An uncomfortable collar will hurt your dog and will turn walking and training into a highly unpleasant experience for both of you. ALU™Leather is made out of the best available biodegradable latigo vegetable-tanned full-grain leather, which is thoroughly hand-finished with waxes, creams and oils. ALU™Leather uses the ALU™Buckle and D-Ring, which are CNC machined from aircraft grade scratch-resistant aluminum and incorporates rare earth magnets for easy fastening. ALU™Leather is best for highly energetic and strong dogs who pull, who love to play, or can get nervous and aggressive in the presence of other dogs.
Many people are turning to raw meat diets for their pets to alleviate various health concerns. The collar or harness should be constructed so that it is difficult, if not impossible, for your dog to slip out or otherwise escape from it. The collar or harness should give you, the handler, good control over your dog and discourage or prevent him from pulling. Flat collars are the standard collars for dogs that consist of a flat strip of fabric with a buckle or snap closure and are most common thing I see people using to walk their dogs. Martingale collars are similar to flat collars but have an additional loop of material that allows the collar to tighten around the dog’s neck when the dog pulls.
So if you want to avoid putting pressure your dog’s neck, a harness is a logical choice, and harnesses are much harder for the average dog to slip out of than most collars.
Often called no-pull harnesses, front-clip harnesses offer all the advantages of standard harnesses for your dog and in addition discourage pulling. For many dog owners their dog’s collar is more than something to attach their dog’s ID tag to.
These collars are made out of woven nylon mesh, they come in variety of sizes, colors, and patterns and have either a metal or plastic buckle. Often you want to include more information about your dog beyond just his name and your phone number. ALU™Leather will help you to have better control of your dog and will ease the training process. A leather collar is the regarded as the strongest, most practical, and most comfortable dog collars. I’ve also witnessed a number of collars and harnesses fail in one way or another to keep the dog safe and the handler in control. When properly adjusted this prevents the dog from slipping out of his collar without tightening so much that it chokes him.

They do prevent dogs from slipping out and can be used to train your dog not to pull, but the intent of these collars is to cause your dog pain. As the name implies, you clip the leash to the front of the harness, and if your dog tries to pull, he gets turned around toward you.
Head collars have two straps one that goes high around the dog’s neck just behind his ears and another that goes over his muzzle, and the leash is a attached to the bottom of the muzzle strap. Perhaps your dog has special medical needs or gets aggressive or frightened in certain situations. There are many things to consider to ensure that you purchase the right collar for your pup.
I have experienced dogs backing or slipping out of a flat collar in the blink of an eye on numerous occasions, and a flat collar does not discourage a dog from pulling at all. While all dogs should be taught loose leash walking and the handler should avoid jerking the leash and not use a retractable leash, neck collars make it too easy for accidental damage to occur. At best they are an unpleasant experience for your dog, at worse they can lead to aggressive behavior or seriously injure your dog. The problem with back-clip harnesses is that rather than discouraging pulling, they actually give your dog greater leverage and making it easier for him to pull and giving you less control. If your dog tries to pull when wearing a head collar, his head is pulled down and he does not have the leverage to be able to pull the full weight of his body. If you are an inexperienced dog owner you might not even realize that there is a big difference between high-quality collars, and cheap solutions that just look cute. It has an easy leash attachment and could be customized with your dog’s name and a contact information. Over time oils from the dogs skin mix with the leather to give it a buttery soft texture, which will make this collar even more stylish. Front-clip harnesses work well for most dogs, but may not be enough to stop a very strong and determined dog from pulling.
Not all dogs enjoy the feeling of a head collar on their face, and it can take some time for them to become accustomed to it. If your dog is very active, loves to play with his belongings, lets other dogs to chew and drool on his collar – basically does all the things a happy and healthy dogs does, you end up replacing nylon collars fairly often.
Watch how the buckle comes together here on the company’s youtube channel MEMA pets on Youtube. It is also very important that you do not yank on the leash when using a head collar as this could injure your dog’s neck.

For these reasons, I usually only recommend head collars for dogs whose pulling can’t be adequately controlled with a front-clip harness. The low-cost leather collars available in pet supermarkets are not always the best solution either. It could happen in front of an approaching vehicle or with an aggressive dog, or just because your dog got distressed by a perceived danger and suddenly jerks. If you are a responsible owner, buying a dog collar should also trigger a consideration about the well-being of your dog. For instance, if your dog is a water hound, you should look for a waterproof or quick-drying nylon collar, rather than a nice leather dog collar. I believe it is better to buy a high-quality dog collar that will last for years and forget about all these worries that I just mentioned.
And if you want a decorative or "fancy" necklace collar, know that it isn't intended for leash attachment, it's for a fashionable look only. If you are a rational buyer you will prefer a collar that will last, will be easy to clean and adjust as your dogs grows and matures. If the collar is too small you risk hurting your dog and if it is too large, the dog can slip out of it, creating a safety concern. Then make sure that measurement is within the adjustable range of the dog collar you choose. If your dog still has growing to do, understand you might need to buy multiple collars until she is full-grown.
You should be able to get a few fingers between the collar and your dog's neck comfortably. Dog necklaces or decorative collars make your dog look fabulous, but aren't functional for leashes. You never know what can happen, so as the Boy Scouts say, "always be prepared," with a backup.
