and most entertaining cartoon I ever saw.
Thecharacters are memorable and a delight to watch, especially Sher Khan andBaloo the Bear.
I recommend it for all ages, kids willfind it funny, and will fall in love with characters like the friendlyBalloo, the worriesome panther Ballugha’s parental instincts, and thehopelessly incompetent Kaa. As time goes by this man cub called Mowgli (BruceReitherman, son of the director) has grown with the wolves. Until thewolves discover that Sheer Khan the Tiger (George Sanders) had returnedto the jungle. Now Bagheera is insistent on Mowgli returning to the ManVillage where he will be safe from the Tiger. Mowgli is too happy inthe jungle and wants to stay with his new found friend, the film'shighlight, Baloo the Bear, voiced by singer Phil Harris.
