September 27, 2011 By Dan Toombs 32 Comments Chicken jalfrezi is one of the easiest curries to make. This is not a traditional jalfrezi recipe like you might find in the cookbooks from the British Raj. As with all of my curry house style recipes, you will need to make a batch of curry sauce and pre-cook your chicken. I have written a large and small version of my curry sauce recipe which will need to me made before cooking this recipe.

Take the chopped chicken and coat it in the cumin, ground coriander and turmeric then leave it to marinade in the fridge while you make the sauce.
It has the wow factor, I will be making it again but as somebody said make it before hand then heat up after but adding water to it, if you don't get the kick from this recipe, then just add a bit of chilli powder to your taste. This recipe series is thanks to Natco who provided this particular recipe group, subject to a couple of Paleo alterations that I’ve made to eliminate the sugar.  Hopefully I’ve made the recipe a bit easier to follow than I found with their original write-up too. For chicken and vegetable quantities I allow 1 large chicken breast (about 250g), quarter of a pepper (finely chopped) and quarter of a courgette (halved and thinly sliced) per person. Add the jalfrezi style pan contents (the pepper and chillis) into the curry base.  Mix together thoroughly and serve up.

As a relative novice to indian cuisine, I am often left pondering as to the quantity, order and use of certain spices for various dishes. You could also add tandoori style chicken tikka to this recipe if you’d like to create tandoori Chicken Jalfrezi.
