Once the split peas are fully cooked, remove the cardamom pods and add them to the soup pot with the vegetables.


Add the spinach and stir through, allowing it to wilt before removing the pan from the heat. Fry 4 cakes, measuring ¼ cup mixture for each, about 3 minutes on each side, until golden.
