A small quantity of caustic soda is again added in order to set a specific residual soap content in the oil. Because of the soap in the oil, these wax crystals bind to the water added to the crystallisers. However, use of the process is confined to oils with a relatively low FFA content as the oil losses are otherwise too high.
The caustic quantity required for neutralising the free fatty acids is admixed with the oil.
The oil is gently heated to reduce the viscosity before the soapstock is separated in a centrifuge along with the waxes.
Applied To : All kinds of the crude veg oil, extracted from soybeans,cottonseeds, rapeseeds,maize embryo,rice bran, palm fruit ,etc. Physical Refining is suitable for some kinds of crude oil with the less non-hydratable phospholipids and high FFA. This is only for the several kinds of veg oil ,such as sunflower,cottonseeds,palm,rice bran,etc.


Like the Sunflower, cottonseeds,Corn and Rice bran oil must to be dewaxed before consumption as it contains more wax.
The Oil with high molecular wax tastes not well and affact appetite, can not be digested and absorded,so it is necessary to remove it.

In batch oil refinery process, a measured quantity of oil is processed in sequence of neutralizing, bleaching & deodorizing.
Crude oil obtained from expellers or solvent extraction plant contains foreign impurities such as mucilage, gums, coloured & unfiltered proteinous matter from seed. The edible oil obtained in a batch refining is of good quality meeting all requirement of International standard. After the soapstock is separated in the first separator, the oil is conveyed to the actual winterising stage. The gums content in the oil should be controlled for suitable for the next distilling process .Add the small quantity of acid or dilute alkali to the crude oil ,to change the non-hydratable phospholipids into hydratable phospholipids for easily being washed out .
This process not only remove out the FFA and odiferous compounds,but also the reduces the color,decomposition of oil, peroxide value,trace metals etc. Degumming oil could be used for producing the No 3-4 Grade edible oil after Dehydration and desolventization. Also the wax makes the oil cloudy.the salard oil or high cooking oil must be the clearer and not exhibitcloudiness when stored in the refrigerator at low temperatures.
Finally it will be deodorized under high vacuum & high temperature to remove the odour from the oil. However, in case of Sunflower and Rice Bran Oil, there is one more process of De-Waxing after bleaching process.
