Editing landscape photos, cmg landscape architecture, landscape pictures morocco - Easy Way

I cut my photographic teeth in the traditional black and white darkroom, so dodging and burning have always been part of my image processing. But these adjustments are just as useful on colour landscape images as black and white, which is why I find the Adjustment Brush in Lightroom 4 invaluable. I use the digital darkroom because I find that many of my landscape images require some additional work to extract further detail in the dark and bright areas of the picture, which helps to create a more balanced image. After opening the image in Photoshop, go to Layer>Duplicate Layer to make a Background copy.
Whether starkly beautiful, bursting with colour or magnificently minimal, no other type of photography offers more potential for stunning imagery than landscapes.
In this tutorial we offer up a variety of tips, advice and Photoshop techniques to help you capture and enhance your own awe-inspiring landscapes.
Although approaches to shooting landscapes have changed over the years, a few things remain constant. I have been asked many times why I first build the HDR image in Photoshop and then Tone Map it in Photomatix, since it seems the logical thing is to do it all in one program.

You can then simply save all the images as Tiff files for processing in Photomatix Pro, but since the Remove Ghosts option in Photoshop is so good I find it better to build the HDR image directly in Photoshop CS6. You can now save the HDR image as a 32-bit Tiff file in Photoshop CS6 for export to Photomatix. However, Photomatix offers a very specific look with its tone mapping adjustments that I find very attractive. Editing your landscape photos is really easy but getting some stunning results is another story. Although the most important thing is to have a great photo to start with, with post editing you can enhance that photo and make it look as close as possible to the scene you saw when you took the photo. Another way (there are many other) to add contrast on your image is by duplicating the photograph, turn it into black&white, change the blend mode to Overlay and reduce the opacity to the point where you like how it looks (Vivid Light and other blend modes also work nice depending on the photo). Increasing the saturation of your photo will make it look better most of the times but be careful not to over do it.
I usually use Unsharp Mask but there are other ways of sharpening in photoshop like for example the Paint Daubs filter located under the Artistic filters group.

On future tutorials I will show you how to simulate Gradient Filters and how to create more artistic and dramatic looking landscape effects.
