Backing up a Website
DropSync can be used to backup a remotely hosted website to a local computer.
Web backups will only work if your website hosting service provides shell access via ssh, or if you can make the website content appear as a volume in Finder
To backup the public_html or equivalent folder on a website:
- Create a new SSH Synced Place and name it Web Backup or something similar
- Set the Synced Place root path to be the absolute path to the directory which contains the public_html directory
- Set the Local root to the location on your local computer where you want the backup to reside.
- Configure login credentials for the SSH Synced place
- Add the public_html or desired web directory to DropSync by selecting it in the Browser view
- Click the green down arrow in the DropSync toolbar to initiate a sync
