Bags to put all the essential finds in from the trip to the beach – shells, sea weed, bits of crabs!
Toddler Approved has some fun sand castle and cake posts to get your toddlers having some sandy fun at the beach. The Educators Spin On It kept to the same routine and took their normal Tot School to the beach with lots of ideas for educational activities that are a lot more fun when you take them outside.

This is something I have never thought of doing but looks a lot of fun – some coloured sandcastles on the beach from A little learning for 2.
Preserving the memories from your beach holidays is half the fun of going – Curly Birds has 2 ways (linked within the post) of preserving those childhood beach memories.
The Imagination Tree also has a wonderful beach small world play and some sand play dough as well. We bring eleven month old twins to the beach along with their friends…Best tip ever is a blow up baby pool. Tip # 2 is a huge baby fence, when you have lots of babies to watch it really helps to keep them together and you can have a big area for them to play. Many beaches this summer will be Lost Kidz safety zones -so make sure you have the Lost Kidz App downloaded on your phone in case your toddler goes astray! Welcome to Rainy Day Mum, I'm Cerys, a mum, a teacher, a marine biologist and now a writer. While we had to attend an evening screening, we usually try to take our kids to the earliest shows they have.
We absolutely love using snacks as bribes…er rewards for great behavior during a movie. You can also pack some snacks from home to have on hand in case they get board with their movie treats. These also work great to keep the chairs down so your kid doesn’t get sandwiched into the theater seat and lost in the old popcorn from the last movie!

Last weekend we decided to take a trip to the beach and had a blast….but not without some major preparations first!  Going to the beach as DINKs (double income no kids) is COMPLETELY different than going to the beach the first time with a toddler! Today I’m sharing how you can survive a trip to the beach with a toddler too- 12 tips for taking a toddler to the beach! I keep a pad and paper next to the bed and every time I think of something to add to the list I just add it right away. And don’t forget the sippy cup- and make sure your little one sips on it every few minutes—they can quickly become dehydrated and that’s really no fun! The ADA recommends that training cups with no-spill valves only be used temporarily, and recommend cups with spouts instead.
Tooth decay can be transmitted through saliva, and babies are especially susceptible given that their immune systems are so fragile and new. There are literally tons of kids books out there about good dental habits and visits to the dentist.
For the longest time, we’ve had friends and family tell us we were crazy for bringing our toddlers and babies there.
I shared my top 15 Tips for going to Disneyland back in 2012, and some of these tips will be repeated here, but this list is geared for those preparing to take young children to the park. As part of a fun, memory-filled  and non stressful trip to Disneyland, it’s important to plan ahead. One more thing to consider in choosing your day is that dependent on when you go will also determine what hotel costs are. NOTE: If you are not staying at one of the Disneyland Hotels and DO NOT have Extra Magic Hour, I suggest starting your day at the opposite park.
HAVE A PLAN – Now that you know the schedule and which park you will be attending first, have a plan of action for the day. Look at the Maps – (Disneyland Map can be found HERE, and California Adventure Map can be found HERE). Mickey & Friends can usually be found in Toon Town at their homes and wandering through out. FROZEN Characters  can be found in Fantasyland (more info HERE) – They are to the left of the Carousel just pass the Pinnochio ride. We also like to tie a bright ribbon to our stroller so it’s easier to find in the Stroller Parking. Small Toys – Having some inexpensive (and replaceable) but familiar items from home can be helpful. Contrary to belief, there are TONS of rides at Disney that the littles (even babies) can go on. Height Requirements – Know how tall your children are and also the height requirements for each ride.
FAST PASSES – A Fast Pass is a ticket that allows you to by-pass the regular line and stand in a much shorter and quicker line that usually allows you to get on a ride within minutes.

RIDER-SWAP PASSES – You are able to use this when one parent goes on the ride with a child and another parent is out waiting with the stroller (whether it’s with another child waiting to go on the ride, a child that is too small to ride the ride or a baby that is sleeping). And get weekly emails with monthly freebies by signing up for the Lil’ Luna newsletter. We took advantage of the magic morning early entry and raced to the Frozen site and were in to see them by 8:05 am (second family in that day).
My name is Kristyn and I’m the mom of FIVE stinkin’ cute kids and the wife to my smokin’ hot hubby, Lo. Our toddler, who was so excited going to beach practically ran to the water without getting changed into beach apparel.
We just love the beach, reading your list it does remind me how much easier beach trips become as they grow older and can be responsible for packing their own things for the day, though I am still in charge of lunch or it would just be crisps and cake! Come and join us as I share ideas for kids, family from those to support learning and bring books alive, to family travel in the UK and further afield as well as wholesome home cooked recipes and much more. If you would like more information or wish to discuss this further please email cerys [at] rainydaymum [dot] co [uk]. She had a great time and loved being part of the excitement of being one of the first to see Disney’s Planes in theaters. We have a few tricks up our sleeve and have been quite successful in taking the kids to the theaters. They get to experience the movies they love on the big screen and it’s a special treat for the whole family. We avoid evening movies with the kids most of the time because we don’t want them to be too tired. If your theater doesn’t allow outside food or beverages you can call ahead and see if small snacks for your child are ok.
These are found either just outside the theater entrance before you go in to sit down or you can ask an employee to find one for you. That way when potty breaks are needed or a child needs a few minutes of walking around the theater halls, you can do so easily without disrupting the other patrons. She loves to write about her family life in San Diego, the journey to healthy living, her family’s favorite recipes, going green, and crafting. I took my son to the movie theater for the very first time a few months ago but it was a movie he’d already seen 100 times.
Use your list (see #2) and stick to it- make sure you have everything ready to go at least 1 day before (trust me- you’re going to keep thinking of things you need)!
Serendipity and Spice earns a few cents on the dollar if readers purchase the items I recommend at no additional cost to you. Being persistent is a key in cleaning your toddlers tooth, but as time goes, as soon as they are willing and able, you can gradually give them more responsibility on their oral hygiene.
The hubby and I love going to the Happiest Place on Earth as a family to make memories and to spend time with one another.
Yes, it takes time, but planning ahead will actually give you MORE time at the parks and more time to enjoy your vacation. They may be more expensive but the amenities and proximity of these hotels are well worth the cost. Knowing when the parks open and when they will close will help you to plan your day and make the most of it. The line can often be 3-4 hours (no joke), and if your kids are adamant about seeing the Frozen characters going here first will make the wait time closer to 15 – 45 minutes. Having jackets and blankets can be helpful, especially if you went on ride and are wet and cold. We like that if kiddos get tired, they can sit or if they fall asleep you can push the seat back to a laying position so they can take a nap. Not only do small toys entertain, but they may help prevent the constant asking of toys and souvenirs from the stores. To obtain a fast pass you need to find the Fast Pass machines, (usually near the entrance of each ride) place your Disneyland ticket in it and a Fast Pass will come out telling you the time to return to that ride. The person who went on the ride first can ask a cast member for the Rider Switch Pass (at the entrance of the ride) which will allow the waiting parent to come to the front of the line to ride it again with the same child or another child  that was waiting to go on the ride.
I know there was a ton to read, but I promise all these tips and tricks can help you to have a more enjoyable time at Disneyland! From recipes and tips to crafts and DIY projects, Kristyn loves to share with her readers how to be creative and how to do things simply. Now they don’t go to every movie that comes out, they simply go with us to the movies they want to see or have expressed an interest in seeing. Sometimes that’s hard but by doing a little research (or picking up a book of the movie first) you can see if your child will relate well to the story and not get too upset.
The popcorn is enough to keep them busy for the whole movie (sometimes my husband and I get a Kids Pack instead even when we don’t have the kids!).
Wanna watch the sunset while enjoying an ice cream on the Boardwalk?  Don’t schedule in some nap time and you’ll be wishing it were bedtime!
Being in touch with your local health department or visiting a pediatric dentist will help your kids maintain a healthy gums and teeth till they grow up.

Not only do they have Character Breakfast Meet and Greets, but they also allow for EARLY ENTRANCE (Extra Magic Hour) and even an Exclusive Entrance for those staying at Disney’s Grand Californian (our personal favorite).
Friday through Monday are the most busy since it’s easier for most people to go through the weekend to the parks. For example, if you stay at a Disneyland hotel and it’s Tuesday, then extra Magic Hour is only for DISNEYLAND (and not California Adventure). If you know where you are and where you are going you can plan easier and make the most of your time. We were one of the first ones in the park (on an off-peak day) and went there first and the wait was still 30 minutes. Peter Pan, for example, is one of the most popular and is almost an hour wait just minutes after the park opens. I see many people with Double-wide Strollers, but they always seem to have a harder time maneuvering through the parks. Before we leave I always pack individual snack bags for each child for each day at the park. We usually do cave by the end of the trip and buy the kids a souvenir, but tell them they have to earn it.
If your kids are like mine, they’ll want some, but we like to stock up on some of the glow sticks (that can be made into bracelets and necklaces) and the other glow novelties from the Target Dollar Spot instead. Not only can you purchase items from here but you can warm up bottles, nurse in a private spot with rocking chairs, or even change dirty diapers. Add Small World, Nemo, Buzz Lightyear’s Astroblasters, Winnie the Pooh, and Pirates of the Carribean to the list too.
Knowing this information will help you to know beforehand which rides they can go on and can also prevent temper tantrums and disappointment.
This is SO helpful when you have multiple little ones who want to ride a ride and you have others that cannot. Rides such as Small World and Pirates of the Carribean are great to ride when you need a cool down at Disney. After having a few mamas ask for tips on taking a toddler to the movie theater I figured I’d share them right here on the Fabulous Mom Blog!
This sacred virtual space is about finding the light through the darkness and living a joyful life even through the sadness. If it’s not possible to stay at one of these hotels, I suggest finding one that is close enough that you can walk to and from the parks (be sure to check the ratings so you have a great hotel experience as well).
Long lines lead to whine-y kids and more stressful times, which is something we try to avoid. If you are attending the park on Tuesday and do not have this Extra Magic Hour start your day off at California Adventure. NOTE: This is also where kids are sent if they are accidentally separated from their parents so knowing where this is located is important. The one thing to remember is that you cannot get another Fast Pass until the TIME LISTED at the bottom of your ticket. Living in Arizona, we went at least once a year and usually ended up going at the end of November as an early Christmas present. If you know you’ll be attending the park at a busier time make sure you tell your children that there will be lines. We made this mistake when we kept telling our daughter how fun she would have on the Nemo ride, only to find out it was closed when we got there.
It will be less busy and will allow you to get on more rides before the Disney Hotel residents hop over to the park. As mentioned before, lines can get long and having some treats on hand can be pretty helpful. If you look at the image above it states that another Fast Pass will be available after 12:40. The kids knew that if we went to Disney, they’d only get a present or two from Santa, but they were fine with that. Also note that if you go at a busier time you’re less likely to hit all the rides and shows the parks have to offer.
If your kids are still awake night time is also a good time to hit up those nostalgic rides in Fantasyland.
Using these Fast Passes on rides such as Splash Mountain, Space Mountain and Indiana Jones at Disneyland as well as Screamin’ California and Radiator Springs Racers at California Adventure are ESSENTIAL! Now that we live in Texas, it’s not as easy to hop in the car for 5 hours and be there, but we did decide to make a last-minute trip this past March and were so glad we were able to squeeze in some Magical Moments with our family in California. If you want to attend one of these events you want to plan your day with those times in mind and make sure you arrive early at the designated areas so that you can get in.
Who wants to wait in line for 4 hours when they could’ve gotten a Fast Pass and waited in line for 10 minutes? If you really want to maximize all that you can do at the park these Fast Passes play a huge role and can help with that.
