Whilst we have a general understanding of what causes the various types of diabetes the exact triggers are unknown. I would say DM has a lot to do with direct and indirect factors, which you did a great job of covering. Type-1 causes: This form of diabetes is caused due to destruction of the pancreatic cells (known as the beta cells) that produce insulin.
