Nearly any of the smaller sandwiches on most fast-food chain menus come under our 40-gram carbohydrate limit; you just have to avoid the "monster" sandwiches like McDonald's Big Mac, Burger King's Angus Steakburger, etc.
With 50 grams of carbs to play around with, you have plenty of choices at almost any fast-food restaurant. In the "induction" phase of the diet (usually the first two weeks), a diet as close as possible to carbohydrate-free is the goal. It is easy to make poor food choices when faced with all those sugar-covered treats — especially at Halloween parties. They claim this forces the body to use its fat reserves for fuel instead of the carbohydrates quickly available from a pre-workout meal or snack.
