The Student Branding Blog, part of the Personal Branding Network, is the #1 resource for career and personal branding advice for high school, college and graduate students. You are a unique individual who brings your own personality, skills, and style to whatever you do.
I’m sure that as I get re-entrenched in work, the frustration with my home base will once again creep back. Dan Schawbel, the founder of the Student Branding Blog, is a world renowned personal branding expert, the international bestselling author of Me 2.0, as well as the publisher of the Personal Branding Blog. It is easy to get into a downward spiral when it comes to your fitness level or your weight, or your size, or whatever the heck is in style to feel bad about now.
You might have a fitness or nutrition coach, a workout buddy, or just some like-minded friends that you gain inspiration from that constantly inspire your journey.
Originally this was my journey to Tough Mudder…now it's my record of all things fitness and health! Life isn’t all about money, cars or who has the biggest house; it’s about being alive and being able to experience what life has to offer. Truly, the smaller things in life are meant to be cherished and appreciated; a hug from a loved one, someone calling you just to check up on you and see how you’re doing—it is things like that that help to make life so much more fulfilling and beautiful. Yes, we need to have jobs, houses, cars and things like that, but think of those things as bonuses—a bonus to the most beautiful thing that we own: Life! It was great to be away and to take a short break from work before the fall semester begins. This summer, I learned that vacations can do two different things: they can help you appreciate other places in the world, and they can help you appreciate what you already have back home. You will meet other students building incredible brands, people who are already developing into great professionals before graduating.
Sometimes when you’re too close to something, you stop seeing what makes that thing good. Sometimes life may not always be enjoyable, but the fact that you can endure, and can wake up to see another day should persuade and encourage you. We become so encapsulated in the material things of the world that we fail to hold close what is near and dear to us. Those things shouldn’t define who you are, but rather should enhance and encourage you to want to live, grow and develop. They might be hidden behind rudeness, arrogance, shamelessness and many other social diseases… but they are awesome, as we all our created beautifully by the same Creator.
If, after listening appreciation from your side, surprises the person, you needed this book anyways! You will encounter seasoned professionals with impressive backgrounds and with well-respected brands.
Just like when traveling, sometimes you don’t realize what you love about home until you leave it.

We hear on the news, read in the newspapers, and hear on the radio about people who have died in tragic accidents, yet, we are here and have seen a new day.
You should realise that you have a destiny to fulfil, that you was not put here by accident.
It’s not our fault, the way the world is evolving each day, with new technology being released, and so many other things that will take our focus away from what truly matters. Appreciation is a pure act of acknowledging someone’s efforts or act, without any desire of return of favor in mind.
Of course, I wouldn’t recommend trying to have some sort of out-of-body experience to gain an appreciation for yourself. It is another chance to begin to do what you always wanted, to live the best life and to make decisions that will move you from where you are, to where you want to be. There’s so much that we take for granted; the fact that we can walk, talk, breathe, raise our arms, hear, see—there are people out there who wish to be in the position that we are in but are unable to do the simplest of things.
