Today, I thought I’d share a collection of my favorite recipes that are both vegetarian (as always) and gluten free.
We all need quick and easy gluten free meals that are family friendly and inexpensive to make.So often people think of gluten free food as food that needs special ingredients and a lot of work, but it does not have to be. I have so many recipes in the main section of my site that can be made gluten free with just a few changes.I hope that by sharing the changes needed to make them gluten free it will help you in several ways. I also hope it will help those new to gluten free in learning how to adapt recipes and make them safe for the gluten free life.The gluten free recipe I want to share today is a simple slow cooker swiss steak that is so easy to make gluten free. The easy replacement is a gluten free flour blend or a combination of rice flour and cornstarch.
Either one works well in this recipe because you В just coating the meat in the flour mixture.The second change I made was to make sure my Worcestershire sauce was gluten free. There may be other brands that are gluten free, but I use Lea and Perrins.With two simple changes I made a family favorite that we have made for years into an easy gluten free meal. Not only was the dish delicious and super simple to make, I was even able to do some cleaning during the 40 minutes before it was time to prepare the mushrooms. We served the cabbage wraps with fresh grilled corn and felt like we were eating a meal beautiful and delicious enough to be featured on a magazine cover. I am pretty confident in my knowledge of gluten-free ingredients, but like Matt said, I research anything if I’m unsure.


I also add a note at the end of every gluten-free recipes that requires a minor substitution or verification to be truly GF (like tamari soy sauce and white miso are usually, but not always, GF).
I often surprise myself when a create a recipe, to find it was gluten-free without even trying! I emphasize whole grains on the blog and in my own diet because I’m hypoglycemic and really feel the effects of simple carbs (no good!).
