The iPhone 5 has been out for a few months now and so I thought I would take the time to make a series of videos showing some Tips that can help you get the most out of your iPhone 5. User Centric tested iPhone’s keypad with 20 frequent texters to see how speedily they could adapt to the iPhone’s touch keyboard. Initially it was found that QWERTY users took double the time to type the same message on iPhone than the time they would take to create a message on their QWERTY phones. Jen Allen, Usability Specialist, User Centric stated, “For QWERTY users, texting was fast and accurate.
That means they had to press individual number keys multiple times to type a desired letter or character. These participants took the same amount of time to create a message on iPhone as well as on their own handset.
Also, all participants frequently made mistakes while typing on the iPhone, they typed a character that they did not intent to write.

Is it a matter of habit to use a particular phone or is it that iPhone’s touchscreen keypad is really slower than other handsets? Flawed survey: It takes a couple of days to learn to use the virtual keyboard comfortably just as it took Blackberry users some time to learn to use that format. Use statistics to write what you will, but it does not change the fact that the iPhone is a game changer.
That’s because the iPhone keyboard is optimized to type in ENGLISH, not teen-speak acronyms. Out of 20, 10 members owned phones with a full QWERTY keypad and the other 10 members owned phones having numeric keyboard.
Each of them typed six fixed-length text messages on their own phone and six on the iPhone. However there was improvement over time, but participants could not yet type as fast on the iPhone as they could type on QWERTY phones.

The real question is will they publish the fact that after a few weeks or so iphone useres will be faster than on their old phones. Every person I have heard talk about it who actually sends messages in English have said that they are TWICE as fast as with any Treo or Blackberry they had before. After learning to use the iPhone myself I can echo the sentiment of a huge majority (~90%) of its users that this is wonderful device.
