Press D on your keyboard to quickly reset Photoshop's foreground and background colors, which sets black as your foreground color.

We're going to set the colors for our gradient, so click directly on the gradient preview area (circled in red above) to bring up the Gradient Editor. Click OK to exit out of the Color Picker once again, and click OK to exit out of the Gradient Editor as well. Click directly on the words "Bevel and Emboss" in the layer styles menu along the left of the Layer Style dialog box to switch to the Bevel and Emboss options.
Go back up to the Structure options at the top of the Layers styles dialog box and drag the Size slider bar to the right until you've closed up the open spaces inside the letters.
Drag the "Size" slider to the right until you've closed up the open spaces inside the letters. After dragging the "Size" slider to the right, the open spaces inside the letters have been removed. Next, click inside the checkbox to the left of the word Contour on the left of the Layer Style dialog box, directly below the "Bevel and Emboss" option.
One last thing to do here before we exit out of the Layer Style dialog box and switch to the original text layer.
With the original text layer selected, click on the "Layer Styles" icon at the bottom of the Layers palette.
Click directly on the words Bevel and Emboss in the menu on the left of the Layer Style dialog box to once again enable it and bring up its options. First, in order to apply these settings to the stroke, we need to change the top option, Style to Stroke Emboss. We're going to add some sparkles to our gold text to really make it shine, and we're going to use a brush for that. Photoshop will ask you if you want to replace the current brushes with these new brushes or simply append them to the existing ones.
Grab the Eyedropper tool from the Tools palette or press I to quickly select it, and then click on one of the lightest areas in the text to sample that color. With your brush selected and your sampled color ready to go, click in a few random locations around the text to add some sparkles.
Once you've added your sparkles and lowered the opacity to your liking, you've completed the gold lettering effect!

Brown - the commanding color, currently is featured on the latest clothing styles - showing up on everything from t-shirts to women's evening dresses to military uniforms. Leather colors in Brown; earth tones like sienna and hemp are examples of Brown shades that you see in print media everywhere. Graphic Designers will create CMYK Brown Combinations for print ads, catalogues, brochure mailings and other product-marketing support material. Before you begin print projects that include the color Brown, here are some helpful tips to specify the proper CMYK color combination you want to match that finished printed piece.
Brown can print dirty or Brown can have a distinctly rich look on a finished printed product, depending on the CMYK color formula that you select.
For a richer, cleaner Brown, create CMYK color combinations by choosing only 3 color components. If your design calls for a rustic shade of Brown, then you may want to go ahead and choose a combination that does include Cyan, by selecting 3 or 4-color tint values. Tintbook shows you the difference between Brown color combinations built with and without Cyan. Tintbook is the CMYK color selector for print projects where you can choose from hundreds of pre-printed Brown shades that are all printed in CMYK color combinations.
There are over 25,000 CMYK formulas of 2-color, 3-color, and 4-color combinations in each volume.
Next time you are designing for print, make sure that you are not disappointed because you trusted your computer monitor for accurate color results. Once you have a portrait open that you want to work on, it’s helpful to evaluate the problem areas prior to starting. The spot healing tool, which is identified with a band-aide icon, can be found on the vertical tools panel.

Choose a basic round brush and make sure it is just slightly larger than the area you want to improve. Once you have all the correct settings chosen, you can then look for small imperfections that can be fixed and click on them only once. The Healing Brush Tool, which is designed to fix larger areas of an image, can be found in the same drop-down menu on the vertical tools panel as the Spot Healing Tool. I chose an area toward the outside of her face to replicate since it is very pale and smooth. However, I am going to have to keep re-selecting the same spot to avoid having the texture of her hair replicate on her face. Leave the dark circles alone at this point since we are going to use a different tool to improve those. Use the tool to to make a selection around the darkened are under the eyes such as shown here.
Drag the selection to an area of the face or skin that has the texture and tone you would like to copy.
Run the blur tool with a round brush, hardness 50%, around the edges of the erased areas to soften it a bit.
Now, change the opacity of the Background copy layer to somewhere between 40% and 70% depending on your preferences.

Here’s some inspiration for employing textured backgrounds in your paintings or mixed media collages. The above examples were done in watercolor, whereas those below were done with acrylics.  First, apply a layer of one color, let dry, then apply a second layer and press plastic before the paint dries. Taking the plastic wrap technique a step further, you can also use bubble-wrap textures to create patterned circles. You can do this by either pressing the bubble wrap directly into the wet paint, OR by using a brayer to get the paint on the surface, then pressing the wrap onto your painting.
Spattered paint can also create wonderful textures.  You can do this by simply loading your brush and hitting it against your other hand, or you can apply smaller spatters in more detailed areas by using a toothbrush dipped in paint, then pulling your thumb across the bristles to release the wet paint. For more controlled effects with spattering, you can utilize stencils, (you can also use stencils with the sponging technique) to create hard-edged forms and patterns.  Stencils can be the type bought for decorative (tole) painting, or you can create your own stencils by cutting out shapes in heavy-weight paper, such as bristol board.
You can partially obscure text by first covering the pages with acrylic medium or modge-podge, put a layer of paint, then rub off paint where desired. Practice combining techniques on various types of paper, store your papers til they are needed.  The papers can then be cut or torn into various shapes when the right project comes along! Palette-Knife painting is a great way to create thickly textured (impasto) effects.  You can use either a palette knife or a putty knife to add paint to the surface (canvas or panel), or to subtract paint, scraping pack to previous layers. This is a great web page, would you be involved in doing an interview about just how you created it? In this Photoshop text effects tutorial, we're going to learn how to turn text into gold using Photoshop's Layer Styles.
Now we're going to work on the original text layer, so click on it in the Layers palette to select it. This time, rather than adding a bevel and emboss style to the text, we're going to add it to the stroke.
We're going to add a bit of a glow to the text, as if some light was reflecting off the gold.
Then click on the color swatch directly below the word "Noise", which brings up Photoshop's Color Picker. Scroll down the list of available brushes until you come across one that looks like a fancy "X".
Change the brush size after each click to add even more randomness by using the right and left bracket keys to increase or decrease the brush size on the fly.
Interior design trends are emphasizing Brown for wall treatments, furniture and other home accessories.
When Designers begin to research different shades of Brown for their print design projects, they often find printing a 4-color process Brown can be tricky. Because the color conversions from software applications that you may be using now to create Brown colors can produce disappointing color results on press.
The colors are actually printed "ink on paper" - so that you can see the true ink color before you spend time and money for your printing project. Depend on Tintbook to see the actual representation of how your finished brochure, poster, business card or ad job is going to look before you send it to the printer! A common challenge is to match the flesh tones on people's faces, choosing from a variety of brown tints, which will accurately reproduce in print. It's impossible to judge these color tints accurately on your computer monitor since what you are viewing is formulated in RGB and what you will finally print is CMYK ink on paper.
