Open, or public, courses in Maidstone are held at the Baptist Church whilst those in Orpington are at Westcombe Park Rugby Club. Do take a look at our course diary to find a date that suits you or call us if you have any questions. Jeremy & Fiona Hinchliffe have a wealth of experience in the First Aid world having first qualified as first aiders over 30 years.
Not only do they teach first aid but the regularly put it into practice covering  events ranging from school sports days to rugby festivals, horse shows and firework displays so bring plenty of practical experience to the courses although Fiona is now more office based. The have a small, select group of trainers who work for them many of whom are either medically trained, ambulance personnel or active event first aiders so you can be sure that our teaching is not just theory based. We are members of the Federation of First Aid Training Organisation (FoFATO) and are fully insured for both first aid training and event cover. We are a registered centre for Qualsafe who are the leading Awarding Organisation in the UK and are fully regulated by Ofqual. We are proud to be associated with the Fredericks Foundation who helped us by providing much needed capital that allowed us to start our business and we continue to support them and their works.
As we do not have high overheads we are able to maintain our prices at a competitive level which is especially useful in these constrained times. For a small fee we can carry out a First Aid needs assessment in line with HSE guidelines and make recommendations as to the level of first aid cover and equipment you need. The next Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course will be run on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th January 2015. Volunteer First Aiders working with Junior or Mini Section teams will need to have a valid DBS check (arranged through the club). The Emergency First Aid at Work course is designed to enable the Emergency First Aider in a low risk environment in the workplace to carry out appropriate first aid in an emergency. Health and Safety Regulations require that an employer provides suitable first aid arrangements for any persons injured in the workplace.
At the end of the course the candidate will be able to manage a casualty who is injured at work, or suffers a serious illness, while waiting for more qualified medical help to arrive.

Separation anxiety reaches its peak in babies aged 14-18 months and typically decreases throughout early childhood. Stranger anxiety is similar to separation anxiety and involves wariness and distress in the presence of unfamiliar people. As children reach preschool and school age, they’re less likely to experience separation anxiety. If children in this age group seem particularly and regularly distressed about being separated from their parents, it’s possible they might have separation anxiety disorder. If your child is suffering from separation anxiety, there are lots of things you can do to help him. Read about the stepladder approach, a gentle behaviour technique used to help children who suffer from separation anxiety. To increase your child’s feelings of safety, let her take something she loves from home, such as a teddy bear, pillow or blanket.

Educators provide opportunities for children to play and discover as part of their learning. We help children develop essential life skills and explore their creative side through developmental drama programs while providing them with the necessary life skills to perpare them for life after school. The joy of learning drama with us will boost your child's enthusiasm and energy levels, helping them to feel more positive about themselves and the world around them. It can occur from 8-10 months and usually decreases after the child’s first birthday. After all, these anxieties happen when children are becoming more mobile, so they make sense from a survival point of view. According to a 2009 study, 4% of preschoolers and school-age children develop this condition.
If you seem worried or sad, your child might think the place isn’t safe and can get upset too.
A very small number of preschoolers and school-age children develop a more serious form of the condition, called separation anxiety disorder.
That is, if children could crawl or walk away from their carers but weren’t afraid of separation or strangers, they would get lost more easily. This service includes children participating in planned and spontaneous activities, along with any school homework to be completed.
