To file -there should be nothing in here when you put it back on your desk. This is the easiest file to let get out of control -spend a few minutes at the end of each week filing away what has accumulated in here during the week. All other paper that was on my desk is now filed away in my file drawer (I’ll share what files are in there later) or in my Smart Binder (more on that next week). When you are busy at work, the last thing that you want to think about is organizing your desk. Once you have a handle on the type of items you want to keep, start putting all of those items back on your desk in their own specific area and find something to store them in.
If you resist the urge to store an item in the wrong location you could remain uncluttered forever!

It’s not the number of things that makes you rich, but the number of things that empower you and fuel up you energy. You can store the extra pens for later use, but if you have LOTS of extras, either donate them or toss them. Or pay your bills on line, using paperless bills and payments to avoid the clutter of bill statements as much as possible.

Take the time to go through each and ever piece of paperwork, take care of it, and file it accordingly (we will go over paperwork again in a few minutes).Make sure when you are cleaning and purging, that you take the time to go through your office supplies and weed it out. Since the drawers in my desk are fairly deep, I purchased an adjustable great quality silverware drawer tray that won’t slide my stuff around.
It fits in there perfectly, so all my pencils, highlighters, erasers, paper clips, and so on, are in that holder and I store other things I don’t use as often in the bottom of that drawer like a ruler, staples, post it notes, etc.
You may also wish to include a cork board to keep track of chores, meal list and shopping lists.
