Columbus city leaders are hungry to host a political convention here in Ohio’s capital city, and they’re making it clear to both Republican and Democratic Party leaders.
Mayor Michael Coleman has made landing a 2016 political convention a priority, and together with the organization Experience Columbus, they are making an aggressive push. Experience Columbus recently delivered a 137 page bid to the Republican National Committee (RNC) for the 2016 Convention.
And while the city would need to spend an estimated $55 million in up-front costs to prepare for a convention of this magnitude, it’s estimated that landing the convention would generate up to $200 million. The RNC has narrowed their choices down to eight cities: Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland Denver, Dallas, Kansas City, Las Vegas and Phoenix.
The pitch to the DNC is similar to that with the Republicans: The road to the White House runs through Ohio. I have been a full-time professional realtor for nearly as long as I can remember (okay, about 26 years) and I truly enjoy helping my clients find the home of their dreams, within their budget, and making the transaction a smooth and pleasant experience.
