October 22, 2014 By Christina Gammon 1 Comment Last UpdatedWednesday, October 22, 2014I saw this little craft on Pinterest a while ago so we started saving our paper towel and toilet paper roll tubes.
Here's a compelling reason to “cultivate” gratitude – being thankful has been linked to better health, sleep, satisfaction with life, kinder behavior toward others, and reduced anxiety and depression. November 17, 2014 by Penny Leave a Comment It seems like every November we get inundated with gratitude exercises, activities and sentiments and it’s easy to start glazing over it all after a while. When we actively practice gratitude, we immediately feel richer and happier, not to mention more blessed and content. That’s why its important to look at gratitude as a practice rather than a quality or state of mind.
I thought these gratitude magnets would be fun because they serve as constant reminders of all our blessings.

All you need for this project is some pretty paper, a shape cutter (or scissors), markers, and a spool of magnet strip that has sticky side (sold at a craft store).
Next, cut out a small square of magnet from your spool, peel off paper so sticky part is exposed and stick to the back of your cutout.
It’s fun to watch the fridge or door fill up with magnets because it shows how much we have to be grateful for, during the holidays and year round.
Children fill in one leaf a day with something that they are thankful for, and try to use each letter of the alphabet.  By Thanksgiving day, you will have a wonderful Thanksgiving decoration created by your kids – one that comes directly from their heart!  Check out this guest post over at Toddler Activities At Home! It turned out so great, and it was so cool to see everything we were thankful for at the end of the month. This easy DIY Fall Leaf Bowl Decoration is affordable and easy to do with children but it also makes a beautiful decoration for your home or a gift.
It was an amazing summer but now as the air turns crisp and signs of Fall are everywhere, my mind is turning toward fall crafts.
Those fall leaves are still coming down like crazy and every day I notice gorgeous colors to make crafts with. They are perfect for little gifts for children or as a table decoration for the Thanksgiving feast!
It’s a creative and spooky way to serve up those every day eggs with a little Halloween excitement.
My grandmother had tins of buttons she had collected through the years and this was passed on to my mother. Of course, with lots of produce canned and frozen, my winter will be filled with delicious home-grown meals.  Having pickled beets at the ready is one of my favorite delicacies!! It took about 2 minutes to make but is really going to spook those trick or treaters this Halloween!
This chalkboard painted planter is a perfect way to remind you of what you're thankful for. Simply taking time to be grateful five times a week for one minute has shown to improve life significantly in these areas.

Whether it’s by keeping a journal, using a gratitude board, or incorporating thankfulness into prayer, it is the habit you form that matters. The creator, Jill, quickly realized she was having more fun sharing her DIY ideas on the blog then on making and selling gift items. Not only are they beautiful but they are perfect for apple picking time and ways to use up apples! I used some of it for my healthy organic pumpkin brownies and some of it I used for these scrumptious whoopie pies.
I found this on Pinterest and followed it to a site called My Creative Stirrings (picture credit). I found these on All You last year but I’m sure this year they are going to be a huge success again! And this weekend I found another EASY and inexpensive DIY project for those leaves all over the ground that can accent your home and make a great fall or Thanksgiving decoration. Peek-a-Boo monster eyes are spooky and creepy and easy to make  from recycled toilet paper and paper towel rolls and glow sticks. Make several pots to use as a Thanksgiving centerpiece, or individual planters to use as place-settings for each of your holiday guests. Maggie May’s Gifts includes ideas for decorating the home, entertaining kids, making healthy snacks, and repurposing just about anything. But the results we got made us smile and I’m sure if we had more patience, they would have come out better… maybe?
