While there are many Paleo friendly restaurants in NYC, there aren’t many places where you can just order pretty much blindly anything off the menu and still be overjoyed at eating delicious and Paleo food!
I know the name sounds like some random Chinese restaurant, but the Hu actually stands for Human, and they don’t serve any Chinese food!


What really impresses me is that everything is made with Paleo oils (they even make their own mayo!), so no canola oils and no sunflower oils or any other seed oils!
The restaurant menu shows a stereotypical image of modern humanity's forbearer, the jutting profile of a hirsute caveman. Sauvage, which is also the French word for 'savage' or 'wild,' is part of the Paleolithic diet movement and claims to be first of its kind in Europe.That means serving only organic, unprocessed fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, eggs, nuts, seeds, and herbs. While Sammy's does offer plenty of wild game burgers and hot dogs, the real appeal here for paleo adherents is its salad section: You can get nearly any animal on a salad here. Snap Kitchen (which just opened a new location in the downtown tunnels at One Allen Center) offers an entire paleo section in its stores, which also happens to feature my new favorite juice as one of the options: Far East Turmeric Elixir, a blend of pineapple, jicama, fresh turmeric root, Thai basil and Granny Smith apples.

Paleo eaters will delight in dishes that marry grass-fed beefs and just-picked veggies from the garden, as well as the variety of oysters on offer. For bolder Paleo palettes, the bistro also offers gems like beef tongue and beef heart cru. Hu Kitchen, on 5th Avenue, is the only place in NYC where the entire menu is pretty much Paleo (from the cooking oils to the no-grains)! The banchan (side dishes, both hot and cold) served along with your meal are usually paleo-friendly, too, with plenty of vegetables crowding the table alongside your fish feast.Partners in PaleoThis is a relatively new restaurant in League City which specializes in -- you guessed it -- paleo food only.
Although it's only open for lunch right now, Partners in Paleo has already been garnering praise for what fans are calling delicious, inexpensive food in a cute, cozy cafe environment. If paleo is that diet for you, here's a list of places that make it easy to stick to your clubs.
Look for dishes such as Paleo Paella with grated cauliflower rice, housemade chorizo, organic chicken, crispy salmon, shrimp and mussels cooked down with saffron, tomatoes, coconut milk, coconut oil and jalapeños, or a Turkey Bolognese with spaghetti squash noodles, tomato sauce with ground turkey, fresh herbs, basil, EVOO, shaved Parmesan and grilled asparagus. If you're super strict, just ask them to leave the Parm off.Roots BistroMuch of the menu at Roots Bistro is naturally paleo-friendly, as it focuses on raw, vegan and vegetarian dishes with a modern, upscale twist.
