Somewhat counter-intuitively, if you want to break up the appearance of the light fog, you need to alter the Color of the light, not the light fog's Density or other attributes.
An interesting, but rarely useful effect is to add a light glow and lens flare to your light. If you only need to limit the edges of your light, then using the Barn Doors of a Spotlight will be sufficient. While not technically a lighting technique, Environment Fog has a dramatic effect on a scene and so you should know how to apply it. I was walking around the mall the other day and I saw the das made for Adidas, they totally blew my mind and I really wanted to try and figure out how they were made. I changed the projection pattern inside the Light Blaster and the position of the light for every shot to get slightly different effect. Hey, great article but the typos took a lot away from enjoying what is being presented here.

One does not typically expect a light to emit more than one color, but this can be useful for creating gradations. Sometimes you want to create a shadow, but you don't want to add any more light to the scene by creating another light. This can also be found under Light Effects as Light Glow and operates in much the same way as light fog.

In this tutorial I am going to take you  through the process it takes to create a similar effect.
Both the lighting and the posing serve to create a well crafted message (without even showing any shoes).
After getting the right exposure for the Light Blaster, add some accent or kicker light on your subject.
The last light was a hair light, I got another YN-460 speedlight and gridded it with a DIY honeycomb. Change the mode into lighten or lower your opacity to see each image stack onto each other. His passion is teaching and sharing his knowledge in Photograpy and has been doing this for 6 years. You can also use it to simulate effects such as caustics (shown below) or stained glass windows.
A gobo is simply something you put in front of a light to prevent it from reaching certain areas. The image on the right was created by narrowing the left and right barn doors of the Spotlight.
As always with every setup, it is easiest to start off with only one light, and then add one light at a time. I placed a bare YN-460 II right-back of the subject and set it about 1 stop higher than my main light. You can follow his work on his web page, follow him on Flickr and if you happen to come by Cubao, Quezon City (To Manila, Philippines) he gives a great workshop!
To create a shadow-only light, set the Color to black, the Intensity to a negative number, the Shadow Color to White, and turn on Depth Map Shadows. It is generally a better idea to lower or focus your existing lights than to complicate the matter by adding more lights.

You can add light fog to a light by going to the Light Effects area of a light's attributes and clicking the map button () next to Light Fog.
Follow the connection to get to the envFogMaterial attributes, where you can adjust various settings. Of course, those are my insights and I don’t really know if this is in fact how the photo was taken, but they served me in creating the look. The solution is to have two lights, one for illuminating objects and one to cast the light fog. The light Blaster is what I used to create the face patterns (with the slides you see below). I set some of the layers with transparency just for placement, once everything falls into position, I’ll take that out.
If you are trying to subtract a specific color from your scene, make sure that your negative light is the same color, otherwise you may end up with an unintended color instead of darkening the scene.
The Fog Spread and Fog Intensity attributes in Light Effects are also important for controlling the light fog's appearance. Turn off Illuminates by Default on the fog light unless you want objects to obstruct the light fog using shadows. The image on the left was created with a set of planes that would be visible in the shot if they were not transparent.
