Besides the technical challenge of getting sharp pictures at such close range, there’s the fact that many bugs and insects have an annoying habit of flying away when you get up close. But don’t let that deter you for trying close up photography yourself – equip yourself with the right digital camera equipment, show a bit of perseverance and the results will soon begin to speak for themselves.
They enable you to focus in one continuous movement from infinity down to 1:1 scale lifesize. All the major manufacturers, and independents such as Tamron and Sigma, produce their own macro lenses. We often consider a photograph effective when it elicits an emotional response from the viewer. Perhaps we feel so strongly because the photograph is proof that material things are impermanent and no matter how sturdy they look, they can be broken and ravaged by time. Look for subjects that can trigger memories and has context –many objects which can have a special meaning to us are also universally known, such as a bed, a chair, a toy, or a tricycle. Be adventurous when looking for subjects – with urban decay photography, you may hunt for subjects in remote places. Be prepared before entering abandoned sites – aside from your camera and equipment such as a tripod, extra batteries, and reflector, also bring a flashlight, gloves (in case you have to move rusty, sharp things to the side), a dust mask, and a stick to poke at suspicious looking mounds that might hide snakes, rats, and spiders.
Look for elements that can improve your composition – use shapes, lines, colors, and patterns found in the surroundings and highlight them in your shot.
Be alert and careful – be always watch your step when roaming around abandoned places because floorboards may be weak and rotten or there might be holes beneath mounds of leaves and undergrowth.

Take advantage of natural lighting – sunlight streaming in from windows, doors, and holes in the ceiling and walls, is fantastic for illuminating interiors.
Shoot from a variety of angles and distances – you can practice urban decay photography by shooting entire interiors of rooms, hallways, gardens (a wide-angle lens would be ideal to get as much of the scene in the image frame).

A dual LED on the rear of the device can evenly light a small group of people in low light while avoiding the rabbit-in-the-headlights look if your subject is too close to the camera. LG has harnessed the brightness of the screen when using the front-facing camera to provide ambient light, by shrinking and centring the picture inside a warm white frame.
Last year, the LG G2 was arguably the best camera on a smartphone, until its rivals fought back. It provides fast focusing in ambient light, in 0.276secs, and much better focusing in low light. The G2’s camera performed well, but it would have been good to see more significant advances. The G3, with improved focusing, processing and OIS+, is a good response from LG and can produce stunning images as good as those of many similarly priced compact cameras. Colours are a tad oversaturated and low-light images suffer harsh noise reduction, although on the whole are rich and well exposed. I have, on occasion, used photos from other photographers as inspiration and for ideas to write additional articles. Urban decay photography is the photographing of man-made structures and objects that have fallen into disrepair or have been abandoned. It may also be that images of abandoned places can look creepy and we are drawn to the mystery of its history.
Objects like these that have grown old or have been abandoned can strike a chord in us when we see them in a photograph. Abandoned buildings may not be so accessible, and you may need a permit to enter these sites.
The user interface has been cleaned up and images look glorious on the G3’s screen, but you can’t adjust settings – fortunately, exposures are usually good. However, its camera options offer no manual control over ISO, shutter speed, aperture and the like.

The fascination for the old, the rusted, the abandoned, and the broken has caused many a photographer to venture off the beaten path to capture urban decay in an image. The G3 also has a 2.1- million-pixel, front-facing camera with responsive gesture triggering, and a flash feature gives extra light, which is handy for self-portraits.
