I have to say that healthy eating comes much easier to me than daily exercise, but I'm slowly coming around.

As such, we both feel it's important to demonstrate healthy eating habits and emphasize fitness as a family. So I thought it would be fun to share some of favorite heart healthy snack ideas that we turn to in the evenings! Apples are loaded with fiber, and you'll get those heart healthy monounsaturated fats again from nut butter. Whether paired with whole grain chips or fresh veggies (red & yellow pepper slices, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes and sugar snap peas are some of my faves), hummus is a delicious and portable healthy snack idea!
I know how important it is to eat snacks throughout the day, but I also know how difficult it can be to make a healthy choice when you don’t plan ahead and the only edible thing in sight is contained within a vending machine.

My new favorite snack is sliced cucumbers with a dollop of (fat free) cottage cheese on top. It’s my sweet little mini-me’s turn to bring healthy snacks to class this week at her Montessori school and they ALL look so good! It’s so simple and yummy and it fixes my pesky cheese and cracker craving with a fraction of the calories.
