Then I went through and sorted things by type-all the ribbon together, the fabric in a pile, paints, paint brushes, etc. At Target I got a bunch of cute, bright canvas boxes and plastic boxes and one cute little clear jar.
So what do you consider a scrap of fabric vs material that’s actually usable for something else? I am very happy with the transformation and I think it will be SO MUCH easier to keep these boxes organized. That is how I currently store my meds, but reading this motivated me to reorganize and toss out expired meds. I use plastic drawers just like yours for my bandaides and ointments too, but I purchased 2 divided trays in the closet section at target that fit PERFECTLY in one drawer.

September 12, 2015 by Jennie Leave a Comment Getting your house show ready can seem like a huge task. Do you feel like your piles of papers, crafts, and kids art work is just getting out of hand?
School has only been in for a week now and the paper and art work is already starting to pile up.

Make sure to follow all safety procedures when completely any tutorials on my blog and assume your own risk. The Diary of a Real Housewife is not liable for any projects that you may complete from ideas found on this blog. After finding the clutter (which in my home is super simple!), figure out why it’s there.
Are the toys messy because there are simply too many, because there is no organization system, or because your kids are little monsters (ahem!)?
After these first 2 steps are completed, you are truly ready to conquer your clutter for once and all. One key way to organize clutter is to make sure every single item in your home has a place.
While I agree that containers and bins do not in and of themselves organize a home, I believe that they certainly have a place in organizing clutter. Once you’ve realized the important items that you do in fact need, and you have a place for them, containerizing is a good choice to further organize those items. Having a container for receipts and warranties ensures you always have what you need, when you need it.
While getting organized, you may realize that you have multiples of items (like 5 pairs of kitchen scissors). Taking pictures of some things has allowed me to part with them, but my favourite baby things I am choosing to organize with containers. Organizing your kitchen and food pantry can be a wonderful feeling knowing everything is within easy reach. In one of our linen closets, I use some dollar store bins (that I painted labels on with chalkboard paint) to organize my extra beauty products. I took the frame from an old mirror, taped it off with some painter's tape, and spray painted some stripes on it. And when I don't feel like hanging my jewelry up, I just toss it on a mirrored tray I found at the thrift store. I found an old filing cabinet on the side of the road, spray painted it glossy black and added some chalkboard labels. I also use random containers to house my pens, like the spray painted duck (above) and the gold thrift store mug (below). I also have some drawers next to all of this holding patterns, sewing supplies and other random craft supplies. I guess I just kept my nicest, favorite fabric that was still big enough to work with in one bin and then put everything else in the other.
I used white stack-able baskets, which saved space, but also makes it easier to reach in and grab something.
Now if I could just get my husband to put the meds back in the right place… Also love the three drawer idea for small first aid items, it's on my shopping list! This is an area that I struggle with also and it was kismet when I saw your medi cabinet pinned on a friend's pinterest board today! Instead of storing our vitamins in the kitchen, I bought pill organizers & labeled for each family member. When we moved into this house a few months ago I really wanted to make a space dedicated to school. We have a 4th bedroom that wears a lot of hats. We officially moved into our house just a few weeks before Christmas and i've been unpacking like a mad women trying to get the house livable. I wanted to share with you my tips and tricks that will hopefully make it a little easier for you to do! You now know where the clutter is and why it’s there, making it simple to plan how to get rid of it for good. The bills shouldn’t pile up on your counter if they have a convenient and organized storage spot. Having a bin devoted to hair elastics, headbands, and the like makes sure those items don’t clutter up the bathroom counter. I do a ton of crafts with my kids, and as such, have a ton of crafts saved up as keepsakes. You will not have to search for items and will not have to unnecessarily buy duplicate items.

When it comes to a pantry, most people tend to toss things inside without a reason, but what if you could make life easier? One of the ways I did this was by hanging a pot rack from the ceiling so that our pots and pans didn't take up our limited cabinet space. Then, I added a corkboard to the back, some nailheads, and created my own jewelry organizer. I fold the remnants over a piece of cardboard and store them in old shoe boxes that I've spray painted white and labeled with a sharpie.
I have always enjoyed cleaning, organizing, decorating and helping people, so I've put that all together on the pages of this blog.

Honestly I started there first to make room for more stuff, my boys are growing out of their clothes quickly and we needed more storage space. As my boys grow I am constantly going through toys and clothes, getting rid of the old to make way for the new. Or is it because your spot for bills is inconvenient to access, or too cluttered to add more bills to? The scissors should never go missing, if everyone knows they belong in the left kitchen drawer, etc.
Once in awhile one would be forgotten at work, and we would suffer the consequences the next day. We no longer had that sense of needing to be extra careful with our cups, as we knew there were extras at home. This way everyone in your home will know where items belong, making it impossible for them to plead ignorance when you question why the kitchen scissors are not in the left kitchen drawer. Simply cleaning it up may not be enough, but truly organizing and ensuring everything has its place will allow you to easily conquer that clutter. The time it takes to organize your clutter will be granted back to you ten fold because you will no longer need to search and shop. These ideas don't require that you run out and buy a million containers and just add to the clutter.
Hope you found something somewhere in this post that will help you save a little money and make life a little easier!
I store all of my craft supplies there and often do my crafting there, but ever since becoming a blogger my craft supplies pile is growing and I have been busting out of my space!
When I am not being a mom or a wife I love to bake, I love to sew, I love to read and I don't like to sit still. I then added a couple extra baskets for things that we each use everyday and placed those baskets in the most accessible spots.
Then one day they have completely taken over and you feel overwhelmed, defeated, and like you really miss seeing your floors <-- been there! I decided to use the closet as my homeschool closet and put all of our school things we will need to use during the day. I have a few boxes left in the garage that we will deal with this spring and can have a yard sale! This year I decided not only to keep the house organized, but to declutter and rid the house of things we don't use often.
So last week I spent some time organizing my craft supplies in my small space and I am so happy with how it turned out!
Welcome to Crazy Little Projects where I show off my latest crazy projects and show you how you can do them too. Then try keeping a small supply upstairs in your bedroom closet (high shelf again) if you don't want to go down stairs in the middle of the night for Advil for yourself or kids tylenol(be sure to keep appropriate dosing cups with any liquids, most pharmacists are happy to give an extra 1 or 2 away if asked). I've found that having a couple giant dressers to put folded items into really helps a lot!
I know this problem is going to spiral out of control when we start having kids. Do you have a good way to sort & store these?
