Nikon has had an incredibly busy time of late when it comes to releasing new camera models, with an updated variant of an existing DSLR being unveiled what feels like every few months. With the new EXPEED 4 processor, as found in the Nikon D4S, there comes an increased buffer and continuous burst speed, up from five to six frames-per- second. The 24.2-megapixel sensor is the same well-regarded Sony APS-C unit as found in the D5300 and new D5500 (tested last issue) and it really is a corker. To the left of the generous 3.2in LCD screen sit buttons that, when used in conjunction with the dual control wheels, allow for fast adjustment of White Balance, image quality and ISO. Around the front of the camera, the AF selection button is where you’d expect to find it on pro-level Nikons, and makes for quick adjustments without taking your eye away from the viewfinder. Also20.2-megapixels,the EOS 70D is a couple of years old, so can be bought for around $1000, body only.
There is but a few hundred pounds filling the gap between Nikon’s APS-C and full-frame models at present. Sorry, either someone took all the comments and ran away or no one left any in the first place ! The D3200 employs Guide Mode that enables you to take pictures and movies the way you want, even if you are a first-time user of a D-SLR. Optical viewfinder shooting is convenient in high-speed continuous shooting or when tracking a moving subject. The D3200's shutter unit is tested for 100,000 cycles with the shutter actually loaded to prove its high durability.
The D3200 detects the subject using information from all 11 focus points and automatically focuses on it.
Live view shooting using an LCD monitor feels more like shooting with a compact digital camera.
Convenient for shooting a moving subject which is usually difficult to focus on, such as a child or pet.
Convenient for shooting with pin-point focus for a designated position such as for a close-up of a flower.
During live view shooting with the mode dial set to Auto or Auto (flash off), Scene Auto Selector* automatically activates the most suitable scene mode according to the shooting scene or subject. Nikon D3200 – Learn Photography Everything a budding photographer should learn to make the basics right.
Why do so many casual and amateur photographers shy away from taking pictures once the sun goes down? Night photography gives you a chance to have the type of shots that are out of the ordinary and not the same type pictures everyone else has. A few of the more popular night photography subjects are city skylines, well lit downtown areas, moonlit scenes, and tourist attraction areas. If you are using a digital SLR camera, you will be able to manually change the camera aperture or shutter speed. Your source for compelling interviews from the world's most famous photographers and insights into inspirational photography. Its flagship APS-C D7000 range is next up for a revamp, and the bar is already set pretty high. Nikon are claiming that the buffer can handle up to an impressive 27 Raw files, or 100 JPEGs, before things start to slow down. There’s also a Bracket button that lets you shoot up to nine exposures at up to three-stop intervals.
This means that tech-savvy photographers can not only download images straight to their mobiles and tablets at the press of a button, but those with compatible NFC devices can simply touch them to the D7200 to initiate the transfers. The autofocus system is the star of the show, reacting quickly and accurately, working surprisingly well even when presented with fast-moving, low-contrast objects and in tricky lighting – down to -3EV Nikon claims. Raw files are detailed and crisp with great shadow detail and good colour, while the in-camera JPEG processing is sensitive to colour and contrast. Inspired by its professional siblings, the 51-point AF system shines and image quality is impressive. The D7200’s AF system is more advanced, as the EOS 70D only packs 19 AF points, but it does offer 7fps shooting and Wi-Fi.
The original D600 was plagued with sensor dirt problems, all of which have been resolved in the D610.

A cross-type sensor covers the most frequently used center area to deliver superior subject-acquisition and focusing performance. You can focus on the subject selecting one of the 11 focus points according to your composition. This mode is recommended for shooting when you want to capture decisive moments reliably such as for snapshots. In AF-A or AF-C mode, once focusing is achieved with the selected focus point, the focus point automatically changes to track the subject even if it moves or composition is changed while the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. This is convenient when it is difficult to use the viewfinder to take high-angle or low-angle shots, or when you want to determine composition using approx. Suitable for a subject for which autofocus is difficult, such as an animal in a cage or a person in the shade with the sun in the background.
The camera automatically selects the most appropriate setting, ensuring beautiful pictures. The icon of the selected mode such as Landscape and Portrait is displayed at the top left of the monitor. This assistance makes it easy for even first-time D-SLR users to operate the D3200 while learning functions. However, any scene in your own neighborhood or town that has some sort of light in it is fair game for night photography. A Digital Single Lens Reflex camera (also known as a DSLR or Digital SLR camera) is the best choice for night photography. Most digital compact cameras will have some sort of night mode setting such as night landscape.
When taking pictures at night the cameras’ shutter can be open for seconds instead of fractions of a second. If you are using a compact digital camera, try using the exposure compensation EV+ or EV- feature. Bracketing your exposures means to take several shots of the same scene at different exposure settings. It might be a little challenging in the beginning but it will be a fun and exciting challenge. We took some pictures at night and got some great results, which we also show in the tutorial.
First launched in 2010, the original D7000 was incredibly popular and was in high demand with enthusiasts.
Many of these features can also be found in the outgoing D7100, but there are some notable improvements. When tested, I found these numbers to be almost spot on (12-bit Raw files and Normal quality JPEGs, respectively), although if you bump the Raw files up to 14-bit and JPEG quality up to Fine those numbers approximately halve. The D7200’s ergonomics are more befitting of a bigger, more expensive model – the chunky grip feels comfortable in hand, and the front and rear control wheels (for changing aperture and shutter speed, respectively) are well positioned, allowing you to make quick adjustments on the fly. The burst rate and more-than-generous buffer lets you rattle off fast successions of images, putting you in good stead to capture fleeting moments. White Balance readings remained consistent throughout my time with the D7200, handling everything from studio portraits to landscape sunsets without a hiccup.
Wi-Fi and NFC are welcome additions, and the clear 100% coverage viewfinder and bright LCD are a joy.
This is a true sports and action DSLR, with blistering 10fps shooting and an advanced 65-point AF system, as well as Full HD 60fps video. With Scene Recognition System, the D3200 shows enhanced subject identification and composition change detection.
The Quiet shutter release mode is convenient when you want to shoot with reduced shutter-release sound for occasions such as a school play or when taking pictures of wildlife, insects, or a sleeping child. This mode is convenient when you want to focus on a desired point when shooting flowers or portraits.
In AF-A or AF-C mode, if the subject briefly leaves the selected focus point, the camera will focus based on information from the surrounding points. Maybe they think those type pictures can only be made by professional photographers with thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Sure its dark, but there is still a little ambient light remaining from the sunset in the air.

That is because when using a Digital SLR camera you will have more control over the cameras’ exposure settings. A night mode setting will keep the cameras’ shutter open for longer periods of time so that the cameras’ image sensor can absorb more light. Just like daytime photography, the exposure settings for night photography will depend on the amount of available light in a scene. Take one or two that will be darker and one or two that will be lighter than the recommended exposure setting.
Once you know a little about camera exposure basics and the operation of your camera, you are well on your way to getting that great night shot.
We also talk about settings and techiques of this creative kind of night photography. The best things is that you don’t need the best camera or lens to get some stunning images! Its successor, the D7100, followed late in 2013, bringing a raft of improvements and earning Nikon loyal DX-format shooters in the process. There’s also a top plate LCD screen for quick assessment of all of the essential settings and parameters. Sadly, the features on offer are rather limited, only allowing for AF point selection and shutter release as opposed to full exposure control.
Noise is well controlled, even at high ISO, with files perfectly usable at ISO 1600 and higher! The D610 can be had for around [SHOW PRICE] now, but set some extra aside for FX-format lenses. In Auto-area AF mode, the D3200 achieves focus at the appropriate focus point by detecting background, foreground and subject. It can be artificial light, moonlight, or ambient light from the atmosphere just after sunset.
This is important because you might be able to record a little more detail in the shadow areas of the scene at this time of evening.
Taking pictures at night will require longer exposure times and a Digital SLR camera has more options for changing the exposure settings. The main problem with using a digital compact camera for night photography is that you won’t be able to choose the exposure setting for your night shots.
You will then have more images to choose from when deciding which exposure setting was the best. Announced in March, the new D7200 is more evolution than revolution, but with the specification of the D7100 already impressive, are the changes enough to tempt users into the new model rather than bag a bargain with the outgoing?
The left shoulder plays host to the drive and exposure mode dials, both of which feature a lock switch to prevent accidentally knocking and changing them.
The former I can live without but the latter does come in use when shooting from high or low angles, or snapping selfies – that was a joke of course, and not something that I condone!
The D7200 offers Hi1 and Hi2 expanded ISO (equivalent ISO 102400), but these are only available in Monochrome JPEG mode, so are a last resort really.
In 3D-tracking (11 points) mode*, the focus point automatically changes to track the subject even if it moves or composition is changed while the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. As it gets later in the evening, many of the shadow areas will appear very dark or black with no detail unless there is some sort of artificial light around that area.
In spite of that, your cameras’ automatic night mode setting may still be able to produce some good night images at times. Also, the camera employs superimposed indicators for bright and easy-to-see viewfinder information.
The reason for that is because there may be some camera shake when your finger presses the shutter release even when the camera is on a tripod.
For close-up shooting of flowers and other small subjects using a tripod, you can magnify images up to approx.
