The book is packed with info that's new to me, though I will have been on low-carb 6 years this November, and I read almost exclusively about health issues (too soon old, so much new info). I'm only about half way through the book and I thank heaven for all the low-carb-high-fat information that I hope will prevent recurrence of long-standing breast lumps (which disappeared in the first weeks of LCHF) and bleeding colon polyps (surgically removed 10 years ago). Wholegrain products are just less bad. Legumes, such as beans and lentils, are high in carbs. But as a rough guide stay under 20 grams per day for maximum effect, and everyone who wants some benefits of low-carb eating (like effortless weight loss) should probably aim for at least staying under 100 grams of carbs per day. If you’re not sure what will be served you can eat something at home before you leave.
One must eat for their genetics, and most people’s genetics dictate that a lower carbohydrate approach is superior. Moderate amounts of root vegetables may be OK (unless you’re eating extremely low carb).


Drink water. Pizza toppings are usually OK, and the stricter you are the less of the pizza crust you will eat. For example one or several kinds of cheese, fried bacon, fried mushrooms, good sausage (read the ingredients) or left-overs from last night’s dinner. I don't have a scale because I don't care what I weight, just how I feel, but I do feel slimmer.
