However, one thing all compact cameras suffer from—and a big advantage of DSLR cameras—is the latency of those little point-and-shooters, the time from the moment you press the trigger until the actual picture is taken. Within the segment of regular compact cameras, the Lumix GF1 kit stands out with a price tag of an average US$1000 in Europe and around US$850 in the US.

I was searching for G11 portrait photos when I stumbled over this article, and I must say I am surprised of the little knowledge regarding camera the author has. Coming from a consumer perspective, what happened was this: you only had choices between heavy and big DSLR cameras or these new models, to get similarly good image results like with the GF1. Winter, spring, summer, and fall: each season provides us with unique photo opportunities and challenges. You don’t need a professional DSLR camera to capture great autumn photos – even a budget-friendly point-and-shoot camera will suffice if you educate yourself on lighting and composition techniques like the ones below. Tripod: especially important when using your camera’s zoom or when capturing close-up shots of autumn-themed subjects like leaves and mushrooms.
Towel: if you’re going to follow my “get down and dirty” tip below, it’s a good idea to pack along a small towel to protect your clothes from getting wet and dirty or, at the very least, protect your camera from ground dirt and dampness. Rain cover: depending on the severity of the weather, you should consider packing along some kind of rain cover for your camera, be it a standard umbrella or an advanced rain cover like the thinkTANK Hydrophobia 70-200. Autumn presents us with beautiful colours that contribute towards stunning photos (and stunning prints, I might add!). So, some photo opportunities could include crisp red leaves against lush green grass or a bright orange pumpkin patch with a clear blue sky as a backdrop. If your surroundings don’t offer up a lot of options in the contrast department, you can also help your autumn-themed subjects stand out by using photo editing software to perform a post-processing technique called selective colouring.
In addition to colour contrast, try to include contrasting textures in your photos for added interest.
If you really want to master autumn photography, you shouldn’t be afraid to get down on the ground in order to capture that must-have shot. Nature is best left undisturbed and I’m not suggesting you should destroy the flora and fauna to pack it home with you (I don’t think that squirrel would be very impressed if you tried!). To help inspire you, I’ll leave you with some great autumn-themed stock photos I found at fotolia.
The incident rate in the particularly urine-y elevator where the first system was installed has dropped to one — and that offender was arrested mid-stream.
Cheaper solution - Connect to floor of the elevator to a holding tank underneath that empties every time the lift goes to the bottom floor.
Former Twitter CEO Dick Costolo secretly ordered employees to create an algorithm to filter out abusive and hateful language during a company-sponsored Q&A with President Obama in 2015 according to a Buzzfeed report.

Eight people who have spent years paralysed from spinal cord injuries have regained partial sensation and muscle control in their lower limbs after training with brain-controlled robotics, including a virtual reality system. Over 12 months the patients used a brain-controlled exoskeleton, virtual-reality environments and training on non-invasive brain controlled virtual avatar bodies, with all showing improvement -- and one woman able to move her legs voluntarily for the first time in 13 years. It has a 921,000-dot Vari-angle display that lets you shoot from just about any position—hold the camera overhead for a view above a crowd, at ground level for an interesting close-up of a flower, or just enjoy easier video recording and self portraits.
Its highly sensitive 24.1-megapixel DX-format CMOS image sensor captures your vision with lifelike brilliance—marvel at the vibrant colors and razor-sharp detail, even in low light. D-Movie mode now features Full HD 1080p 60i for visibly smoother sequences, a first for Nikon HD-SLRs.
Find exciting new perspectives with an ultra-high resolution Vari-angle display that swivels to nearly any position. The quality of their image processing engine competes with those of a Nikon P6000 or Canon G11. If you carry a compact camera for that reason, to point and shoot, you’ll soon feel frustrated over this latency effect. Not only are they bigger (hence, offering a better image quality), they are also swappable, so depending on your motive, you can use a long lens, a regular view angle lens, or a wide angle lens.
It works best for portraits and close ups, due to the shallow depth of focus, an image style often desired by professional photographers. Light sensitivity ranges from 100 to 3200 ISO, but noise is fairly well processed by the image engine. Prior to that, the only other camera class that existed in the digital image market were compact cameras. Here are some autumn photography tips to help you capture the most from the season of changing colours.
In relation to autumn photography, a polarizing filter can help accentuate all the vibrant fall colours. However, being outdoors doesn’t automatically give you the greatest lighting conditions for your photo shoot.
Some of the most incredible autumn photos have not only vibrant colours in them, they also include contrasting colours, i.e. Shooting from different angles can produce some fantastic images that are unique and extremely interesting.
With that said, if you’re struggling to capture a decent photo due to your environment – be it poor lighting, a shoddy background, or uncooperative weather (and not just rain; wind can make it next to impossible to photograph a macro shot of a leaf or other small subject) – there’s no harm in bringing a leaf or two home with you to photograph under a controlled environment. With a row of 10 floor-height splash detectors along both side walls, there’s no way to relieve yourself without alerting the police.
I'm in a wheelchair and I ride the elevator at FivePoints and it always has a fresh puddle in pee waiting for me every day. For shots that have both very dark and very bright areas, D5200 includes built-in HDR (high-dynamic range).
Legendary NIKKOR lenses, marvels of clarity and quality, are the perfect companion for the D5200, drawing peak performance out of the sensor. Just add the optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter and instantly transfer your shots to a smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi. Full-time-servo AF (AF-F) and subject-tracking AF work together to keep moving subjects sharp and in focus, and face-priority AF instantly detects and tracks up to 35 faces in a scene.

Capture your vision in lifelike brilliance with an exceptional 24.1 MP DX-format CMOS sensor, then share it instantly with the optional WU-1a Wireless Adapter. Compact cameras offer zoom functionality, but some of these are digital zoom, usually resulting in poor quality.
But compared to heavier DSLR models from competitors like Nikon and Canon, the GF1 comes close to an ideal choice photographers have been waiting for. Canon G11 and Nikon P6000 are only (If I take into consideration the date of this article) comparable to the Panasonic LX3. Check out Digital Photography School’s article – How to Use and Buy Polarizing Filters – to learn more and to discover an alternative option for those who own a point-and-shoot camera. In order for you to get the best possible images, it’s important to shoot at the right time of day: an hour or two just after the sun rises or before it sets.
The underside of mushrooms, for example, have some great textures and shooting from ground-level will generate an entirely different feel than if you were to shoot the same subject from a standing position. If you take this route, be sure to place the subject near a window to take advantage of natural lighting. Our intelligent Scene Recognition System compares your shot against an onboard database for optimum exposure, and EXPEED 3, the processing power in our acclaimed D4, makes it all happen in an instant. Then share your favorites online as usual: email them, upload them to your favorite social networks or photo-sharing site like Nikon's my Picturetown.
D5200 also has a built-in stereo microphone that can be controlled automatically or manually via 20 incremental steps, another first for Nikon HD-SLRs. The GF1 is considerably larger than both G11 and P6000 when you put anything but panncake lens on. Now we have the Olympus PEN (which appeared around the same time) and meanwhile the Panasonic GF2 was released, with an even smaller body. Being able to choose something more lightweight (with a pancake lens) but getting similar good image results was a big deal for customers. These “magic hours” project warm and soft lighting and won’t create harsh, unwanted shadows. You can even use the scenery beyond the window as a backdrop, fooling the viewer into thinking the photo was captured outdoors. You can even use your smartphone or tablet as an external “live view” monitor to see what the camera sees and fire the shutter—perfect for getting into photos instead of always shooting them.
Whether you shoot short clips or cinema-style movies, the D5200 makes it easy to take your projects to the next level. This technology enables smaller and lighter camera bodies and lenses by simplifying the convoluted optical path required by a conventional SLR. I personally carry my GF1 much more around than I used to carry my DSLR camera, due to its bulky dimensions.
If you’re unable to get out during the magic hours, all is not lost – shooting on cloudy overcast days can also produce great results. How about CCTV and a speaker in the elevator (do they have those i??) A good "hey you " might work just as well .
