Some of you are PUMPED for this recipe because you are doing the 21 Day Sugar Detox like I did just a couple weeks ago, and some of you are less than thrilled because you don’t give a sh*t about a sugar detox.
Reason number 1,237 i need an ice cream maker, I will be purchasing this week, just for this recipe. Today, January 6, 2014, is the start of one of the largest groups ever for the 21 Day Sugar Detox. With the holidays behind me, I was ready to quit all the cheating and Paleo treating, and I wanted to start the New Year off right. Whether you are sugar detoxing or not, I highly recommend everyone pick up a copy of The 21 Day Sugar Detox Cookbook for guilt-free meals that are simple enough for weeknight cooking, but so tasty that each meal feels like a great delight. Similarly, I was delighted to find very few recipes laden with calorically-dense almond meal.
I have not yet read the companion book to this, The 21 Day Sugar Detox, but Diane does an excellent job recapping the important pieces. Perhaps one of the best Paleo breakfast recipes I have tried recently, this actually reminds me of banana pudding, not oatmeal, (the kind with the ‘Nilla Wafers) that I have fond non-Paleo memories of. Yes, this recipe featured restaurant-level prices, but the flavor combinations were of the same caliber. With that, I highly recommend you try out The 21 Day Sugar Detox Cookbook for fresh, complaint, fast, and tasty meals that you will make again and again.
We have had great results, and we love this detox because while it is a challenge, its a doable one. Like we said earlier, TODAY is the start of the biggest group of 21 Day Sugar Detoxers EVER.


Ok, before you judge the sh*t out of these pictures and think this dessert looks disgusting and hate on this recipe, breathe. I just made these and they were great I was looking for an easy way to add more calories to the detox since I’m worried about consuming too few. Most people who have been paleo for a while have heard of this detox, and many more have even tried a round themselves. Our love of food has been a bond that has outlasted jobs, wholesale lifestyle changes, and the birth of TWO of Stacy and Matt’s paleo kids!
You’re allowed green apples in moderation while on the sugar detox, and if you read my post yesterday about my experience with the detox, you know that green apples began to taste super sweet to me after cutting out all sugar. I am allergic to apples unless they are cooked for long enough to denature the protein causing the allergy and I am constantly looking for great recipes for cooked apple yum-yums.

Over one week, I made six recipes out of The 21 Day Sugar Detox Cookbook, and spent countless hours drooling over even more gorgeous photographs and meticulously crafted recipes and meal plans. I’ve been paleo (and paleo-ish) for two years and happily married to a vegetarian for even longer.

This recipe is not to be missed, but it’s my personal preference to save yourself some trouble and serve this as a warm shrimp salad over sautéed cabbage or with cauli-rice. As a recovering grain-aholic, when I went paleo, I lost weight, gained muscle, learned how to stop my constant tummy trouble, and learned how to stop feeling terrible after a workout. Stacy, lover of all things chia pudding, is particularly excited about this sugar-detox recipe and will be trying it personally when the next craving hits!
So Margaret, thank YOU for enhancing my life with this amazing ice cream maker so I can create even more recipes for the Paleo community and now the Sugar Detox community. If you aren’t doing the sugar detox, you are a much happiner person AND are lucky because you can add honey and chocolate chips to make it stupid good.
I’ve already made 4 ice creams in it so there will be many more ice cream recipes to come! So instead, I will fill my weekend with creating new recipes for my cookbook and then go to Front Range to cheer on all the amazing athletes with food in hand.
