Light effects are my favorite type of effect, I don't know why but I always liked to play around in Photoshop trying to recreate them. So in this tutorial I will show you how to create a super cool text light effect mixing some photos to give more realism.
Open Photoshop and create a new document, after that make sure that the background is in black. Now let's delete the filament area where we will add the text with the light effect later on.
Because the white text is inside the folder with the Color Dodge, the effect will be the same as if the text layer had a black background. Again to add more realism, instead of creating a lens flare in Photoshop we will use a real photo. Once you imported the photo the first thing to do is delete the areas that you won't be necessary and keep just the flare. Now add another layer on top of all the others and then with the Brush Tool (B) and a big and very soft brush using white for the color, paint another big spot in the center of the light effect. After this we are done and as you could see, most of the light effects are all about blending colors with photos. Following our series of tutorials inspired by movie posters, today we bring to you a simple image inspired by the new Jim Carrey and Steve Carrell's movie, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. So for this tutorial we will show you how to create a nice old signage effect using Photoshop and a stock photo.
I used a rendered C4d.  There are packs of C4D renders all over the internet, deviantART is a great place to start. Next, we can add awesome lighting effects to dramatically increase the visual impact of the piece.  First create a new layer (CTRL-SHIFT-N) .

This is the sort of thing that would probably get you fired if you were supposed to be doing serious photo editing and retouching work, but I've seen this photo effect used time and time again in advertising, and while the final result looks rather harsh, Photoshop makes creating the effect quick and painless, as we'll see! With our photo newly opened in Photoshop, let's begin the way we normally do with our photo effects tutorials, and that's by duplicating the Background layer so we'll be free to do whatever we like to our image without harming the original pixel information. I mentioned at the beginning that part of this effect will be created using a technique normally used for advanced image sharpening, and this is it.
This brings up the High Pass filter dialog box, and you'll see your photo in the document window become filled with gray. For this effect though, we don't want to limit our sharpening to just the edges of objects. Drag the Radius slider to the right until you can clearly see your photo behind the solid gray color. The Hard Light blend mode also boosts image contrast but to an even greater degree than Overlay does. If we look at our image after duplicating the layer, we can see that the contrast has definitely been increased.
If, after duplicating the layer a second time, you find that the contrast is too intense even for this effect, simply lower the opacity of the new layer to tone things down a little.

Then once I discovered the power of the Blend Modes, especially the Color Dodge, creating this effects became much easier. Place the image in the center of the document but make sure that the filament area is big engouh.
Then with the Brush Tool (B) select a very soft brush (0% hardness0 and black for the color. To do that is pretty easy, with the Eyedropper Tool (I) select the color of the area you will paint, the with the Brush Tool (B) and a very soft brush, start paiting over the filament. You can see that the edges get sort of blended with the background creating a perfect light effect.
Screen is a very useful Blend Mode because it turns what is black into full trasparency the grey scale becomes a transparency level, so it's perfect to create light effects.
The Blend Modes in Photoshop are very powerful for this type of effect and I would recommend you to study more about them, especially the Color Dodge one. But can you please please please do a photshop for me =[, i am epicly crap with photoshop and i really need YOUR help!? This photo effect is primarily devised for women, but I thing mans also can get cool result.
Add a new layer below the model layer and choose a mediun airbrush with 100px (press B) make a horizontal line as shown and paint below models feets. Choose the polygonal lasso tool (press L) use the polygonal lasso tool to create this triangle shape like the image, then (press G) for gradient tool and radial to mode, choose white color and drag from the bottom to up to fill.
If your image is over sharpened choose Smudge tool (press R), normal to mode and 10% to strength and drag on the body in the same direction of the image. If you want to learn more about how to use the High Pass filter for image sharpening, be sure to check out our Sharpen Images With The High Pass Filter tutorial in our Photo Editing section, but just to quickly summarize, if you look down at the bottom of the dialog box, you'll see the Radius option. Normally, if we were doing serious photo editing work, we'd be changing the blend mode to Overlay, which is one of the blend modes in Photoshop that boosts contrast in an image.
We can do that simply by duplicating our layer, just like we did when we duplicated the Background layer a moment ago. Certain areas of the photo, especially skin tones, are starting to look rather harsh and gritty, and we're seeing halo effects around some objects thanks to the high Radius value we set with the High Pass filter. You'll find the Opacity option at the top of the Layers palette directly across from the blend mode option.
Change the blend mode of the layer to "Hard Light" and select the "Fill with Hard-Light-neutral color (50% gray)" option at the bottom. To give the color in the image more of a muted, washed-out appearance, simply click on the Saturation slider in the middle of the dialog box and drag it towards the left.
After that with the Brush Tool (B) and a very soft brush with #f5d38b paint a round spot in the center of the light effect. In this photoshop tutorial we will use some layers styles, photoshop basic tools and we will works with lights, a lot.

Select pen tool (press P), now make some curve lines around model legs, when you finish the path choose a hard round standard brush with 1px. When you finish your path right click in your mouse and choose make selection in the dialog box then hit ok. Then deselect and repeat the same process with other triangles shapes with different colors. I’ve tried to collect a few Photoshop effects images .This picture collections absolutely blow your mind.
If we were using the High Pass filter to apply a normal amount of sharpening to our image, we'd want to keep the Radius value very low, usually somewhere between 1-2 pixels.
First, set the Distribution option at the bottom of the dialog box to Gaussian, then check the Monochromatic option at the very bottom so that our noise appears as black and white dots instead of as little red, green and blue dots.
Another tip is if you are using the Brush Tool (B) you can just press Alt to use the Eyedropper Tool. After that add a new folder in the Layers Palette and change the Blend Mode of this folder to Color Dodge.
Still in the clouds layer choose a small air brush with 15px and paint in some areas with different sizes.
Here is a look at some of the best collections for using various talents with abstract effects. At this low setting, only the edges of objects in the photo become visible, while the rest of the photo remains solid gray. How high you set your Radius value will depend on the size of the image you're working on, but generally speaking, somewhere between 30-35 pixels seems to work well. Either method will duplicate "Layer 1", and if we look in our Layers palette, we can see that we now have a new layer named "Layer 1 copy" sitting above "Layer 1". We also need to set the blend mode of the new layer to Hard Light and we need to fill the layer with the same solid gray color we saw when we were working with the High Pass filter. This isn't absolutely necessary but since I'm getting a bit of a headache seeing layer names like "Layer 1 copy 2", I'm going to name this new layer "Noise".
Dragging the slider all the way to the left would completely remove the color, giving you a black and white photo. Now click with the right mouse button and select stroke path with simulate pressure active and hit ok, then (press E) for erase tool and erase some areas.
With our rectangle ready, choose the brush tool and with a soft airbrush 400px (white color) paint inside the rectangle, follow the example of figure.
We will repeat this process until create a bright star and then we put all these layers together with the command Ctrl + E.
This allows us to sharpen only the edges of objects, leaving the rest of the photo unsharpened, which usually gives us great results.
If you're working on a small image for the web, you'll need to use a much lower setting, possibly around 9-10 pixels.
In our case, we just want to add a little noise, so I'm going to set my amount to around 4%.
The idea is to keep an eye on your image in the document window and drag the Radius slider to the right until there's very little of the solid gray color remaining and you can clearly see your photo underneath it. As soon as you select Hard Light, you'll see a new option become available directly below it, called Fill with Hard-Light-neutral color (50% gray).
