An exhibition of the best entries in the Landscape Photographer of the Year competition is now on at the National Theatre in London until 28 January 2012.
The Take a view Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards are held in association with Network Rail. The Landscape Photographer of the Year Award showcases the best of British landscapes - from rolling countryside, craggy peaks to shiny cityscapes.
The competition, which is is run in association with VisitBritain and Countryside is GREAT, highlights all that Britain has on offer. From dramatic cityscapes to rolling countryside, misty tors in the West Country to the turquoise waters of the Hebrides, Britain's remarkable landscape and volatile weather provide plenty of scope to fire the imagination.
This year's Take a View Landscape Photographer of the Year Award has opened, and these are the efforts of previous entrants in last year's competition. Landscape Photographer of the Year was founded in 2006 by Charlie Waite, one of today’s most respected landscape photographers.
It also showcases the work of many talented photographers, inspiring visitors to experience the joys of British landscapes at first hand.

Awards are presented to both the adult and young Landscape Photographer of the Year and there are four main categories that have both adult and youth sections, with additional prizes offered within each category. The first show of its kind to be held at the station, the exhibition became a focal point for many of the quarter of a million visitors and tourist that pass through each day. It is a way to comment on the way we treat our landscapes and a chance to provide a new way of looking at our environment. With almost 80% of the UK population living in built up areas, the landscapes that we connect with on a day-to-day basis are increasingly of an urban nature.
From a majestic castle on a cliff pounded by fierce waves to the last vestiges of winter snow settling on isolated peaks, you'd be forgiven for thinking that these were from magical places across the world. Running for nine years, the Landscape Photographer of the Year is unique in that is celebrates the United Kingdom only, offering photographers worldwide an opportunity to showcase their images of Britain. Charlie said: “Now, more than ever, I think we are realising how important the British landscape is to our wellbeing. Britain’s heritage is celebrated by people around the world and entries are welcome from everyone, whether resident in Britain or simply visiting.

Entrants have until July 12 to enter the 2015 Awards by submitting their photographs of the British landscape. An exhibition of winning entries will premiere in central London in November 2014 and over 150 of the best photographs will appear in stunning coffee table book Landscape Photographer of the Year, Collection 8 (The AA). But all of these striking images were snapped right here in the UK, and if you're a bit handy with a camera, now could be your chance to shine. From stark moorland to angular cityscapes, and from rocky coastlines to lush woodland, Britain's remarkable landscape and volatile weather provides generous material to fire the imagination.
There are categories for urban views, landscapes with people, close-up details and conceptual landscapes, as well as more classic views, so there is plenty of scope for your imagination.
Held at the National Theatre for seven years, it became one of the venue’s most popular exhibitions before moving to London Waterloo, the busiest station in the country, in 2014.
