Once recipes are complete for the story they’reВ passed to a different member of the Test Kitchen team. THE BOOK: Kary Osmond hosts a CBC TV show called Best Recipes Ever, using recipes culled from the Canadian Living test kitchen. The thing that makes this cookbook, Canadian Living: The Vegetarian Collection, so accessible for non-vegetarians, is that (I believe) these are all recipes originally published in Canadian Living magazine, which is not a strictly vegetarian audience.
I think Canadian Living was very smart (marketing-wise) to compile a bunch of magazine recipes into a book. The Vegetarian Collection is the tenth compilation that Canadian Living has published with Random House of Canada since 1999. The recipe, Asparaus Goat Cheese Omelettes, calls for asparagus, green onions, fresh tarragon and goat cheese inside the omelettes. So far I’ve only had the opportunity to try the omelette recipe from this book, but believe me, it is chock-a-block full of goodies I want to make and eat.

There are also several Quiche and Torte-style recipes and I’d be interested in trying one. Canadian Maple Syrup Tarts: A Canada Day celebration just wouldn’t be complete without butter tarts! Creamy Potato Salad Recipe: This salad would make a yummy side dish to go with your main meal.
We work about 6 months in advance of the issue going to newsstand so that there’s plenty of time for the whole process (which includesВ photography planning and shooting, nutritional analysis, recipe editing, layout and more). Inspiration comes from many sources including past experience like great restaurant meals or things we’ve cooked at restaurants, travel, wandering through grocery stores and farmers markets, things we love to eat and cook at home, past Canadian Living recipes that can be tweaked and modernized, trendy ingredients, seasonal ingredients and our (sometimes wild and crazy) imaginations. Best Recipes Ever: Easy, Affordable, Healthy Meal Solutions for Everyday Occasions brings together the first two seasons in cookbook form. Each recipe is made again exactly how it’s written taking measurements (that are used for nutritional analysis), making note of timing and ensuring that the recipe works as it is so that when published our readersВ are successful in their own kitchens.

My mom suggested trying a fritata (basically a baked omelette) but this recipe looked so good. We write a Recipe Development Report noting any changes and adjustments along the way and write the recipe in Canadian Living style.
Once in while recipes are retested twice with little tweaks here and there to get them just right.
Second, I’m a vegetarian (with a number of dietary issues) so I am always eager to see new recipes. The retester completes a Recipe Test Report that includes a very detailed account of weights and measurements for nutritional analysis, timing and any changes.
