DIYideas repurposes iron grates from old homes by painting them and affixing them to the wall. We have a great hook for our keys and jacket, and a go to place for our purse, but our mail always ends up tossed on the table.
By snipping strategic wires from the front of the cage, adding shelves, and (of course) giving it a good clean, this birdcage becomes a sleek mail station for a front entryway or desk.
Giving old materials new life always makes us happy, and these will go almost anywhere for a great mail-catching solution. We have been using a stacked 3-tier mail sorter from Ikea, but it takes up precious counter space, so it’s been bugging me for a while.

This is a funky way to create a sort of a frame for your mail and miscellaneous paper ephemerata. By folding the pages of a hardcover book in half, an adorable and rather sculptural mail and picture holder is created.
I thought that I was heading down a good path by putting a metal desk organizer on my kitchen counter for incoming mail and important documents, but I ended up taking advantage of that fact that it could hold a lot of things and stuffed it full with way more items than I needed to keep.
I love all things diy, thrifting and decorating and have created this blog as a creative outlet and to share my ideas with you!
Prior to reading this post, I had actually paid a visit to Homesense and found a vertical mail organizer that I really liked, but when I got it home, I realized that it was too long.

The only way that I was going to be able to use the wall space above our desk was if I had mail organization of some sort that could be hung in a row horizontally. It's a super quick (and cute) way to organize mail and keep all your important papers (like pizza coupons) in one spot without taking up any counter space—YES!
