A 31-year-old man and 18-year-old woman, both from Fernandina Beach, were arrested Tuesday on charges of aggravated battery and shooting into an occupied vehicle after an 18-year-old Yulee man was shot in a car July 7 in Nassauville, according to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.
Luther Heith Pease and Kathleen Michelle Newton were found Saturday in Georgia and sent back to Florida after their arrests by the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, according to investigators.
Further investigation revealed the red car was a Pontiac Grand Am, and the Sheriff’s Office said Newton was the suspected driver and Pease the shooter.
He was arrested after an 18-year-old man was shot in the shoulder July 7 while riding in a car in Nassauville, investigators said. Arrest warrants were filed on the couple as the Sheriff’s Office posted their photos on the department’s Facebook page Friday.

The driver told investigators he saw an older red car behind him, then heard a pop as his car’s back window shattered.
A bullet hit his front-seat passenger in the upper right shoulder, while a bullet hole was found in the Fusion’s right front. The driver took him to a hospital where he was treated and released, the Sheriff’s Office said.
