The WFR course is designed to provide you with the tools to make critical medical and evacuation decisions in remote locations. Continuing Education Units: This course is pre-approved for 70 hours of EMT Continuing Education Hours (CEH) by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS). Active members of the Wilderness Medical Society may earn up to 55 hours of credit towards a Fellowship of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM).
This intensive course combines wilderness medicine with urban medical care practices into a single month-long program that includes clinical rotations helping to provide care for real patients. College Credit: This course is pre-approved for 9 semester credits from WMI-affiliated colleges and universities.

The 200-hour Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician course seamlessly blends urban and wilderness medicine. Successful course completion earns you a WMI Adult & Child CPR certification and a WMI Wilderness First Responder certification. After four weeks of classroom education, practical skills, scenarios and full-scale mock rescues, you will be ready to handle medical emergencies, in the wilderness or right in town.
It is critical that you submit copies of these documents to the WMI office as soon as possible after registering for a WEMT course.
If we do not have your complete, accurate documentation as outlined in the Course Description by the first day of the course, you will be unable to attend the required course clinical rotations.

This will make you ineligible for EMT certification with no refunds or transfers of course tuition and associated costs. Please refer to the Course Description for your particular course for specific details about each prerequisite.
