Prior to Alameda's arrival at UNLV, the Rebels had seven straight seasons below .500 and hadn't participated in NCAA Regional play since 1996. Coach of the Year in 2005 and again in 2007 and the entire staff garnered NFCA West Regional Coaching Staff the Year in 2005. Alameda went 25-35 in her first season, which was a four-game improvement over 2003's final tally. Under Alameda's direction, the Rebels have enjoyed recognition at the conference and regional level. The 2013 District 30-AA Offensive Player of the Year was also named to several All-State and All-Region teams this past season.
A three-time Academic All-District honoree, she also excelled at basketball and track for Refugio High School. Named All-Hillsborough County as a freshman, All-Western Conference as a sophomore and an All-American as a junior, she has steadily become one of the best players in the country. She chose to be a Seminole over offers from Jacksonville, South Alabama and UWF among others. A .442 hitter with eight doubles, three triples, two home runs, 15 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 2013, Baker was named Chiles' Offensive MVP, an award she also won in 2012. Baker has deep ties at Florida State, with her mom, Julie Larsen-Baker, having played for FSU in the 80's.
McCormack has led the team in home runs, slugging and batting average each of the last four seasons. She has played six years of varsity softball for Lake Highland and was named the Offensive MVP the past three seasons. Klaevemann selected FSU over offers from many schools including LSU, Texas and defending national champion Oklahoma. Her father has worked with the FSU Baseball program for 30 years and is currently the Director of Baseball Operations. A two-time All-Conference selection, she set a new school record in 2013 with 12 home runs as she went on to receive All-State honors.
