Getting Unstuck From Boring

Leisure Suit Series

Ruts.

As soon as I hear the word, a negative feeling overwhelms me. Look up the definition of "in a rut" and you will find this: "in a settled or established habit or course of action, especially a boring one." No one wants to be boring. Fewer want to make a habit of it. But habits are so hard to break and they usually start with great intentions.

Tony's second eBook, How to Get Unstuck, talks explicitly about how we have let our habits get in the way of getting actual results. I was struck by the idea most of the ruts we find ourselves in were at one point new, cutting edge initiatives. When does a great new initiative become a rut? When do we get stuck?

Tony shares, "Good people using bad systems will never produce good results. Normal people using good systems can produce great results." What systems are you using to help you gain the results you want? People change, adopt and adjust. If your systems and processes are not staying relevant to your people, the processes are missing a critical component. Jesus was radical; he was cutting edge, but he had great intentionality with his time.
