Chelsea transfer news and rumours Graziano Pelle is going to Chelsea, according to a report on Italian website Calcionews24. The report, that kind of brushes over the fact that Mourinho may be sacked by lunchtime, reckons the Pelle deal depends upon whether the Portuguese can find it within himself to drop Costa. ARSENAL are set to decide between Manchester United's Chris Smalling, Aston Villa's Ron Vlaar and Celtic's Virgil van Dijk when they meet next week to discuss defensive targets for January.
Fernando Torres has handed in a written transfer request in a dramatic attempt to force through a move to Chelsea before the January window closes on Monday. The 26 year-old striker has stunned Liverpool by following up his verbal request to leave Anfield — delivered on Thursday — with a formal plea to leave.
Liverpool are adamant that Torres is not for sale and manager Kenny Dalglish has already told the player and the club’s owners that he will not agree to any deal. Liverpool will have to respond on Saturday as they try to defuse the crisis that has enveloped the club and with Chelsea already set to submit a revised offer for the Spanish international. It is understood that the Premier League champions want to offer striker Daniel Sturridge as part of an increased bid.
The fact that Torres, who has been unhappy at Liverpool for some time, and voiced his disquiet last summer, has submitted a transfer request shows his determination to leave.
However, Liverpool are highly unlikely to agree to a move and will hope to persuade Torres to stay at least until the summer.
The difference with Torres, however, and what makes it far more serious for Liverpool, is that he is acting in direct response to a bid from Chelsea who have been chasing him for some time. There was no response from Liverpool on Friday night but the club are expected to release a statement on Saturday. Liverpool will be angry at the speed of developments and believe that Torres has been unsettled. Talks are believed to have taken place with his representatives earlier this week which led to Chelsea lodging a formal offer, which was promptly rejected. Liverpool have backed this stance in a statement but there is a sense, from Chelsea, that the ?23m signing of Luis Suarez may open the way for the sale to happen if they also offer Sturridge. Liverpool have completely dismissed this scenario, insisting that they want Suarez to play alongside Torres rather than replace him and given the team’s improvement under Dalglish it is unthinkable that the manager will be undermined now.
CHELSEA's chances of signing Antoine Griezmann have improved with Atletico Madrid considering replacements.

US Soccer PlayersThe official site of the USMNT Soccer Players with soccer news, schedule, statistics, players, interviews, and exclusive stories. By J Hutcherson - WASHINGTON, DC (Jan 1, 2015) US Soccer Players – NYCFC's MLS debut took a slight detour on its way towards playing a game that counts.
Instead, MLS now faces that same basic transparency problem that has caused them issues in the past.
Simon Kuper has predictions for what will happen in the world of soccer in 2015 for ESPN FC. BBC Sport's Tim Vickery looks back at Brazil's World Cup and asks if hosting is worth the money. J Hutcherson started covering soccer in 1999 and has worked as the general manager of the US National Soccer Team Players Association since 2002.
Digging for meaning from the MLS All-Star GameBy Jason DavisSometimes you need to dig to find meaning from 90 minutes of soccer, and that was the case with the 2016 MLS All-Star Game.
Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini is interested in signing Real Madrida€™s Pepe to increase the depth of his defence. Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini is in the market to sign a world class defender either in January or in summer transfer window as he wants to increase the depth of his defence which consists of Vincent Kompany, Eliaqium Mangala and Martin Demichelis. The place of Pepe is no longer guaranteed in the starting XI of Real Madrid as coach Carlo Ancelotti has alternated Pepe and Raphael Varane as partners for Sergio Ramos in the heart of the defence and Man City management believes that an offer in the region of 8 million euros would be enough to lure him away from Los Blancos.
Meanwhile, reports coming from Portugal, home country of Pepe, have also confirmed the interest of Man City in Real Madrid defender. Pepe, 31, is an integral part of Real Madrida€™s squad under Carlo Ancellotti and it is unlikely that the Italian boss will let him go in January transfer window. Man City boss Manuel Pelligrini does not believes that Martin Demichelis has much future ahead of him at the club and he wants to sign an experienced defender who can fight for the place in starting XI with Vincent Kompany and Eliaqium Mangala. Real Madrid are in great run of form at the moment but midfielder Luka Modric has urged the fans to not to compare them with Pep Guardiolaa€™s Barca. Real Madrid won much coveted La Decima last season and the expectations are also very high from this season. Real Madrid host Liverpool on Tuesday in their fourth game of UEFA Champions League this season. A formal offer of ?28 million was rejected two days ago and Chelsea have already intimated they will raise that to more than ?30 million with Sturridge as a makeweight to take it closer to Liverpool’s expected valuation of ?50 million for Torres.
The request is the latest in a remarkable season of possible departures by high-profile players, with Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez making similar moves.

Chelsea insist they do not want to wait until the end of the season — when Liverpool may be more willing to sell as they will have more time to rebuild. Liverpool made inquiries about the 21-year-old striker earlier this season and it’s understood that Sturridge wants to leave Chelsea having grown frustrated at his limited opportunities.
The question was simply whether that would be in the January transfer window or in the summer. Fans learned on Wednesday that their designated player Frank Lampard will remain with Manchester City for the rest of the Premier League season. Lampard kept NYCFC in the conversation with fellow expansion club Orlando City FC, who signed Kaka. From an MLS perspective, it underlines a basic perception problem that MLS has tried to avoid. Lampard staying at Manchester City makes sense without it undermining the role of an MLS club. One Premier League club has a new manager, with The Guardian's Stuart James approving of Tony Pulis taking over at West Brom.
According to Portuguese publication A Bola, Man City are plotting 8 million euros offer for Pepe in January transfer window.
However, considering his age, the Real Madrid management could decide to cash in on him during the summer of 2015.
He has told Torres and the club’s American owners, Fenway Sports Group, as well as Chelsea’s negotiators, that the player is not for sale. NYCFC can start the season without looking like a feeder team for Manchester City, even if it means giving up their designated player in the early going.
It also creates another public relations incident for a league with a newfound commitment to transparency. Though there's no argument that the Premier League plays a higher level of soccer with players costing those clubs considerably more, that's almost irrelevant to the MLS model.
