While browsing on a forum, I came across a Delia Smith recipe for a Chocolate Cake which uses NO flour.
Def looked like a cake and smelt delicious, my hubby loved it (he wouldnt wait 4 it to cool). 13 syns for entire cake (without toppings), but 3.5 syns per serving when splitting the cake into 4 portions.
I have got to try that… I havent missed chocolate as yet in 6 weeks but when I saw this recipe its got to be madeВ  thanks!

I was wondering whether by incorporating some cocoa powder into the mix you could make a sort of chocolatey one (obviously would add a few more syns). I've just made one with almond favouring in the cake, white choc and almond quark as a filling with mixed frozen berries. I usually make this recipe in 2 sandwich tins and fill and decorate with fruit as you would a victoria sandwich. Spray two round sandwich tins with low calorie buttery spray to prevent the cake from sticking and Pour the mixture equally into the two tins.
When the cake is cool, get one half of the cake and spread with the quark mixture, top with fresh raspberries and then sandwich together with the other cake half.

I am in need of something cake-ey so thought I’d browse your recipes, this looks terrific. So thought ooooh this could work for a slimming world recipe if I substitute the caster sugar with splenda. It is definitely not a stand-alone type of cake, it needs a topping but it would still have been too bitter even if I’d have topped it with something. My other half is sick of me baking 10 syn cakes and I was looking for something virtually syn free.

Also, with cocoa in the main mix (count the syns) and with quark and either muller Greek cherry yogurt for a Black Forest flavour or the limited edition Turkish Delight yogurt. My latest incarnation has cinnamon and mixed spice, plus a teaspoon of cocoa in the mix, and a WW fat free cherry fromage frais as the filling. I made this cake tonight, and it was great, apart from the from age frais in the middle was so runny, it oozed out all over the place. Please do not distribute or repost content without the explicit permission of Low Syn Life. Bake in the oven for approx 25 mins until golden brown and a toothpick entered in the centre of the cake comes out clean. The texture was also very springy and sponge-like, which is to be expected from a cake that has no flour and uses so many eggs. It's not a 'cake' as such, but considering the lack of syns it's a great way to satisfy a sweet or cake craving. Did you use plain flour instead of self raising or open the oven when it was still cooking, as either of those things could prevent the cake from rising, other than that I can’t say why it went wrong for you, I have had many emails from readers who loved this recipe.
