New England’s second-ranked passing defense gets its chance Sunday afternoon when Manning and the Denver Broncos (6-1) travel to Gillette Stadium for a midseason showdown with the Patriots (6-2).
Just ask the Chargers, 49ers, Jets or Cardinals, Manning’s last four victims since his only loss of the year in the third game of the season. Since then, he’s thrown 14 touchdown passes and sits near the top of league in almost every major passing category. The 16-year veteran, who two weeks ago set the new standard for passing touchdowns in a career, has thrown for 2,134 yards and 22 touchdowns, tied with Indianapolis’ Andrew Luck for the league lead. He faces perhaps his stiffest test of the season this week, though, as New England’s defense is yielding just 211 passing yards per game and is the only unit in the league not to allow a completion of more than 40 yards. It helps that he has one of the league’s most dangerous receiving corps with Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Wes Welker and tight end Julius Thomas. Mix in running back Ronnie Hillman and the Patriots defense is in for one of its tallest tasks of the year. Manning most definitely will make his checks at the line of scrimmage, reading the defense and screaming out audibles before almost every snap, but don’t expect McCourty or Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis to enter into a guessing game with the chess master. McCourty knows that Manning will try and replicate what worked in that first half and change what didn’t in the second. Seattle decided to throw the ball on second down and an inch and Wilson is picked off by Butler. With 20 seconds to play, New England lead by four and Seattle can only stop the clock once. Another excellent drive for the Patriots ends with Brady hitting Edelman for the short reception and the six points. Brady finds Amendola in the back of the end zone for a four-yard reception and the Patriots are within three points.
Just what New England needed, a very quick three and out for the Seahawks and they will get the ball back.
When the Patriots had the lead in the first half, their short gains and steady driving up the field worked a treat. Brady can't find Amendola on third down, and suddenly all those 3rd and long conversions that were coming off in the first half for the Patriots are coming up incomplete. It's another punt for New England, and Seattle will get the ball back with three minutes to play in the third and a 10-point lead. Baldwin is left wide open with the freedom of one half of the end zone and Wilson floats a pass into him to give Seattle their third touchdown of the day, and they extend their lead. Seattle take the lead for the first time tonight, but New England will be relieved they didn't give away seven points there.
Once again it was Matthews who made a big play with a 45-yard catch from a pass from Wilson to take the Seahawks into the end zone, but they couldn't get the ball into the end zone. Katy Perry, Missy Elliot and Lenny Kravitz have left the field and we're ready to get back to the action on the field. The Patriots will feel they've had the better of things, but will be disappointed to give up that touchdown just before the break.
An absolute mismatch on the outside for Gronk as he comes up one-on-one against Wright, and Brady floats a pass over the top of the Seattle defender to his tight end to put the Patriots back in front just before half-time in Arizona. Finally they get the ball moving on offense and Wilson has a couple of completions, none bigger than a 44-yard toss deep to Matthews to set the Seahawks up in the red zone. Wilson goes deep on third down but is met by a swarm of Patriots defenders ready to bat the ball away and force another three and out for the Seahawks. New England, though, will be hoping they don't 'do a Green Bay' and take their foot off the gas.
No mistake this time from Brady as he throws one on the money to Lafell for the first score of the game. Once again the Patriots marching up the field impressively, making some key third down conversions, and this time they do get on the board.
The short gains and quick passing from Brady is not giving the Seahawks secondary a chance to make a play.
An almost perfect drive for the Patriots comes to an end in the red zone as Brady is intercepted by Lane. Seattle's defense comes up with the goods once again, though, and here comes their offense once again. A good early victory for the Patriots defense as they hold Marshawn Lynch three times to stop the Seahawks from getting a first down. The way the Patriots defense performs today, especially in stopping the run, will be crucial and they've made a good start. The Patriots manage to get one first down before Brady's third down pass in incomplete, forcing them into a punt. Good start for the Seattle defense, especially against the run in keeping Blount to four yards from two rushes. New England called heads, but it came down as tails, and the Seahawks fans erupted into cheers.

John Legend sings 'America the Beautiful' as NBC cut to pictures of some of the county's famous landmarks, including Arizona's very own Grand Canyon. Idina Menzel then has the honour of singing the American national anthem 'Star Spangled Banner' for the crowd at the University of Phoenix Stadium. Before we get underway, Carolina Panther's Thomas Davis is awarded with the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year award. There was also a moment's silence for Giants co-owner Ann Mara, who sadly passed away, as well.
With the weather reports guaranteeing a rainy, windy Sunday afternoon, I’m taking the Patriots in a sloppy defense led battle. With the Patriots sitting at 2-1 after week 3, they face a tough rest of the first half with home games against the red-hot Ravens and the always tough AFC East foe from Florida, the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots will take a winning record into the Peyton Manning’s house and face another team with a winning record, the Indianapolis Colts. Things don’t get any easier for the good guys in week 11 as they face the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium. In the first round of the playoffs, expect the Pats to face the AFC East division champions, the New York Jets. I agree the Jets will win the division, but I see the Pats need more of the 12-4, or my predicted 13-3 if they’re going to make the playoffs this season.
Brady completed 25 of 42 passes for 277 yards and no interceptions and faced much less pressure than he did in his first two games. The Denver Broncos defense will be tested by the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. In the six wins that the Broncos have recorded, Manning has looked both sharp and horrendous. The Sunday night game against the Green Bay Packers is not going to be the deadly shootout that people are expecting. Both the Broncos and the Packers defenses are at the top of the heap when it comes to points per game.
The Packers are preparing for the Broncos as if Manning is the same player he was in his MVP days. Kellan Lutz has come to the defense of Gisele Bundchen‘s pray-for-the New England Patriots email. Earlier in the week, some criticized the supermodel and wife of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady after an email she sent to friends and family encouraging them to pray for her husband’s success in the Super Bowl game against the New York Giants was leaked. The Dallas Cowboys may be interested in Connecticut cornerback Byron Jones in the upcoming NFL Draft. The Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots may both be interested in Connecticut cornerbackByron Jones in the NFL Draft. I hate to be Captain Obvious, but the Dallas Cowboys desperately need to upgrade in the defensive back department. Naturally, the Cowboys have been linked to Wake Forest cornerback Kevin Johnson in the first round of the NFL Draft this month. Jones had a good reputation at Connecticut and was known as a hard worker who led by example.
His combine performance, specifically his broad jump and vertical, has had scouts buzzing for weeks now and the tape matches up. You don't have to be a booze hound to enjoy the travel adventures of Jack Maxwell, host of "Booze Traveler" on Travel Channel. Louise Harrison, the elder sister of George Harrison, had a front-row seat to musical history. Lukas Nelson, the son of Willie Nelson, has released a new album, "Something Real," with his roots rock band Lukas Nelson & Promise of The Real.
He has completed 69 percent of his passes, the second-best rate in the league, and has been intercepted just three times while guiding the league’s highest-scoring offense at 32 points per game.
That's where our LIVE coverage ends, but there will be plenty more reaction to follow on MailSport so stay tuned to our site. He missed the initial attempt, but as he feel to the ground the ball ricocheted off his leg and bounced right into his hands.
The first time they have led in the second half, and a fine comeback from 10 points down at the start of the fourth quarter. It's a very quick three and out and the Patriots have the ball back with just under seven minutes to play.
It was a huge drive for New England that started with a 2nd and 18, but ended in the end zone. Now, though, with a 10-point deficit, there's a bit more desperation in New England's plays. Wagner is the man who comes up with the pick, and the Seahawks defense have made just the start they wanted to this second half. A costly 15-yard penalty for a facemask gave Wilson a shot at the end zone with six seconds to play, and he finds Matthews in the corner to level the scores once again.

They force the Patriots into a three and out for the first time today as Brady can't come up with a completion on 3rd and 3. Much like the NFC Championship Game, Seattle have been very slow starting and second best on both sides of the ball.
Seattle haven't really got a game-changing receiver, and Belichick fancies his team's chances in stopping them one on one. It was a poor pass from Brady, he almost just lobbed it up in the air and tried to avoid a hit.
They have run the ball, and passed for short gains to the likes of Amendola, Vereen and even Gronkowski.
His intentions are clear from the off, making the first reception to Gronkowski for a short gain and then Amendola. Bill Simmons makes a few good points, such as the success Bellichick has found tempering him a bit, and the age of the team finally catching up with them, but this Patriots fan thinks we have just a bit more gas left in the tank. The Falcons have looked good playing against two teams that project as mediocre, at best, with a strong offense led by Matt Ryan and a solid defense. Expect lots of turnovers in a low scoring game that gives the Patriots confidence headed into the rest of the season.
They’ll also face the surprising 2-0 Denver Broncos in Denver, a place where the Patriots seem to always face trouble.
Expect an extremely tough and high scoring game, but one where my gut tells me the Patriots eek out a win on the last second heroics of Stephen Gostowski. My fellow Patriots fans will hate me for it, and I hope I’m wrong, but the Jets will win the regular season series in another close game. Bellichick kicks the Pats into playoffs mode as they shut down Mark Sanchez and move on to the second round.
His mechanics seemingly go from bad to worse when he’s being flushed from the pocket.
The Packers own a 6-5-1 advantage in the series and have won five of the last six games—including the last time the teams faced off in 2011. Brett Favre, who spent 16 of his 20 seasons with the Packers, piled up 186 regular-season victories.
Cornerback Brandon Carr is coming off a rough season and will count $12.7 million against the salary cap next season. Dallas will have a tough decision on their hands if both he and Johnson are still on the board. In Denver’s only loss, Seattle held Manning to 303 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. Had that penalty not come in, Seattle would've probably kicked the field goal and gone in 14-10 behind.
On the next set of downs he picked up just one yard in two rushes, and Wilson's pass on 3rd and 9 was incomplete. Year after year we see teams that look stellar in the pre-season and stutter when it counts. Yet, the turnover on the team’s defense was significant, with the shocking trade of Richard Seymour slamming home the point that Bill Bellichick was either already looking towards next season, or extremely confident in the rest of the defensive line. Meanwhile, the Patriots pulled off a miracle comeback victory against the average Buffalo Bills and got handed a tough loss against the better than expected New York Jets. I’m predicting the Patriots finish off the first half at 5-3, with wins against the Titans, Bucs, and Dolphins. Make it two in a row as the team travels to the Superdome to face this year’s MVP, Drew Brees.
There, they’ll face the surprise team of the season, the Denver Broncos, and get revenge for their regular season loss. According to the Star Tribune, it will be the first clash of unbeaten teams since New England (8-0) at Indy (7-0) on November 4, 2007. Morris Claiborne is coming off of major knee surgery and has never lived up to the first-round hype since being drafted in 2012. At 6-5, it’s gut check time and the Patriots pass with flying colors, going on a five game winning streak to finish off the season at 11-5, a good enough record to clinch a wild card spot.
Through those games, the Broncos’ signal caller has thrown only seven touchdowns and has 10 interceptions. The Pats will play them tough, but Joe Flacco and Willis McGahee will take the Ravens to the final game. His completion percentage is a respectable 61.6 percent, but he seems to have trouble reading defenses. He has taken most of the blame at times and at others he feels it’s the entire offense.
