One must make sure that the light is appropriate to make your subject appear clearly without any shadows or glare. You can also use it when your subject is backlit to punch light onto their face - otherwise they will be silhouetted. You can ask your subject to wear different clothes, or do something a little crazy - your only limit is your imagination.
