I've talked a bit on and off since I began writing several years ago about how meditation has helped me in my life.
The easiest way to deal with the thought issue is actually also the easiest way to get started meditating - using guided meditation. Guided meditation is exactly what it sounds like - someone talks you through what you should be focusing on.
I think there is a way we can use our illnesses to get more in touch with ourselves, mind, body, and soul. In my post yesterday, I mentioned the problems that can occur in the eyes of people afflicted with Still's Disease. I have been staring at this blank screen all day, unable to find the words to talk about this wonderful human being. An open attitude. Having an open attitude during meditation means letting distractions come and go naturally without judging them. A quiet location. Meditation is usually practiced in a quiet place with as few distractions as possible. A specific, comfortable posture. Depending on the type being practiced, meditation can be done while sitting, lying down, standing, walking, or in other positions.
I've just designed a postcard to promote the meditation classes in Leeds that I'm now running. Ommeditation will help you meditate while you work, play, do household chores, take a shower, make love and learn to connect to your chakras and energy body, and integrate meditation into everything you do. Not every session has a real focus though - sometimes it's just to go through how your day was and check in with your emotions. We spend so much time wrapped up in our bodies, often ignoring what our mind is dealing with.


When the attention goes to distracting or wandering thoughts, they are not suppressed; instead, the meditator gently brings attention back to the focus. For example, the meditator may focus on a mantra (a specially chosen word or set of words), an object, or the sensations of the breath. It's a real challenge to describe the benefits people can get from meditation in just a few words. The natural way to de-stress, boost your energy levels while improving your health and wellbeing.

While Buddhism created what we refer to today as meditation, most religions and philosophies around the world utilize some form of meditation.
They have short meditations to ones last half an hour on a ton of different subjects from pain and illness to sleep to dealing with difficult emotions. There are plenty of tips and tricks out there to help you get started all over the internet.
There is also so much ableism out there, both external and internalized, that we begin to feel like we're not worth the time or effort to care for.
This force of Om tears the coverings, destroys unhealthy desires, hunger, and egoism and takes the aspirant to Self.
Some forms of meditation involve paying attention to whatever is the dominant content of consciousness. Most importantly you can begin to explore your inner self and discover from your own experiences just how amazing it is to finally connect with your deeper consciousness.

There are many subtle benefits of practicing meditation—greater intuition, compassion, awareness, focus, among others—but they are ancillary. More and more doctors are prescribing meditation to cure many stress related illnesses including anxiety, trauma and insomnia. The spiritual benefits are too numerous to list, and depend on the sincerity, orientation, and persistence of the spiritual seeker. Once imbibed into the daily routine, meditation becomes the best part of your day!  Watch how it slowly transforms you, and the world around you. Definitely, but I find I can be more in tune with my body and acknowledge the discomfort instead of just feeling the pain. She provides ways to do that as well as a safe space to talk spirituality or anything else you'd like. This spills over into our relationships with friends, intimacy with our partners, and our perception of how much we can achieve.
Mantras are a great way of people starting to explore their higher aspects (energy, chakras, kundalini etc) and as you say, they can be enjoyed anytime. I found her website shortly before Christmas and I really enjoy the things she puts out there. You can meditate using just a timer as well once you feel comfortable with guided meditation and want to move on to solo. The most powerful way to use a mantra is to focus on it completely as the more attention and energy you put into a mantra, the more you get its benefits.
