When I opened the package and looked at the book, my first impression was that there is lot of content in the book. The chapters in this book range from basics of photography to natural light photography and artificial light photography.
I flipped the pages and I was pleasantly surprised to see the quantity of images included in this book. For an instructional book on food photography, it is imperative to have stunning food photos. From food photography books that are currently available in the market, there is no doubt in my mind that Plate to Pixel book is a must-have.
Thank you Helene, for sharing so much of your knowledge with us and for creating a resources that is a must-have book. I am just getting started in food photography — as a hobby, not a profession (though it would be nice to progress to that). I ordered this book from amazon last week and waiting for the book to arrive and I am so happy after reading this review that i have made a correct choice. Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. The very next time I read a blog, Hopefully it won’t disappoint me as much as this one. Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate.

Hi greats tips, I am a professional food stylist, and even I need reminding sometimes of the basics.
I really enjoy looking at dishes on glossy magazine pages and just learned some “practices” on photographing food recently. I’d like to start a blog so I will be able to share my own experience and views online.

Malaysia is a melting pot of different cultures, different ethnic backgrounds and inevitably, this brings out an eclectic mix of cuisines, rated as one of the best in the world. I am not surprised if most Malaysians do not know how to make Murtabak from scratch, but I will certainly be surprised if a Keralite can’t do a keema paratha! For Malabar paratha, there is a art to tossing and spinning the dough until it becomes a really thin layer.

Umm, as someone completely outside of the situations… the things you pointed out that your friend said this weekend don’t really read as personal attacks, just questions and banter? As isolated remarks, I don’t see too much maliciousness in any of the comments but if they were all in the space of a few hours then I guess it could feel personal.
I like the others dont think there is much too it, but again I cant judge the tone of voice.

I think the second Christmas is a nice idea, we do it every year with the grandchildren, they get their pressies from our family on Boxing Day when we get to spend quality time with them, I think that is a lovely idea. I would suggest spending slightly less time in each others pockets for a few weeks and see how it goes. I loved adding all of the embellishments, using fancy scissors on the patterned papers, being over run with ridiculous amount of ribbon and adhesives, and having a lasting document to chronical what I valued as our most important family moments. This book, on food photography is written by Helene Dujardin, a pastry chef turned food blogger.
Looking at the table of content, Helene packaged a lot of information in this 288-page book. It seems like she was talking to the reader directly, as if the reader was in a workshop with her and she was personally teaching food photography to each reader individually. It is like holding Helene’s portfolio in your hand and as if she is explaining you how she took that photo. If there was only one food photography book that I had to recommend my friend, it would be this one. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter.
It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. You realize so much its almost tough to argue with you (not that I actually will need to…HaHa). However, if you aspire to become a food stylist or are a food blogger who does her own food styling and food plating, this post will help you to understand some basics of plating and styling.
You are absolutely right, stacking and giving height to food can be visually interesting :)I stick toothpicks into stacks where ever possible to hold them up. Nice tips in this post.A simple garnish can make the food visually attractive and make it come alive! Just like I cannot live without my Scottish oats porridge in the morning and scones for tea, I still yearn for some Mamak food ever so often that I usually would follow my heart’s desire and cook it fresh at home. Also, the Malabar paratha (porottha) is way different than a North Indian paratha, though both version taste just as delicious. Murtabak is simply upgraded from the plain paratha by filling it with spiced minced meats and fold the sides into an envelope. As the meat will produce some water, simmer on low heat until the meat is well cooked and almost dry. Using oiled hands, stretch the dough, toss and spin on air (this takes a bit of expertise but do-able) until it becomes a circle and as thin as a tissue paper.
