Subaru Rally Team USA drivers Bucky Lasek and Sverre Isachsen had the pace to win at the inaugural Washington DC Global Rallycross this weekend but were stymied in the Final. The Washington DC round of the 2014 Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship represented round three of the ten event series and was held on a purpose built track outside of RFK Stadium in Washington, DC. The Washington DC event began with Lasek at the top of the timesheets earning the #2 seed with the second fastest lap time in qualifying. I've been covering technology in fitness, fashion and health over the last 5 months and I really hope you enjoy these trend reports.
Like I say in the video, we're picking 3 winners per prize category, so you have an excellent chance of winning. In all aspects of life, I'm drawn to women who take a stand on issues, don't care about being labeled a freak and just come out and say whatever it is they feel needs to be said.
Even when I'm home alone and hungry, I can cook a HelloFresh meal and save the 2nd portion for my lunch or dinner the next day.
The concept of the beautifully captured campaign was that an exciting adventure could be as close as your backyard.
Every trainer I got was just going through the motions, fully knowing I'd disappear on him or her once my free sessions were up. The day I went to film at KryoLife, owned and operated by Joanna Fryben,  I was actually feeling significant shoulder pain. Cryotherapy is hailed as a cure-all and people are using it to get rid of all kinds of things like acne, cellulite, unwanted weight, inflammation, depression, libido problems, and body injuries. To be perfectly honest, the TomTom Spark Cardio + Music frustrated me at first because therea€™s a bit of set up involved. I refer to my life as a juggling act because there are so many facets of what I do that need to be in constant motion. In fact, I have more than a few waist trainers that I've been using for over a year since becoming curious about the waist training trend.
As a Latina (my mother is Honduran), I'm feeling the need to spice up Thanksgiving with some Latin peppers. What follows are my favorite photographs from the day I conquered my fears with the Special Olympics of Missouri. You might think that living in downtown Manhattan, I already see it all when it comes to high style.
If you haven't been to any of Serene Social's wellness events yet, you're missing out and should definitely go to the one happening tomorrow in NYC at the launch of New York's Fashion Week.
I will be there and looking forward to some heart opening rooftop yoga atop the James Hotel in Soho.
So here's my Flat Stanley Skincare Secret: I seek out skincare that's packaged flat and in single servings. One of the best parts of going on a road trip adventure is everything that you see along your drive.
This trip will take us to some pretty amazing places where nature makes you feel empowered and free. Barre classes first came about in a big way in the 1950's on account of ballerina Lotte Berk.
Barre fitness is all about using small movements to work trouble spots and tone every inch of your body by working multiple muscles in unison. It beats being ohm-ing indoors, especially with the cool breeze off the harbor blowing through your hair.
Earlier this summer, I spent one of the most amazing and healthiest travel weekends of my life at the Four Seasons Baltimore. I first saw a pair of Vira Suns on my yoga-instructor-friend, Lauren Imparato, during a yoga class in the middle of Times Square. What sets this year's event apart from the last few, aside from the bearably cooler weather, was yoga-preneur Lauren Imparato leading the highly publicized morning class.
After years of dealing with this issue called a€?sleevage,a€? Ia€™ve concluded that most bras Ia€™ve worn are actually the real culprits.
Before you give a listen though, I want to share my thoughts on what Katya Meyers is doing. I got in touch with the designer, Geneva Peschka from SunandDaughtersCo on Etsy, to find out more about the inspiration behind the shirt.
Geneva bravely decided to act on the lessons she learned through these books and noticed her life change drastically for the better. The new Lotus Print collection by adidas Originals is urban, striking and feminine in a cool, unapologetic way.
If you're a Zumba fanatic, you should know that the cruise doesn't set sail for another 7 months from Fort Lauderdale, Florida but at least you have some time to plan, right? And just in case you stop dancing to see where the hell you're going, the cruise will be sailing to Falmouth, Jamaica with a stop in Labadee, Haiti for a private live concert featuring the hottest Caribbean artists.
While the entire Team SCA crew was not on board, 2 of its sailors were there to answer all my questions. Their sail, while impressive in it's own right, represents something far greater for women. From your clothes to accessories and gadgets, don't take a risk by wearing it for the first time on race day!
FOR an exclusive womena€™s fitness class combining Surfset Fitness (the NEW surf-fitness trend) and Real Ryder Spinning (35 minutes of each). I picked out some rather loud styles for our shoot but once I got comfortable in them, I had no qualms wearing them "off-set".
Short girls are always getting brainwashed into thinking we can't pull off more eccentric looks or fashion trends that taller girls can get away with. Leave a comment below telling me which fitness myth gets under your skin and why it's soooo untrue.
If there's something you should know about me it's that I avoid tourist traps at all costs!
For the sake of being accurate, let's call these dangerous deodorants what they really are, which is antiperspirants.
It's totally blowing my mind but at the same time I keep asking myself: why should this feel surreal? I typically only share my press features on my press page, but today I'm expecially THANKFUL because this issue of People Style Watch marks the 12th time I've been quoted in their magazine.
One of the most classic New Year's resolutions is to start going to the gym more, which is exactly why gyms start hiking up their enrollment fees around this time. I was there to buy an assortment of chocolates for my Aunt as a combined birthday and Valentine's Day gift. I make yoga dates with my girlfriends constantly because I feel like I get the most quality time with them during this workout than any other. This is Nicola Yvette, my longtime friend who teaches yoga & pilates (check her out here). Last night we went on yoga date to Laughing Lotus Yoga NYC and it was pretty awesome to experience her energy and soulfulness right beside me. People dona€™t just show up to classa€¦they show up wearing designer sportswear and the latest in tracking accessories.
If you're looking to visit NYC or take a staycation yourself, keep reading for details about the GIVEAWAY I'm offering with Dream Hotels. When I entered my room at the Dream Hotel Midtown, this was the first thing I saw: a framed picture of my 2 puggles, a bottle of champagne and a gluten-free birthday cake! A hospital in Zhejiang province is looking for 100 volunteers to donate menstrual blood to a research team studying stem cells, its lead researcher said. Professor Xiang Chunsheng from Zhejiang University International Hospital in Hangzhou, who heads the project, said stem cells in menstrual blood have similar regenerative properties to those found in umbilical cords and bone marrow, both of which are currently widely studied. His team is looking for women aged between 18 and 40 who have regular menstrual cycles and who are free from infectious diseases and have not terminated a pregnancy during the past half year. Participants will have the incentive of knowing they are not only helping with the research but that their stem cells will be stored for free for two years. Worldwide, stem cells from menstrual blood have proved effective in treating diseases including hepatocirrhosis (cirrhosis of the liver), diabetes and heart attacks.
Currently, stem cells are usually drawn from either embryos or adult tissue, medical experts said. Embryonic stem cells can give rise to almost any cell type in the human body, but they are controversial ethically because the procedures for obtaining them might involve the destruction of an embryo.
Adult stem cells, such as those in bone marrow, have limited use and their collection usually requires invasive procedures.
By comparison, menstrual stem cells offer several advantages because they are easy to get without ethical considerations and they can be used to treat patients without fear of tissue rejection, according to Xiang.
In a trial study in 2003, menstrual stem cells were used to repair lung damage in a man infected with the bird flu virus H7N9, Xiang said. Nationwide, China's top health authority last year issued the nation's first regulation concerning stem cell clinical trials, with the aim of ensuring its healthy but cautious development. All related clinical trials into stem cells require transparency and government supervision, the regulations stipulate. The approval of the female condom allows United Nations agencies and other international purchasers to obtain the device for distribution to the public sector.
The recently approved model, branded O'lavie in China, was created to provide enhanced sensation for men and may also provide more protection from skin-to-skin transmitted diseases such as herpes and the human papilloma virus. The female condom was jointly developed by the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health, known as PATH, the Conrad N. With funding from the Netherlands' Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PATH established the Protection Options for Women Product Development Partnership, aimed at building a supply-and-demand model for the female condom. Female condoms account for approximately 0.2 percent of global condom sales, based on data from the Reproductive Health Interchange, a reproductive health procurement and information service managed by the UN Population Fund. The three vessels, CNS Wuyishan, CNS Culaishan and CNS Wutaishan, were delivered to the East Sea Fleet at an unidentified naval port on Monday, the Navy said in a news release. The ships are armed with close-in weapons systems capable of hitting mid- and short-range targets, and include a flight pad that can accommodate a helicopter. The ships will strengthen the Navy's capabilities in joint landing operations and transportation, the news release said. According to IHS Jane's Navy International, the new-type vessel is able to transport 10 armored vehicles and 250 fully armed troops, which means that three ships can ferry roughly an entire amphibious assault battalion. This is the first time the PLA has received three ships in a single day, even at a time of unprecedented upgrades since 2012. However, much of the Navy's new equipment is still not as good as that of their counterparts in the United States Navy and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, according to a PLA officer who wished not to be named. Three vessels, CNS Wuyishan, CNS Culaishan and CNS Wutaishan, are delivered to the East Sea Fleet at an unidentified naval port on Monday.
After its doors opened on Tuesday in Lhasa, more than 1,000 customers came to eat, according to store manager Yu Zhengqing. It remained crowded on Wednesday, with locals forming long lines inside the restaurant and kids posing for photos in front.
Locals form long lines in the new KFC restaurant in Lhasa, Tibet autonomous region, on Wednesday, its second day of business. Yu said they expect the store, which covers more than 500 square meters, to serve an average of 1,000 customers on normal days.
Food materials, including frozen chicken, are flown in from Xi'an, in neighboring Shaanxi province, which adds to the cost "and explains why the menu in Lhasa is priced higher than outlets in the other inland cities", Yu said. A sandwich meal with chicken wings, cola and French fries is 40 yuan ($6.10) in Lhasa, while it is 31 yuan in inland cities.
Despite the higher price, Yang Yanfang, a 23-year-old civil servant from Yunnan province who is working on a two-year project in Lhasa, found the branch appealing.
The store also incorporates local design elements like a large image of the Potala Palace and triangle motifs labeled with Tibetan mountain names in English. On Wednesday afternoon, most customers were under age 40, and half were local ethnic Tibetans. Currently, the outlet recruits 40 employees, half of them from Tibet, including eight ethnic Tibetans, Yu said.
In 2004, KFC shelved plans to open in Tibet, saying it was not "economically feasible", according to Reuters. Tibet will spend 490 million yuan ($75 million) over the next five years to improve and protect 156 sky burial sites, local authorities said on Wednesday. The market value for Chinese soccer club Guangzhou Evergrande was $3.35 billion after trading ended on Tuesday on China's National Equities Exchange and Quotations. Some 15 million migrant workers are expected to join Chinese trade unions this year, Li Yufu, vice-chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, said on Wednesday. Praising the province for its 0.8 percent export growth last year, he urged the manufacturing powerhouse to further sharpen competitiveness.
He made the remarks to about 160 deputies from Guangdong to the National People's Congress when he joined them for a panel discussion on Wednesday.
Guangdong was at the forefront of the nation's reform and opening-up policy during the 1980s. Export growth is high on Li's agenda in meetings with deputies from four provinces during this year's NPC annual session. Many in the Guangdong delegation own some of the most successful businesses in China, such as Ma Hua-Teng, chairman and CEO of Tencent Holdings, one of the country's largest private Internet service portals based in Guangdong, and Dong Mingzhu, president of Gree Electric Appliances. Li said a key factor for the Chinese economy to achieve medium to high economic growth is to join competition in developed countries.
He said this will be more challenging for China, as the competition for quality in developed countries is higher. Zhong Nanshan, a respiratory expert and academic at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said China also needs to improve its ability to build more good-quality air purifying machines. Xu Hongcai, an economist at the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, said real technology innovation is a key factor for Guangdong products to be able to compete in foreign markets.
Premier Li Keqiang meets with Guangdong deputies to the annual session of the NPC during a panel discussion in Beijing on Wednesday. As the nation prepares for the 2022 Winter Olympics and the Asian Games in the same year, the post-event operation of giant stadiums is a subject of concern for Yao, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee. Yao played for nine years in the NBA in the United States from 2002, experiencing the multifunctional operation of sporting facilities there. He has combined his overseas findings with local research into a proposal by the CPPCC, the country's top political advisory body, for giant stadiums to be built and run efficiently in China. His concerns match the research findings of Lin Xianpeng, a sports industry professor at Beijing Sport University, who studied 775 major sports venues nationwide with his team in the past three years. Lin found most facilities in remote city suburbs, such as venues for the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou and the 2011 Shenzhen Universiade, struggled to operate at a profit without sustainable business modes after staging these events.
Lin said there are far more large sporting venues in China to host major events than there are accessible neighborhood facilities for people to exercise.
With the Winter Olympics being held in Beijing and the Asian Games in Hangzhou, in 2022, Yao suggested that post-event operational plans and future business modes should be assessed before construction starts. In Beijing, it is planned to build just one new permanent venue, the National Speed Skating Oval, for the Winter Olympics, with most events being staged at venues used for the 2008 Olympic Games and at temporary facilities. To help more existing venues operate at a profit, Yao suggested that property owners - mostly local governments and State-owned enterprises - should introduce third-party agencies or professional sports clubs as shareholders. They could run venues to host events such as concerts, exhibitions and tourism carnivals as well as professional sports events on a regular basis.
Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the top legislative body, said a law will be drawn up on international criminal judicial assistance this year. He made the comments as he delivered the committee's work report to the annual session of the NPC. Top lawmakers will also work on a law on the management of international NGOs in China and a law focusing on cybersecurity, Zhang said. Huang Feng, a law professor at Beijing Normal University specializing in repatriation and extradition issues, welcomed legislation on international criminal judicial assistance, saying that introducing such a law would contribute more to China's future work in this area.
He said the upcoming legislation will focus mainly on goods "or the problem of asset recovery, investigation and evidence collection" which will be written into the legislation with the aim of solving related problems.
Top legislator Zhang Dejiang delivers the NPC Standing Committee work report at the annual session in Beijing on Wednesday. On March 4, the day before the start of the annual session of China's legislature, a reporter asked the country's top legislators why they planned to review the final draft of a new charity law in preference to "more important" legislation.
Given the weighty subjects under discussion at the annual gathering, the question was appropriate, but it also revealed the mainstream Chinese view of philanthropy: For many people, charity is irrelevant to their lives. However, the draft of a new law that was submitted for review on Wednesday aims to regulate and develop the sector, and is expected to provide a vital shot in the arm for charities.
Wang Ming, president of the NGO Research Institute at Tsinghua University and also a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, called the proposed legislation a "milestone" in Chinese philanthropy.
With the fast development of philanthropy, China urgently needs a comprehensive charity law that will protect the rights of donors and the needy, and punish fraudulent operators, she said. Li Yuling, honorary president of the China Charity Federation, said the sector has been harmed by negative publicity and a poor public image, especially as some entrepreneurs conduct their businesses under the guise of charity, which has resulted in misunderstandings and mistrust.
Kan Ke, deputy director of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee, acknowledged the problem: "We have to admit the public has had doubts and lost some trust in the charity sector after a number of donation scandals in recent years. The case involved a young woman, Guo Meimei, who posted photos of herself with luxury cars and expensive handbags on Weibo, China's Twitter-like social media platform.
Although it was later revealed that Guo had no links with the charity, public trust had been undermined, resulting in a severe decline in donations to the Red Cross Society of China.
Kan said the proposed legislation aims to improve the development of the charity sector, raising public awareness and encouraging more people to donate money. According to the 2015 CAF World Giving Index, published in November by the Charitable Aid Foundation in London, Chinese people are reluctant to donate money to charities or volunteer to help. Fung Danlai, a CPPCC National Committee member and a former member of the board of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, said: "Just as many international NGOs play important roles in helping governments take care of people in need in their countries, it should be the same in China.
A comprehensive legal framework will be an essential factor in improving transparency and funding for social organizations in the Chinese mainland, according to Fung: "Charitable organizations and the people involved should follow the law. Kan, from the NPC, said the complicated registration procedures for charitable organizations have discouraged both individuals and organizations from joining the sector. According to Li Yuling, from the China Charity Federation, the new law will streamline administration of the sector. Li Jing, from the One Foundation, believes the legislation will give organizations greater independence.
Under the current legislation, the cost of administering individual donations, which includes salaries of staff members, cannot account for more than 10 percent of the total annual donation. Meanwhile, Diana Tsui, head of Global Philanthropy for Asia Pacific at JPMorgan Chase, said the legislation will provide greater clarity and supervision. While charity sector professionals have been debating the implementation of the new law, and many NPC deputies have submitted proposals and suggestions during the two sessions, Li Jing said implementation will just be the first step in the process, and charitable organizations will have to play their part, too. The draft uses a broader definition of charity than the traditional one of helping the poor. Wuxi, a city in Jiangsu province that has thrived on traditional manufacturing industries for decades, is looking to upgrade its industrial structure for more sustainable growth, said the city's top leader. The city, which is located at the point where Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces meet, has been a transportation hub since ancient times.
Wuxi has been at the forefront of China's reform and opening-up initiative thanks to the fast growth of its small township enterprises since the 1980s. But, with the city facing the same challenges that the Chinese economy faces, with rising labor costs, pollution concerns and a desire to see more innovation and high technology, Li said it is time to shift the emphasis. The city has implemented a campaign to "replace human labor with mechanization" and wants to build intelligent factories, digital workshops and undertake robot research and development. In May, Samsung SDI signed a memorandum with the Wuxi government to invest $180 million in the city and build a diffuser plant covering an area of 30 to 40 million square meters.
Wuxi Research Institute, a research center built in collaboration with Huazhong University of Science and Technology, has been doing research in areas such as photoelectricity, new material and new energy.
Ecological tourism to places of historical interest and in rural areas has been helping Wuxi, Jiangsu province, tackle its water pollution problem, particularly the water quality of Taihu Lake. The term "eutrophic" refers to water with an oversupply of nutrients from fertilizers, detergents, sewage or other materials that induce rapid algae growth, which in turn cuts oxygen in the aquatic system.
Wu Guoping, board chairman of Wuxi Lingshan Cultural Tourism Group, attested to the lake's recovering trend. Zhu Hong, deputy head of a Wuxi district, said ecological tourism has become a growing source of income for residents. Tourism in rural areas, where tourists stay in residents' houses and enjoy fresh farm produce, has not only created jobs but also makes the village more beautiful, Zhu said. At a news conference organized by the State Council Information Office in Beijing on Wednesday, Huang Shouhong, vice-director of the State Council's Research Office, and Ma Jiantang, vice-head of the Chinese Academy of Governance, responded to reporters' queries about the Government Work Report. Huang and Ma were key participants in the drafting of the report, which took half a year and refers to thousands of suggestions from governments at various levels, think tanks at home and abroad, enterprises and individuals. Huang said some foreign media outlets intentionally exaggerate the potential risks from the slowdown of China's economy.
Last year, 120 million Chinese traveled abroad, spending more than 1 trillion yuan ($154 billion), and the two figures have continued their rapid rise over the previous year. He said railway transport volume only accounts for 8 percent of the overall transport volume in China, and 50 percent of railway transport capacity is used to ship coal, the main source of emissions, and the heavy chemical industry uses 70 percent of electricity. Li said decades of peaceful development of cross-Straits relations have been based on the mutual acknowledgment of the 1992 Consensus, which says both Taiwan and the mainland are part of one China. Li expects Tsai Ing-wen, chairwoman of the pro-independence Democratic Progressive Party, who won the island's leadership election in January, to clearly show her stand on the 1992 consensus when she takes office on May 20.
Citing the momentous meeting between Xi Jinping and Ma Ying-jeou in November, Li said cross-Straits relations have greatly improved in past decades, but without acknowledging the 1992 Consensus the possibility of Xi meeting the island's new leader is "very limited". Xi said on Saturday that the 1992 Consensus explicitly defines the nature of the cross-Straits relationship and is crucial to the stable and long-term development of cross-Straits ties. The president's words confirmed again the authority's determination to safeguard China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, Zheng Jianbang, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of Chinese Kuomintang, said at the conference. Li Yihu, NPC deputy and head of the Taiwan Institute of Peking University, answers questions on Wednesday.
Chen Deming, president of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, said on Tuesday that the infrastructure projects proposed in the new five-year plan, including a high-speed railway linking Beijing and Taipei, are only some of the ideas from the mainland, and the implementation would require cooperation across the Straits. Chen said the mainland has taken into account how to benefit the people and economy in Taiwan during the process of drafting the new five-year plan. Zhang Zhaomin, director of the administrative committee of the free trade zone in Pingtan county, Fujian province, said on Wednesday that the technical factors of the high-speed railway across the Straits is no longer a problem, after four consecutive years of technical seminars between scholars across the Straits. Zhang, who is also a deputy to the National People's Congress, said the preferred route right now is an undersea tunnel as long as 126 kilometers starting from Pingtan.
Chen confirmed that there has been a decline in the number of tourists traveling on tour groups from the mainland to Taiwan recently.
He said the fall in the number of tour group travelers could have been caused by multiple factors. Chen said the interaction between the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits and the Straits Exchange Foundation in the future would also be decided after it is seen whether there is common political ground across the Straits after May 20.
While China's economy has experienced eye-catching growth during the last few decades, one of the most notable achievements has been the alleviation of poverty in the country.
The World Bank estimated that the number of people living in extreme poverty in China decreased from 836 million in 1987 to 156 million in 2010. At the same time, some families still living in rural areas abandoned farming and cultivation, trying their hands at nonagricultural jobs that were higher paid.
Furthermore, along with economic development and living standard enhancement, poverty should be measured from multiple angles, not only income. One year later, many firms are doing great work online, but there are still enterprises in traditional sectors that have no idea how to link their business to the Web. Chinese tech firms put out an array of excellent practices in both consumer and enterprise markets after Li advocated a wider use of IT technologies in traditional industries to lift efficiency and the quality of products and services. Giant companies, including Alibaba and Tencent, took advantage of Internet Plus to expand their businesses in more traditionally offline segments, including financial services, imports and entertainment. Pony Ma, a National People's Congress deputy and the chairman of Tencent, said in his motion submitted to the legislature that the country should give greater support to Internet use in rural areas.
But for factories, mining and more labor-intensive sectors, putting their business online could be a tough task. Back then, a great number of executives were excited about the dawning of a new era for their business management and could not wait to see how a fluffy mass of liquid droplets up in the air could help them hire fewer accountants or warehouse workers.
Half a decade has past and it turns out cloud computing is still holding up its earliest customers in finance and energy sectors.
I do not think Premier Li introduced the Internet Plus initiative just to boost the slowing future economy: Implementing new financial policies will be more effective in stimulating growth.
The initiative is instead aimed at tackling some of the long-term challenges in China's slack manufacturing sector, inefficient healthcare system and overloaded agricultural industry in the coming decades. In my interviews last year, a lot of entrepreneurs and government officials were confusing Internet Plus with other national strategies such as "Made in China 2025", a plan to upgrade the manufacturing sector.
It is easy to understand this confusion because these strategies touch some of the same problems but from different angles.
As an educator with more than 40 years of experience, I believe that family is the first school for children.
China plans to renovate an unprecedented 20 million buildings in its shantytowns during the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20).

Chinese wisdom and Buddhism culture play important roles in implementing the Belt and Road Initiative and in promoting mutual understanding to prevent and resolve conflicts along the Belt and Road countries. China is going to promote public transportation as the primary way to ease traffic congestion, which is a universal problem. The problem of ticket scalpers at hospitals reminds me of the scalpers of train tickets who were a serious problem at railway stations a few years ago. A basic medical insurance system has been established in China, which has covered more than 95 percent of all Chinese people in both urban and rural areas.
In addition, for patients who have serious financial difficulties, it is possible to apply through the civil affairs authorities for social relief, if they still find it difficult to cover their medical expenses after being helped by these programs. According to the Government Work Report, the government will increase investment in the basic medical insurance system this year. With the aging of the population, including in rural areas, the programs are expected to disproportionately benefit older people more than the young because older people will likely be more prone to illness. When we consider China's development level, at present it is not feasible for all subscribers to expect to have all of their medical expenses reimbursed but with increasing development of the economy, the basic medical insurance system will continue to improve and patients' medical burdens are likely to reduce further in the future. Premier Li Keqiang stressed this point during a meeting with deputies from Chongqing on Tuesday during the annual session of the National People's Congress, where he heard their suggestions. Chongqing headed GDP growth in China last year, with an 11 percent expansion year-on-year, while the national figure fell to 6.9 percent. Premier Li Keqiang joins Chongqing deputies to the National People's Congress for a photograph after a panel discussion in Beijing on Tuesday, which marked International Women's Day. He urged the municipality to introduce diverse measures to generate new economic driving forces, such as the service industry, and to upgrade traditional industries. Chongqing lies at the intersection of the route for China's Belt and Road Initiative and the country's Yangtze River Economic Belt. Chongqing also hosts the third government-to-government project between China and Singapore.
Zhang Xiaode, a regional economist at the Chinese Academy of Governance, said Chongqing has high geographic importance in central and western China, as it has performed better than neighboring provinces. Delegating power to lower levels was stressed repeatedly by Li during Tuesday's meeting as he focused on cultivating local expertise. Liu Xiya, a deputy and principal of Xiejiawan Primary School in Chongqing, said she hopes that local primary schools can be given more power over teaching subjects, eliciting a warm response. He agreed to Liu's request for a group photo with all the female deputies from Chongqing after the meeting, as Tuesday marked International Women's Day. During a panel discussion with lawmakers from Hunan province, Guo Jianqun, a lawmaker from an ethnic minority group, told of the experience in fighting poverty in a village that Xi has visited. After inquiring about the increase in the village's per capita income, Xi asked, "How many of the single men there got married last year?
Guo said the village has more than 20 men who are considered far above a prime age for marriage, as few women there wanted to wed due to poverty.
Shibadong, a mountainous village that is home mainly to the Miao ethnic group, has suffered poverty due to a severe shortage of arable land and poor transportation. Xi visited the village in 2013 and asked the local government to help it to alleviate poverty through tailor-made measures. He said it was the first place where he had raised the concept of targeted poverty alleviation.
Innovative growth will be the key topic on the G20 agenda, and China wants to inject new momentum into the world economy through reform, he said. He said the summit will seek answers on how to emerge from a bleak economic situation, how to find new sources of growth and how to effectively coordinate policies. China will stress the importance of reform, especially structural reform, and encourage major economies to build a new consensus and work together to put the world economy back on the path to a strong recovery, he added.
Wang called on G20 members to show leadership in developing plans to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, to catalyze inclusive and interconnected development globally. Foreign Minister Wang Yi held his longest news conference on Tuesday, taking 19 questions in two hours.
The question was: "President Xi Jinping made eight overseas visits last year, and, Mr Foreign Minister, you spent almost as much time up in the air as you did on the ground. In the other example, he said the Foreign Ministry set up a forum last week to enable foreign ambassadors and overseas businessmen in China to learn about the business potential in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region. Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said Wang supported the Information Department's idea to select questions from netizens. Whether or not to have a second child has become a burning and urgent question for mill-ions of Chinese couples who recently became eligible to have two children under the terms of China's revised family planning policy.
Li Liangyu, a 36-year-old working mother in Beijing, has been discussing the issue with husband since December, when the central government announced the universal second-child policy. Like many children, Li's daughter attends a range of after-school activities, such as learning to play the piano, painting and dancing, which puts further strain on their budget.
The quandary is even more difficult for residents of mega-cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, where a lack of quality educational resources means parents are often required to pay extremely high prices to buy a home in an area with good schools.
According to government estimates, China will see a maximum 9 million more babies in the next three years. The potential strain on family finances has led many couples to abandon the idea of having a second child. At the end of 2013, the government made the first move to ease the decades-old policy that restricted most couples to one child.
Wang Pei'an, the commission's deputy director, urged other government agencies, such as the ministries of education, finance, and human resources and social security, to draw up favorable measures and policies to encourage larger families. Revision of the family planning policy is expected to add at least 30 million people to China's working-age population by 2050, helping the nation to curb a looming labor shortage, Wang told a media briefing in January.
By 2050, China's labor force ages 15 to 59, which has dwindled continuously since peaking at 940 million in 2012, is predicted to reach 700 million, as a result of the new policy. According to demographers, the population will peak at 1.45 billion sometime around 2030, and will then begin to fall.
By 2050, the policy will have resulted in an extra 150 million people, bringing the overall population to about 1.38 billion. He urged the provision of financial incentives for couples who decide to have another child, and for those who suffered under the previous policy, particularly parents who lost their only child to disease or accident.
Authorities have finished drafting a program to reform individual income tax to benefit couples who choose to have a second child, and it will be submitted to the national legislature for review later this year, according to Lou Jiwei, China's finance minister. Economic growth, urbanization and opening-up policies were largely behind this achievement. They either burnt out or broke after 1 drop and then it was back to the Apple store for a new one.
Find out what's in store for you and please check out this Facebook Invitation (where I'd love for you to RSVP). I want you to be informed on all the possibilities of fitness instead of believing bogus stories that discourage you.
My aunt is no stranger to disease as a survivor of Melanoma tumors and having recently lost her beloved husband to Esophageal cancer, so I decided to take heed and do a little research of my own. Here are the lyrics if you would like to join in too.  The children were busy exploring the shape of a hexagon in different ways through out the week. Even if it doesn't (and if so, I'm jealous that you've mastered being a sane packer), I think this tip might come in handy.
Many thanks to Altchek MD for all the attention and for making my skin look so great at 36 years old.
I'm a hustler and a dreamer, which means I'm constantly working to grow my company and my career as a TV host. In the Chinese mainland, many retirees who want to find a new challenge or young people who have difficulty finding jobs, join charities.
Once, I toured in Moscow, and the director of a ballet company told me that he had little interest in how a theater company is managed. People are always judging but that's OK, I enjoy the path less traveled if it sparks my curiosity. Around the time I turned 12, my dad took me to get a "Mariah Carey" perm because I wanted Mariah's exact hair from her music video Someday. You'll eventually find yourself clicking on every square on his instagram profile much like I did. Ia€™m a sleeveless-outfit-kind-of-girl and my issue is finding a bra that makes the area where my underarm and side boob meet look shapely.
When they opened their hexagons up they were surprised to discover it was made up of 6 equal triangles. Ita€™s frustrating when you work out as much as I do to maintain an athletic physique, to look in the mirror and spot a bulge protruding from under your arm! I discovered there's a lot out there in the world of iPhone cases, and with a brand new iPhone 6 on my hands, I began to test. They traced the outline of the triangles and colored them in.  We built on their discovery by giving the children 6 different colored triangles to see if they could build a hexagon shape out of them. TMO Adventures provide an opportunity to realize a group's governing principles, values, ethics and practice core competencies in a safe and supportive environment. So I reached out to him to express my fandom and whadayaknow, he's the nicest guy on earth! Our challenges are experiential in nature and we encourage continued teamwork, realistic goal setting, honest feedback and shared learning in a experiential process which stimulates our creative thinking and problem solving skill sets. We  gave the children a blank sheet of paper and asked them to build a dinosaur out of hexagons, a rectangle, and a triangle. Reading: Diary of a worm, Diary of a Spider, recognizing and spelling the color word yellow. Music and Movement: hexagon shape song, yellow color song, Days of the week, and counting songs. Art: Triangle glue and paste activity, Dinosaur shape art, free art, tracing and coloring triangles and hexagonsScience: Mixing up compost for the garden, bean plant life cycle story, and observing just how fast the garden is growing! TMO Adventures provide an opportunity to realize a group's governing principles, values, ethics and practice core competencies in a safe and supportive environment.
It is always amazing for us to see where all our former graduates are and all they are accomplishing. The knowledge, confidence and good social skills they have gained here has led many of them to not only succeed in School but also in Dance, Sports, Art, Gymnastics, Drama, and the Girl and Boy Scouts. Many of our students are already in High School and their parents still say they are at the top of their class. These are quality adult programs designed for Outdoor Leadership & Professional Development. They  wore a cap and gown to receive their certificates and then ended the ceremony with glee by tossing their hats high into the air. We are so proud of all you have learned and of how confident, and responsible you too have become. Kindergarten better get ready for you because you are more than ready for Kindergarten.Choo Choo, we have come to the end of our Alphabet Train and the children know so much more about all of the letters from A-Z.
The children are learning to identify, spell, and write the color word for yellow all in an interactive song to help memory retention.  We hope you all have a Happy Father’s Day.
The children worked all week on making cards and  hand print trees for their Dads.  Pirates Ahoy June 16- 20, 2014Ahoy, Mateys! We will be using a pirate theme as a jumping off point to explore counting, science, reading, and geography through play and hands-on learning all Summer long. Each week we will pick a different ocean animal to focus on at Science Class and we will learn about it’s different traits and habits.
The children watched science clips through out the week as we explored the fascinating lives of different kinds of sharks. We learned about leopard sharks that are spotted all over, great white sharks, and even the prehistoric shark Megalodon who was over 50 ft. Ralphie visited a museum down in San Diego this weekend and the Museum Staff held up a big tooth and asked if any one knew who the tooth belonged to. It is always great to see that the children are not only learning new knowledge but are also able to apply that knowledge to new situations. We have such a smart group of children and they are all really advancing together as a group. Since our Fiesta Day in May the children have been practicing counting in English and in Spanish. The children are starting out learning to count from 1-10 in Spanish and we will see how high they can go. Asher and Catalina are proud to help teach their friends to count to 10 in Spanish and are eager to learn how to count higher. On Math Mondays we are practicing counting in Spanish along with our favorite Sesame Street Count. The children made the cutest pirates this week running around with all their pirate hats on. The little pirates kept busy counting shark teeth during Math and painting the deep blue sea with water colors at Art.
Victoria brought in her special sea shells from Florida to show her friends and we used the opportunity to show the children where the state is on the map. If you get the chance now is the perfect time to take your child to the aquarium or the beach to further enrich your child’s learning experience. We connected to the web with our Smart TV and watched a marine biologist feed an octopus at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The octopus uses the suckers to catch and taste it’s food and even wrapped it’s tentacles around the marine biologist’s arm.  The children are so interested that we will continue learning more about the octopus and the rest of the cephalopod family next week. This week the children have been engaging in activities that help them improve their large motor skills, the big movements that involve the muscles of the arms, legs, torso, and feet. We played soccer this week and the children watched a few minutes of the world cup to see how the game is played. The children are excited to watch her eat and grow and we will be incorporating her into our Science Program.
The aim of the game was to make it all the way across without falling into the “shark infested water” below. They had a lot of fun with the pretend play and it was good way to practice their balancing skills. We had a surprise visit on Monday from two of our former students Mia,  almost 7 years old and Jesse, 4. Mia graduated from our preschool program and then entered into her Kindergarten year at a private international school in South Korea where both of her parents who are U.S.
The children were excited to meet people who live in Asia and Mia was happy to be a special speaker about the continent she lives on.
Thomas and Amy, their parents said, “We love Korea but we miss Bubby’s.” Our preschool program helps lay a good foundation and gives our students the confidence needed for future success even if it is on the other side of the world!   ? ?      Copyright 2011 A Happy Daycare.
