John Kuhn's playing time decreased in 2013, but his value to the Packers was once again important.
In 16 games last season, Packers fullback John Kuhn amassed 40 rushing yards for two touchdowns and had 15 receptions for 97 yards. FOX Sports Wisconsin's Paul Imig gives an in-depth statistical analysis and film study of every Packers player in his annual offseason checkup.
Looking live: As John Kuhn reported to training camp for his seventh season with the Packers, he was nearing his 31st birthday and was already one of only a few players on the roster who weren't in their 20s.
Upon further review: Kuhn's rushing attempts were significantly down in 2013 from the previous three seasons. Status for 2014: Sixty percent chance of being on Green Bay's active roster to begin the 2014 regular season. At the start of the third quarter, Tannehill took off on a huge 40 yard run to get into Green Bay territory and later in the drive, he found Landry in the end zone to tie up the score at 10-10. It was a close and hard fought battle but in the end, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers came out on top. Now what’s football without the fine football players hiding underneath those pads and helmets?
Jordy Nelson is a veteran wide receiver that has been with the Packers since he was drafted in 2008. Cornerback Sam Shields had to overcome a lot to get to the position that he is in today, barely making it onto the Packers roster back in 2010.
An astronaut, an entrepreneur-TV personality and a football player walking into a room sounds like the beginning of a joke, but it happened on Tuesday’s Celebrity Jeopardy!—and the athlete came out on top.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers bested Kevin O’Leary of Shark Tank and Mark Kelly on the trivia game show with a final score of $8,399, which means $50,000 will go to the charity of his choice, Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, Yahoo Sports reports.
Rodgers’ victory wasn’t without a few missteps: he missed questions involving his college (the University of California, Berkeley) and Harley-Davidson (one of the most well-known companies in the state he now plays for). Clay Matthews #52 of the Green Bay Packers participates in warm-ups before a game against the Arizona Cardinals at Lambeau Field on August 9, 2013 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Raji (90) returns an interception for a touchdown during the NFC Championship NFL football game against Chicago Bears on January 23, 2011, in Chicago. He was on the books for a fairly substantial amount of $2.5 million in 2013 in the final year of his contract, but with Green Bay not having another fullback on the roster ready to take Kuhn's spot, there was almost no chance that general manager Ted Thompson would part with him. His carries have actually been on a steady decline since being handed the ball 84 times in 2010.
Kuhn is an unrestricted free agent, which of course means it's possible that he could sign with any NFL team.
On the first drive, Rodgers connected with his receivers Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, and Jordy Nelson for big yard gains to move the ball down the field.
The Packers quickly responded; on 3rd and 5, the Dolphins defense rushed Rodgers but he managed to roll right to avoid the sack, extend the play, and ultimately find Cobb in the endzone for a touchdown.

Though Sam just signed a huge contract with the Packers this past offseason, he makes it a focus of his to stay humble and grounded and not spend his money in ways that leaves many other NFL players broke.
But, if Kuhn came with somewhere around a $1.5 million price tag for next season, is that really something that the Packers wouldn't be interested in?
Aaron Rodgers showed everyone why he is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, as he discount double checked all over the Dolphins’ stadium and threw the game winning touchdown in the very last seconds of the fourth quarter. On the 9th play of the drive, Nelson got open in the end zone and Rodgers found him for the touchdown to quickly go up 7-0. When he’s not busy playing football, he still helps out on the family farm from time to time.
He eventually followed in the footsteps of his older brother and stuck with just football going into college.
He didn't miss a single practice and was always leading by example to the rest of the running back room. He was on the field for 432 snaps (37 percent) in 2011 and for 437 snaps (39 percent) in 2012, but that total was down to 337 snaps (32 percent) in 2013. Kuhn is what he is as a player, but he's a veteran leader (one of few on the ever-young Green Bay roster) and has a great handle on McCarthy's offense.
Dolphins’ wide receiver Jarvis Landry had a big 54 yard return on the ensuing kick to bring the Dolphins to midfield. After a huge 25 yard pass from Tannehill to receiver Mike Wallace, a 14 yard completion to receiver Damian Williams, and big runs by running back Lamar Miller, Tannehill handed the ball off to Miller who ran it in for a 5 yard touchdown to once again tie up the score.
He was drafted by the Packers last year and has been making an impact on the team ever since. With rookies Eddie Lacy and Johnathan Franklin having a lot to learn in a short amount of time, being able to watch Kuhn go through the drills like the confident veteran that he is was certainly helpful to them. However, Kuhn was as involved as ever in the passing game, being targeted 19 times in 2013 after having the ball thrown his way 18 times in each of the previous three seasons. Plus, it's important to consider the depth chart when looking at replacing a player, and right now, the Packers don't have Kuhn's replacement ready (though that could change in free agency or in the draft).
The offense made it to the 29 yard line before getting stopped, which set up the Dolphins for a field goal to make the score 7-3. The Packers offense then went 3 and out and the ball went back to Tannehill, who found one of his favorite targets, Mike Wallace, in the end zone for another touchdown and for the first Dolphins lead of the game. During the 2013 season, he led all of the rookies in tackles, forced fumbles, and passes defended and he continues to impress with his performance this season. Kuhn also played an important role on special teams, and by midway through camp, he was one of eight core pieces on both kickoff coverage and kickoff return.
There has been a change developing since 2010 in how playcalling head coach Mike McCarthy most often uses Kuhn. It's probably safe to assume that Kuhn will be in his green and gold uniform for another year or two.

The Packers’ next drive was unsuccessful as they could not get out of their own territory, which resulted in a blocked punt that was recovered by Miami at the Green Bay 16 yard line. On the next drive, the Packers were eventually stopped by the Miami defense short of the end zone and kicked a field goal to make the score 24-20. In 2013, for the first time, Kuhn was on the field in a run-blocking role more than he was on the field in any other situation.
To make up for the offensive mistakes, the Packers defense came up huge and stopped the Dolphins on 4th and 1 at the 1 yard line, denying them any points off of the turnover. The Dolphins got the ball back but a couple of incomplete passes and short runs forced them to punt away the ball to the Packers with 2 minutes left in the game. The effect of having a dominating runner in Lacy obviously played a big role in why Kuhn was used mostly as a run-blocker. Trailing by 4, things were not looking optimistic for the Packers after Rodgers got sacked on 3rd down and fumbled the ball. Lacy's terrific rookie season also contributed a lot to why Kuhn's carries dropped by more than 50 percent, as previously it was the 250-pound fullback who got the ball on many short-yardage plays. Cornerback Casey Hayward picked off quarterback Ryan Tannehill on a pass intended for Jarvis Landry, giving the ball back to the Packers. Despite all of those numbers, though, Kuhn has never been as valuable to the Packers as he was on the game-winning touchdown in Week 17 to win the NFC North.
On the next Dolphins’ possession, the Packers defense forced a 3 and out to stall the drive. On 4th and 10, Rodgers found Nelson, who beat the defender and got open, and completed a huge 18 yard pass to him for the first down to keep them alive. On the Dolphins’ subsequent possession, cornerback Sam Shields got in front of wide receiver Brian Hartline and caught the pass from Tannehill for the second interception of the day. With both offenses unable to make anything happen for the rest of the half, the score remained at 10-3 at halftime. Rodgers then completed a short pass to Cobb and on the following play, faked a spike and threw to Adams who made it to the 4 yard line.
With 6 seconds remaining in the game, Rodgers hit tight end Andrew Quarless in the end zone to take a 27-24 lead. The Dolphins were going to need a miracle to win the game; they ran the hook and lateral play but Lamar Miller eventually fumbled the ball and linebacker Julius Peppers recovered it to clinch the Packers victory.
