Frequently Asked Questions

What is meant by HMH Rostering Service's centralized data store?

The HMH Rostering Service is a centralized data store, offering a single set of tools to manage users for Ed, Heinemann Flight, and NWEA.

We believe in saving you time and improving security while maximizing the instructional time for the classroom. Adding data to multiple platforms or building rostering integrations across each and every digital software a school or district may purchase while trying to manage the success/failure of those integrations daily is very challenging. When a new product is purchased and then you have to wait for rostering to be completed, it delays the start up time for those digital products to be used and incorporated into the classroom instruction.

To help alleviate these challenges, we have integrated a solution that will allow a single data ingestion for all users, classes, and enrollments that any of these supporting platforms can use. This means you can build one integration connection via any of these supporting platforms, and all of these connected platforms can use that data if you have purchased content for any of those applications. Whenever new features are added to the rostering data store, they will be available to all supporting platforms. One connection to support multiple platforms!

What is meant by common login?

One of the major benefits of a centralized data store is the ability to have a single username and password to access systems like Ed, Flight, and NWEA. If you change it in one platform, it applies to all platforms.

Can I opt out of a central login store?

No, HMH solutions are moving to a centralized store for an integrated product experience. System access can be restricted based on license assignment where necessary.

Do I need to change the roster to access “Profile Selector”?

Yes, if a single user has multiple accounts, the roster must include all associated roles and schools in one record.

What are "Legacy Systems" and how do they fit in with the centralized data store?

HMH Legacy Systems include the ThinkCentral (TC) and Holt McDougal Online (HMO) platforms. They can be rostered using HMH Rostering Service. However, not all data will flow to TC and/or HMO. For example, team teachers, administrator accounts, additional IDs, and demographic/characteristic data do not go to TC or HMO, If you do not require your data to be used in Ed or NWEA and only use TC or HMO, you can roster using a decentralized solution. For more details, see HMH Legacy Systems.
