Samsung has made strides in improving the quality of its cameras with the Galaxy Note 4, and we want to help you get the most out of it. It isn't immediately apparent when opening up the camera app, but you can drag over your often-used camera settings to the side panel to access them quickly. We've mentioned this before on the Galaxy S5 and Note 4, but there's really little reason to use the standard automatic mode when the HDR mode is so darn great on this camera.
The HDR toggle will be on the left side of the viewfinder when you're in the camera, or if you happen to have removed it from the bar you can find it in the settings. While many of us still refuse to recognize selfies as an appropriate form of photography, if you're going to do it you might as well do it right.
The results are actually really great, giving a wide-angle fisheye type shot that can fit everyone (or a lot of the background) into the frame. Rather than ship the camera with dozens of different shooting modes that few people will actually use, Samsung has broken out the less-used camera modes into the Galaxy Apps store for you to download only if you want them. There are six more shooting modes — sequence shot, animated photo, surround shot, sports shot, sound & shot and food shot — to choose from, which you can pick and choose to install. Just keep in mind that when you switch to UHD video recording you lose the ability to use "Dual camera mode," as well as HDR video, real-time video effects and capturing stills during video. When trying out slow motion, keep in mind that the slower the speed the darker your video is likely to be — capturing at high frame rates limits the amount of light each frame can take in, darkening the video. When you press and hold the shutter key in the camera, it'll lock focus and string together up to 30 shots in a row so long as you hold the key down. Today I thought I would share some of my favorite tips and tricks for any beginner out there that will be switching over to Photoshop. Adjusting the levels through Photoshop will add brightness and contrast to your photograph. If you look below, I moved in my black and white sliders and there’s already a huge improvement! If you need to remove some blacks or whites from your photograph, use the Output Levels at the bottom of the Levels window. Since the white tones have a yellow cast on them, I changed the default MASTER color preset to YELLOW. This tool is pretty fun to play around with and will take some time to learn how to use it properly. I painted this end table last year and photographed it in the corner of my dining room (one red wall, one tan wall).

Do you ever take a photograph and  when you’re ready to post you see something sticking out like a sore thumb that you REALLY wish you could get rid of?
You can see in the photo below that there’s an electrical outlet just to the left of my table. Just allow your brush to make the changes and go slow while you “paint” in the clone!
Also, you only use the alt key when selecting the source area for the cloning (you don’t have to hold it down the whole time!). Erin this is fantastic and very timely, as one of my goals this year is to get better at both photography and Photoshop.
As the camera quality has been beefed up the software has scaled back some, and while you don't get extreme granular control over your shots you do have a few different buttons to push to make the most of what the Note 4 has. With the settings expanded, press and hold the setting you plan to use often and drag it over to the edge. It doesn't slow down capture speed by any noticeable amount, but it'll make your pictures pop with that extra bit of color and contrast. When you switch over to the front-facing camera, hit the "mode" button and switch to the "wide selfie" option to show off what the Note 4 can do. Once you've grabbed a few they'll show up under that "mode" button so you can switch back and forth as you see fit. But thankfully you won't need to worry about video stabilization, as OIS keeps things smooth regardless. Those pictures can be reviewed after the fact frame-by-frame so you can select the ones you want, or you can have it play back as an animated scene instead.
I graduated from college with a degree in Graphic Design and have been using the program for over 14 years (wow, that makes me sound OLD!). When I bring up the Levels, you can see the histogram is focused in the center, or midtones. Pull the white slider to the left to remove brightness, or pull the black slider to the right to remove your darkest blacks.
Hue will allow you to change colors, saturation changes your color’s dullness and brightness. The Dodge tool is going to add highlights to a specified area, and the Burn tool is going to add shadows to your specified area. You can really play around with the exposure of a photograph to highlight your lightest areas and really give contrast throughout.

This means if you want to duplicate the tan wall with the subtle shadow, you aren’t going to Alt-click on the red wall or in the middle of the end table. Drag that pretty sky layer underneath your original layer so the sky only shows up behind the home (see below). I’m a beginner and would love to get more tutorials from you progressing through making pictures better to watermarks to collages, and other cool stuff that is useful for a blog. I’m hoping this series will help some ladies out (especially now that Picnik is going away). Read through our full list of Note 4 camera tips and tricks — they may just help you take that next great picture or video. You lose the ability to manually set the exposure, ISO and metering spot, but that's worth it in nearly all situations, particularly when you don't want to fiddle around with the camera before shooting. Just like when you take a panorama, the wide selfie option lets you hit the shutter key and then pan back and forth to get a super wide-angle shot with the front-facing camera. Both high frame rate and high resolution video benefit nicely from the included optical image stabilization on the camera as well.
To help even out the brightness and contrast of your photograph, simply move the black and white sliders to the ends of the histogram (or until you find your desired level). I used the Dodge tool to lighten up the tray and white table, and used the Burn tool to give a dark halo around the photograph. For me I chose an area just below the outlet since the shadow is necessary to duplicate in order for this photo to look authentic.
There are so many different ways you can use this Magic Eraser Tool, but changing out the sky on a dreary day is definitely one of my favorites!
Sorry, hope you can wait but I’d like to make it a clear tutorial for everyone since they can be SO HELPFUL!! You can put up to three of your own settings there, and switch them around whenever you please. Having quick toggles like HDR and slow motion video can save you those precious seconds the next time you go to take a shot.
