Welcome and congratulations for having the wisdom and consciousness to decide to learn more about meditation. I have been meditating for over 40 years, I have tried many different meditation techniques.
Learning how to meditate does not have to be mysterious or difficult and you don’t have to sit in lotus to become an accomplished meditator. So whether you are just beginning your journey into meditation or are looking for help on the journey you have already begun, I am here for you.

Many of the most impressive people throughout history have placed high value on meditation, even in modern times. Perhaps the most common misconception about meditation is that it’s difficult and that you need some kind of superhuman mind control to be able to do it correctly.
There are a million ways to meditate, but I’ll give you a very simple meditation with some ideas you can use to make your first times more fulfilling. The morning is a great time to meditate because your mind is not yet full of thousands of thoughts and to-do’s from the day. When I achieve this state, it’s very difficult (at least for me) to remain awake, so it takes a conscious effort not to fall asleep.
It is amazing what a quick morning walk can do for you, especially if you are lucky enough to live near water. A good breakfast will not only help you physically, but will pick you up emotionally as well. Spend a few minutes throwing the ball with your dog or cat or rabbit or whatever kind of pet you have, simply just take the time to play with your pet. Working out in the morning is not only good for you in terms of losing weight and staying fit, but it gets our endorphins flowing.
Take a few minutes to drink a cup of coffee or tea, whichever makes you more relaxed, and sip on it for a little a while. For me, meditation gives me a chance to connect with myself before the demands of the day take hold.

The truth is, more people than you know meditate regularly, especially the successful ones. Think Steve Jobs, Paul McCartney, Oprah Winfrey, and perhaps even most of the rest of them. The evening is a great time to meditate because your mind is full of thousands of thoughts and to-do’s from a full day of wakefulness.
That’s ok, although it would be better to try to stay awake and ride the border of sleep and wakefulness. The cool thing is that this state, as well as different, deeper states that follow, is ideal for coming up with creative ideas, advice for yourself from your higher self, from guides, Jesus, Allah, or whatever you believe in. You can be doing anything that doesn’t require a lot of conscious thought, such as eating, driving (generally), walking, whatever. Whether you are in your car, getting ready or walking to the train, listen to some music that makes you happy. Again, you don’t have to guzzle or slip slowly, but take a minute to enjoy your morning beverage.
When I meditate I’m calmer, more grounded, and as a result, more present in the moment. I’m motivated to stay with it because I like how I feel and how I deal with things when I do.
The trick I found was to start small – just a couple of minutes and build from there.
In fact I’m proud to say that with the combination of running, Pilates and yoga, I’m in better shape now in my forties than I was in my thirties!
In 1978 I founded the Spiritual Life Society, Ohio’s oldest yoga and meditation center.

No time is better than any other (although it’s generally easier to achieve a deep meditative state in the early morning soon after rising), no method is better than any other.
When you approach this stage, it becomes possible for your mind to remain awake, but your body to fall asleep. I’m certain that Tiger Woods, in his prime, achieved a deep meditative state on the golf course, which allowed him to play rounds of golf more impressive than anyone in the history of the game. You know how when you are in a hurry things just seem to keep going wrong -- slowing it down will help. Or, comments indicating that others would like to do it but don’t have the time, or have tried and failed.
In one of my videos I explain the two major meditation techniques of mantra and mindfulness, and I share with you the advantages and disadvantages of both.
With it you will receive a download of me leading you through a complete meditation session. This newly revised edition includes a bonus chapter on scientific studies showing the benefits of meditation, plus all-new photographs and illustrations.
