In this tutorial will be explained step by step how to create a gold text effect in Photoshop.
The first step is create a new document, well here I input the value of width 600px and height 600px background color: # 201a06. Use the Lasso Tool to make selections around the edges to add a distressed look to the brick text. Go to Layer>layer Style>Global Light and make these settings; you will see thtat the shading and lighting of the text changes. Add a soft shadow effect below the Brick Text using the Brush Tool, a soft round brush and color black.
Use the Eraser Tool to delete the shadow areas that exceeds the Brick Text Group like shown in the image. It might be from the Photoshop version, you should use CS4 or CS5; it might be from the canvas size(try it with a 500x500px canvas size). We all learn something new every day :) If you want to know how to create realistic cast shadow effects in Photoshop you might try these tutorials. To put the brick texture inside the text you simply have to make a selection like explained in the step #6.
Even though the image is small and I can not see the details, the brick text looks pretty good to me. Another Photoshop texture that is really used by digital artists is for sure the old paper texture. In this tutorial, I will show the process I used to create this realistic frozen text effect in Photoshop. This is an beginner to immediate level tutorial and some steps can be a little tricky, have a try!

How To Create a Realistic Pencil Sketch Effect in Photoshop One of the classic Photoshop tutorial topics is the creation of a pencil drawing effect from a photograph. Skill levelIntermediateToday, wea€™re going to be creating a text effect thata€™s similar to the Frozen text, thata€™s on the poster for Disneya€™s new movie, Frozen.
Starting off with the background, this will set the stage for our text, and add a bit of texture, as well.A Ia€™m going to start by filling the background with a dark navy blue, and then Ia€™m going to add in one of my textures, with the Blend Mode set to Multiply. Grabbing the Type Tool, the font Ia€™ll be using will be Trajan Pro, set to bold, and the color will be a lighter blue: #0c86ae, and once the properties are set, type out the word Frozen in the center of the document. Once you press Okay, youa€™ll see that the edges of your type layer are now cracked and chipped. We will combine the brick text effect with different images to create a surreal photo manipulation.
Try to convert your layer to smart object(right click on the layer name and choose Convert to Smart Object).
It looks really nice except the lighting part - the text and the girl look that they are floating.
Simply draw the edges of the shapes that you want to select(using the Lasso Tool) and press delete to erase them. Simply click your mouse on the starting point (Point A) and drag your mouse towards Point B.

All layers are vector based shapes which allows to re-size template to any sizes preserving the sharpness and quality. We wona€™t be recreating the font, because frankly, I dona€™t want to get sued, but let me show you how to create this effect using a texture, and a few Layer Styles. Creating one more new layer, add a single spot around the top right corner of this document, then change the Blend Mode to Soft Light, and decrease the Opacity a touch.
If I could offer a little request in your videos, how difficult would it be to go through the entire end process of how you get to the final polished piece as you would present to a client?
I have been a novice Photoshop user for over a decade and was thoroughly impressed with your application of the tools to create the font effect. I am waiting to see your results; you can use other textures like wood for example to create your own interesting text effects.
Than go to the second step of the action like shown in the image and click Play, maybe that way it will work. If you have any questions about the Photoshop tutorials, feel free to leave a comment and I will try my best to answer it. Like I mentioned, wea€™re not going to be recreating the font that Disney used, as Ia€™m sure it was custom created for the movie, so wea€™ll use something a bit more generic.
Call this layer Brick Text and remove all the other layers from this new PSD file. But having trouble getting the brick actually behind the text? But as I dona€™t have Disneya€™s permission to do so, I can only show you how to create a similar text effect.
