The Muppets will be making their debut at the Magic Kingdom Park this fall in Liberty Square. Disney’s newest princess, Princess Elena of Avalor, will be making her debut at Disney World with a very limited time show, “The Royal Welcome of Princess Elena of Avalor.” On August 11th, Magic Kigndom will welcome Elena, crown princess of Avalor, in a special ceremony for Elena of Avalor that will be presented several times daily at the park. Earlier this year, Disney announced plans to build a new sports venue at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The new indoor sports venue, which will be adjacent to the Jostens Center, will feature a flexible design that can morph from one large competition space capable of seating more than 8,000 fans to as many as four separate competition areas.
It will be the only venue of its size in America that is specifically designed with cheerleading and dance competitions in mind, offering special warm up and practice areas as well as spaces for judges and officials.
The facility, expected to be complete within the next 18 months, will perfectly complement the growing number of prestigious cheerleading and dance events at Disney. Star Wars fans now have the opportunity to purchase an all new Star Wars Rebels Interactive Adventure through Disney Floral & Gifts.

Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza is the newest “fast-casual” restaurant located in the Town Center neighborhood of Disney Springs.
Blaze Pizza was designed as part of the Disney Springs architecture to resemble an 1850s-era sawmill that’s been contemporized, and uses single-species wood in the open kitchen and ordering area, including lumber milled from a Cypress log felled more than 200 years ago and reclaimed from Florida’s Apalachicola River. Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar at Disney Springs, Jungle Skipper Canteen at Magic Kingdom, and Tiffins and Nomad Lounge at Animal Kingdom have been added. Annual passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, Disney Visa Cardmembers, and guests staying at a Disney World Resort Hotel will receive a 10% discount on reservation for guests ages 3-12 from August 7-September 5, 2016. You must present a valid Tables in Wonderland Card with valid photo ID to receive the discount. It will be so flexible that it can be configured to host a variety of other sports, such as basketball and volleyball, as well as concerts.

Currently, the sports complex plays host to nine cheerleading and dance competitions, such as the National High School Cheerleading Championships in February. Through an augmented reality app on your smartphone, Ezra Bridger leads you on a mission to thwart the Empire. Also, never ones to rest on their laurels, Disney has announced some new shows and attractions. Princess Elena arrives accompanied by a troupe of regal banner carriers and musicians and when asked to share her historia, Elena picks up a guitarra and joins her musicians in a performance of the song “My Time,” recounting her magical adventures and triumphant return to Avalor.

There is also an all-new menu crafted by Chef Tim Majoras, a veteran of the Flying Fish kitchen. This move appears to be permanent, however, we may see breakfast returning during seasonally busy times. By scanning targets or “wayfinders” featured around your resort room and Star Tours, Ezra leads you to hidden information and gear needed to complete your mission. Like the one seen in the film Star Wars: A New Hope, the medal’s design features a lanyard, which can be personalized, to identify your victory. The seafood-centric menu features entirely sustainable fish and shellfish, and includes Chef Majoras’ creations such as corn-crusted wild Gulf shrimp, wild Alaskan king salmon and plancha-seared Hokkaido scallops. The rebel tech on your phone allows you to experience the adventure again and again, even after returning home from the Disney Parks! Whereas the Grand Floridian has a large, opulent looking lobby, the lobby of Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is significantly smaller. We are Tables in Wonderland card holders and it has saved us a lot of money over the years! Appointments can be made up to 180 days in advance by calling (407) WDW-STYLE (407-939-7895).
The lobby was still quite nice, with a high ceiling, nice chandeliers, and beautiful Christmas tree, and I enjoyed a couple of late evenings relaxing in it.
She can primarily be found exploring the Walt Disney World Parks, Walt Disney World Resorts, and Disney Springs.
General manager and sommelier Stig Jacobsen has crafted a new wine list with nearly 80 selections by the glass. These large lobbies seem to be a fixture of only the Walt Disney World resort hotels, as I can’t think of any Disney hotels outside of Walt Disney World (and the Grand Californian) that have them.

When she is not at Walt Disney World she enjoys spending time researching and planning her next cruise on the Disney Cruise LIne or a visit to Disney Land. To the contrary, while the Grand Floridian is superficially classy, upon closer inspection, many of the details are woefully dated, and the whole place feels like Victorian high-class style as envisioned by the editors of Country Living Magazine in the early 1990s. They still can’t believe how lucky they are to have such an amazing opportunity and will continue to share Disney with anyone who will listen!
Everything from the carpet to the light fixtures to the art on the walls is tasteful and classy.
Perhaps what was most impressive to me was the amount of beauty in places it wouldn’t be expected.
For example, this gorgeous staircase below was at the end of some side hallway that you wouldn’t find unless you were deliberately looking for it. Lantau Island does not have much in the way of hotels, and the non-Disney hotels that are there don’t all offer easy access to the park. As a result, our options were essentially to stay in Hong Kong and take the MTR to Hong Kong Disneyland, or to stay at one of the two Disney hotels near the park. Regardless of where we stayed, we would have had at least one transfer, as nothing else is on the Disneyland Resort Line of the MTR. Although there were some deals to be found, the nice hotels we found in Hong Kong central were all above $150.
Pricey, but still nowhere what you’d pay for the Grand Floridian, and the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is arguably nicer. Given that and our general preference to stay on-site, Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel was the obvious choice for us.It made sense considering our limited time in Hong Kong Disneyland and the proximity of the hotel to the park. It is approximately a 10 minute walk from Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel to the park, or about a 15 minute walk from the hotel to the train station. As an additional plus, the hotel is about a $20 (US) cab ride to Hong Kong International Airport. This seemed popular among guests, and even when I came out in the early morning hours there were people in it.
All that the scene needed was some parasols and croquet and it would have seemed like a scene out of 19th century Britain rather than 21st century Hong Kong. Our room overlooked the main outdoor pool, but we were much more impressed by the beautiful indoor pool. The ceiling and tilework here were beautiful, and although we never swam in it, it looked like a very nice pool.
Walt’s, Enchanted Garden, and Crystal Lotus were the main locations, with a small lounge also in the hotel. To our dismay, there were no counter or quick service options in the hotel, so grab and go breakfast wasn’t possible. If that’s the case, then the rooms here are certainly a good compromise between luxury and themed accommodations for families. Personally, I think Disney would be well served recruiting someone in charge of room design for Hyatt, Hilton, or a boutique luxury brand to help them work at better striking this balance.Overall, these complaints about the room at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel are a minor qualm, and are more directed at Disney hotels in general, and less at this specific hotel. The grounds are beautiful, the amenities are nice, and the hotel executes the Victorian theme wonderfully. The upkeep and the Cast Members at the hotel are also great, surpassing most US Disney hotels in both regards.
Chambers April 8, 2014 I was there in June 2011, stayed at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and I got a up grade to a Kingdom Club Room on the 7th floor! My last time at a Disney park before that was at Walt Disney World in 1983 and first time there was 1972 and I stayed at the Polynesian Village. I enjoyed hkdl park very much and I found the size of it was just right, it had a lot of heart and soul!! Living in Germany I am trying to get my wife to go with me to Disneyland Paris for a long weekend, lets see! Reply SirEdge January 30, 2014 Oh and one more thing, I was surprised to read that you said that the HKDL does some things better than the Grand Floridian.I had assumed that HKDL does things a little off compared to the US parks.Oh well! Reply SirEdge January 30, 2014 Fantastic update as usual Tom!When I was a kid, it was always my dream to stay on-property at Disney during one of our family trips to the US. Reply Tom Bricker February 4, 2014 I agree about the Cast Members being great at HKDL Hotel.
